  1. Maybe Miss Sharon is more your thing? AMT '37 Chevy Coupe kit again, with some Parts Pack pie crust slicks and deep steel wheels from any number of AMT kits, bias-ply tires from the Lindberg '64 Plymouth Belvedere kit and shallow steelies, and the Olds V-8 from the Revell '50 Olds Sedan kit. Aluminum tubing for the oversized exhaust dumps, a Detail Master Moon fuel tank (though this one looks like the largest size), and some custom fabbed traction bars...good gravy, is that the fuel pump sitting under the headlight housing?
  2. Bold mine...no pressure. Yes, it's really an amazing 'site. One can get lost for hours just looking at all the details: http://www.georgeklass.net/index.html
  3. My money is on a modified reissued of the 115" wheelbase Utiline Li'l Red Express Truck kit, with the new Sweptide bed:
  4. 59.64% of model builders have at least one AMT '37 Chevy Coupe in their stash, so get to it, people. A set of Godyear Blue Streak slicks and Torq-Thrust wheels for the rear, AMT/Revell/MPC skinnys with American Racing LeMans wheels up front, and you're half way there. Engine choice is up to you, just keep it all under the hood, please: Below is a '38 Chevy, but same deal. Pie crust rear slicks from the Revell '64 Ford T-bolt kit, and you could even use the Radir wheels from the same kit on all four corners, too. Straight front axle and parallel leaf springs, a simple hood scoop fabbed from sheet styrene or sourced from your parts box, and a few vintage sponsor decals complete the look.
  5. I always forget that has a 727 automatic trans. Excellent choice, maybe even better than the Revell '68/9 Dart's.
  6. Tonight the Whiz Bang '40 Ford Coupe B/Gas project got underway, inspired by a vintage image found at the George Klass Remembers... 'site: I'm not sure if the body color in the photo is accurate or not, but I'm painting it pink. I am going to try to stay mostly true to the real car's details, too, so the parts list so far includes: AMT Parts Pack Wide whitewall pie crust slicks AMT Piranha dragster rear wheels Revell '55 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop Firestone Gum Dipped medium whitewall tires AMT '62 Pontiac Catalina front steel wheels and brake backing plates Parts by Parks Moon Wheel discs up front AMT '66 Buick Riviera V-8 engine I don't see many mods on this car other than the removed fuel filler cap and tube, the enlarged rear fender openings, the front tow bar brackets, and a crossed checkered flag water slide decal in the rear quarter window. I still see the stock tail light present, but those exhaust dumps exiting under the front fenders hint at a hopped up engine. Looks like their might be a slight cowboy rake, too. The left rear fender has been cemented in place, but that's it so far:
  7. Here are a few newly announced 2019 kits from AMT and MPC: AMT 1139 -- 1/25 Ford C-600 Hostess Delivery Truck AMT 1140 -- 1/25 GMC Astro Semi Tractor Cab (fingers crossed the turbine engine insert has been found) MPC 882 -- Godzilla Army Jeep MPC 901 -- 1978 Dodge D-100 Custom Pickup Truck
  8. Here are a few car kits announced for a 2019 release: AMT 1138 -- 1/25 1969 Chevy Chevelle Hardtop AMT PP21 -- 1/25 Custom Caps & Wheels Parts Pack (4 each) MPC 906 -- 1/25 Ridge Runner (Pinto) Modified Race Car MPC 911 -- 1/25 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible Polar Lights 960 -- 1/24 Coca-Cola VW Beetle (Snap) Polar Lights 965 -- 1/25 Classic 1966 Batmobile (Snap) AMT 1151 -- 1/25 Dyno Don Nicholson's Mercury Cyclone Eliminator II Funny Car
  9. Guess we need a 2019 release topic.
  10. Yes, it includes some (maybe even many) stock parts, but a factory stock engine was never included. Here's the original H-1283 issue: As for the Ed Roth reissue from 2002, the cab is indeed the 'small' window variety. Here's a look at what was included:
  11. Bitchin', from inception to execution.
  12. That stinks, but hopefully anyone considering buying the latest reissue will have read this and insist upon buying only an unsealed kit, knowing there are parts missing inside a sealed kit.
  13. Same experience here. I quickly realized this was not a kit for a ten-year old with limited experience. The two-piece firm vinyl tires were awful, too.
  14. Hmmmm, maybe there was a second Revell '57 Ford wagon variant/kit planned?: Among the group of parts in the lower left quadrant appears to be a rear bumper sans guards (from the Wagon, I'm assuming?) and a set of double 5-spoke wheels which never appeared in any of the semi-recent four Revell '57 Ford kits to my knowledge. Maybe these parts are from another kit, though, and the rear bumper isn't for a '57 Ford wagon.
  15. Don't say you never had a chance to buy test shots of the Revell Parts Packs parts:
  16. Thanks. I didn't even realize either of these two existed, but here's a look at the parts breakdown in the Italeri Cabriolet version, which I'm assuming shares most of it's parts with the coupe?: https://www.super-hobby.com/products/Mercedes-Benz-SL-300-Cabrio.html
  17. No, everybody doesn't. Most people have no problem honestly pointing out the kit's flaws, but we also understand the compromises which have been part of the kit from the get-go. I don't think that's uncharted territory for a kit this old, but it continuing popularity seems to indicate many people will buy and build it anyway, despite the flaws.
  18. Here are the three I use. Top red/black cushioned model is a Revell branded knife from Michael's, middle is a '90s x-acto brand with a plastic handle and anti-roll hex end cap, and bottom is the trusty, standard x-acto aluminum model. All hold #11 x-acto blades (and p/e saw blades) firmly. One thing to note- I only use x-acto brand #11 blades, so I can't speak to how well off-brand blades work in any of these.
  19. Anybody have experience with this kit, or previous(?) variants?:
  20. Ubiquitous, maybe, but some might say classic:
  21. The sock tire size is P215/65R15, and the Monogram Goodyear GT Radial tires have P255/60R15 on the sidewalls, so they are actually a bit wider and have a smaller aspect ratio than the stock tires. Here's a pic of the original issue of the '85, though it was labelled as "Z-28 E CAMARO": And as a SnapTite kit from 1991, though it's the exact same kit as the kit shown above: There was also the Motorworks release:
