  1. I need to get one of these. I fell in love with these 23 years ago, remember like it was yesterday. The body shop next door to where I worked got in a matched pair of silver w/ red interior 300SLs for restoration, one gullwing and one roadster.
  2. Looks good! I am doing the same conversion except using the Revell new tool '62 and '58/'59 kits.
  3. This will be tough being 2k clear. How about Klean-Strip for flexible platic bumpers. Is this available in UK? Not sure how it will be on styrene. Here is a link to it http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/8985299/ Have you cantacted Hiroboy for a suggestion?
  4. Hmm, I will have to try it again. I had these issues on my first attempt and never tried again with the fine sanding. Thanks!
  5. The bodywork looks great. Do you have any issues sanding your primer down to 12000 grit? I have gone as far as 3000 grit and had issues with the paint not sticking well and lifting with masking tape or chipping near cuts from trimming baremetal foil.
  6. Get yourself a touch-n-flow from flex-I-file. This is the best thing for this type of work.
  7. Check with Scott at elm city hobbies. Www.elmcityhobbies.com if its available, he can find it.
  8. I have an old Mustang funny car that looks like the same chassis. It's an old built up, so I have no clue of what kit the Mustang was originally, not even sure if it was AMT. BTW, it looks like snow tires on the front of that Torino funny car .
  9. It's been a while since I bought plasti-dip, but I think it may be too hot and melt what your masking. It is also way too thick. I have a bottle of Mr Hobby Masking fluid (blue liquid) and it has worked well. You do have to build it up in layers. I had some masking fluid years back that was hot pink and smelled like ammonia, didn't like that stuff and was hard to use.
  10. I have some of this, along with kosutte ginsan. They are pretty much the same thing.
  11. Never ordered from Strada Sports but have had similar experience from other vendors that stock some of the higher end detailing items. What bugs me is while waiting forever for an item(which may never come), I could have ordered it elsewhere and had it in my hands. Worse, while waiting, the item was discontinued and can no longer be found anywhere.
  12. Looking good! I have the exact kit waiting to be built and also happen to have the exact same color. I also have the full Hobby Design detail kit and was thinking hard in getting the full enhine kit as well.
  13. Try Tamiya pink primer, that should help with the red staying nice and bright. I have also heard some professional car painters using a yellow base under red to brighten up the red.
  14. Looks great... I like the way the taillight were done, better than foiling a transparent red piece and much better than a multi-piece. I think you captured the look of the front end perfectly. Great job!!
  15. I placed a few orders from Chuck over the last few months. Service is awesome!
  16. That's odd, all the Model Car Garage sets I have bought have a sheet identifying each part, unless it is a very simple set. Yes, Hobby Design does provide an instruction sheet on how to assemble multi-piece items and placement instructions.
  17. I already placed an order. I have thier full detail kits for the Ferrari GTO and some Lamboghini's. I was just surprised they are doing American Muscle Cars, hope for more kits in the future.
  18. I stumbled across these while looking for something else. I didn't know Hobby Design did detail sets for american cars. Anyone try these, how well do they fit? Do they make others? http://www.car-model-kit.com/113-detail-sets-upgrade-sets-transkits/23670-69-chevy-nova-ss-for-r-hobby-design/ http://www.car-model-kit.com/113-detail-sets-upgrade-sets-transkits/23668-70-plymouth-hemi-cuda-2n1-for-r-hobby-design/
  19. I used Tamiya tape to mask off the frame rails on the Revell '57 Chevy Convertible. This was a tedious job that took me over 2 months, working a few minutes at a time as time permitted. Today I finally finished masking and sprayed the floor pan. After all this time the tape pulled off as if it had been applied today, it didn't weld itself to the surface or pull up paint. Tamiya tape is awesome stuff!!
  20. I have the Iwata HP-C Plus with .3 tip and the finish is outstanding. I have painted a few bodies with no problem, although it does take more passes to cover the body, like painting the body with a sharpie vs covering one side in 1 or 2 passes. Just bought an Iwata Eclipse HP-BCS with .5 tip. Havn't tried it yet to compare. The 1mm tip I think would be too much.
  21. I order all my Japanese kits from thepolarbearstable2012. Prices and shipping are reasonable, they are fast and only list what they actually have. A couple days and I have my order. Highly recommended.
  22. Nice Trans Am. I know a guy that found one of these in the basement of a car dealership with almost no miles on it, in perfect mint condition.
  23. I order zero paints regularly from Spot Model. Their service is outstanding and never had an issue. You may need to wait a couple weeks for out of stock colors, but they send you weekly status updates in those situations.
