1957 Chevrolets
Mike Chernecki replied to Swifster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
MCW has a nice 57 Nomad based on the Revell kits. -
This is not the same as thier spray cans. I have a quart of the candy orange, did a test spray and it stayed sticky/tacky for a few days. The primer on this line was good, although the last quart I bought was not thinned as much as the first can and was tough to airbrush. Not sure if they offer a thinner for it.

Thanks Bill! Sounds interesting, need to give it a try.

Are you using the same BIN Zinsser sealer that is sold as a stain blocker at Home Depot, etc? Isn't this an oil based primer? Or is there an automotive version of this?

That one has been around for years... it is Don's custom build service. Looks like he focuses his attention there vs supplying goods people pay for.

Your "go to" aluminum color spray paint ?
Mike Chernecki replied to Goodwrench3's topic in WIP: NASCAR
http://www.krylon.com/products/metallic-paint/ still called Dull Aluminum and same number 1403. I am having a hard time finding Krylon Semi-Gloss Black in Canada, love that stuff for 1:1 builds, underhood, dash, chassis, etc. -
How's the Quality of 'SMH' Parts ?
Mike Chernecki replied to 1972coronet's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have one of their resin kits, nice quality. My bet the hood is for the amt kit since they are calling it a 1970 vs 1969. That L88 scoop looks huge, a 1973 Nova I sold a few years ago had an L88 scoop and it was nowhere near the size of this. -
Interior Colours , 1969 Nova SS
Mike Chernecki replied to 1972coronet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You could get a white interior starting in 1972. The interior is nearly identical to the 1969, other than Hi-Back bucket seats in 1972. I know a guy with a 1972 Nova SS in light blue with white interior, very sharp looking car. -
70 Chevy Monte Carlo SS 454-Any One Got Info on It
Mike Chernecki replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I received my kit today. I missed it the first time out so was looking forward to it. The level of detail is great. But extremely disappointed with the chrome, the chrome is all wrinkled, pitted and dull in many areas. Totally unusable. Anyone else have this problem? How is Round 2 with parts replacement? -
Can you briefly explain your texturing technique? Do you mix the talc with the paint? Or apply talc over the wet paint? Or? Thanks for the info on the valve covers, been looking for a set of those for a while.
-
Those valve covers look great, what kit did you find them in? I like the cast aluminum texture, how did you do it?

I think the Camaro was so successful because they got it right the first time and its variations were right (the Yenko was correct and didn't need the next variation to complete it). I think the camaro is the best kit Revell ever produced. I waited for years for a new Nova kit only to be disappointed by a wierd angled backend, sharp body crease and incorrect wheel openings. Also, a 69 copo never existed , there was a 1970 copo Lt-1 Nova. Also, if you look at the copo they include a 69 grille and a wrong 70-72 grille. They screwed up the front and rear of th 67 camaro. I don't think it will ever reach the popularity of the 69 for these reasons. The cuda is fairly good but again a few small details would have made it great. If Revell would correct, better yet not make these errors, the above kits may have the long life the 69 camaro had.

See news sidebar of the Wings, Wheels and Waves website. Looks like they acquired MCW in September http://wingswheelswaves.com/index.php?storeLocation=Massillon

Revell '57 Chevy Interior fit question.
Mike Chernecki replied to Ramfins59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hope this helps. The door panels need a bit of trimming around the convertible side panels and the rear seat needs a bit of narrowing. The door lines and body dip match up. -

New tuck'n roll interiors
Mike Chernecki replied to krassandbernie's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
This is bad news. These interiors are amazing. Everyone complains when they can't buy a quality product, yet when one like this has been available for the last couple years.. nobody shows support. I hope Ed reconsiders in the future. -
1/25 Revell '72 Hurst/Olds Cutlass Kit
Mike Chernecki replied to W-Machine's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Stripe description below shows reflective gold for the main stripes. http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/gm/1972ho.php Sure wish it was possible to duplicate reflective stripes in 1/25 scale decals. Olds, Mustangs, Cuda and more had reflective stripes.
