  1. Yeah the gully on my grandmas place is in more of a forest setting; mind you it was more open back when they started throwing stuff down there. There is lots of crazy cool stuff down there, found an old 60s lawn mower that I kinda restored but finding a new motor for it is basically impossible since it’s such a small machine. There’s also a couple cars down there; the flipped over remains of my grandma’s father’s 1953 Chevy 210 four door and a ‘63 Ford 300 sedan, black with red interior, sitting since 1970. Using the trunk of that thing to store all the cool stuff I’ve been finding in the gully.
  2. Thanks for the lead on late 50's Fords. I just found out what it's from it's pretty cool. I started thinking about certain cars the family owned or parts of other cars I also found in that gully, and the only late 50s Ford part I found was the red headlight surround from a '58 Edsel. That's what this steering wheel is from; exact match withouth the trim. Nobody in the family had an Edsel so not too sure why there are Edsel parts in the gully, maybe the original owners of the property had one.
  3. That looks way cool; I have yet to try something like that.
  4. I'm pickin' up whatch you're layin' down; me being of the now generation I see a lot more of the energy drink consuption and high phone usage; never touched one of those drinks in my life thus far, and never had a phone until this past September. I'd definitley choose model building anyday.
  5. Those three Pontiacs sure do look very nice; I built the '65 Bonnevile kit also, but as a mild custom
  6. That '69 Cougar with what appears to be a '69 Mustang fastback roofline sure is interesting
  7. That’s cool I saw that episode where it’s from
  8. My Del Ray is the newest release also, I found that the white wall inserts didn’t fit around the rims. And actuality now that I remember other than that it was going pretty well until I had to put the main components of the car together, at that point it wasn’t going well. I see yours came out very nice, just like the stock one on the box, it looks way better than mine. I built it in 2021 and it looked pretty good when I was done but unfortunately since that was the year I started building I hadn’t yet known to scrape chrome plating off so everything chrome has basically fallen off and the wheels kept falling off too. Probably inexperience was the reason why I had a hard time with it so maybe if I redo it it might be easier to build this time around.
  9. "You can bring back any car from the old days, what do you choose?" "The Yugo"
  10. To put things in perspective, this is what I started with:
  11. What an awesome assortment of kits; I built a few of the same kits too, like the '58 Plymouth and the '41 Chevy truck kit was actually my very first kit. Question for you about the '56 Del Ray kit there, I built one but it fought me every step of the way; did you have a hard time building yours or did it go smoothly?
  12. Genetics prove that if your parents didn't have kids there's a good chance you won't either.
  13. Took out a bunch of kits last night just to see what I got and I must say there are quite a few from my early years of building that I am not terribly pleased with and may end up re-doing a few from the ground-up. That being said, the recent completion of three of my builds which I really enjoyed building and having put together got me thinking about the kits I built that I thought turned out well. So I compiled 7 from a span of 2023-now that were my favourites. What are some kits you have built that you really enjoyed building and came out nice? Share the photos here.
  14. Probably not usable for anything as it has been sitting in a gully for some 50 odd years but I'm not sure what it's from at all. FOUND OUT IT'S FROM AN EDSEL
  15. I spy a '69 Galaxie in the bottom right shelf...
  16. Wow lotsa projects goin' love those Pontiacs can't wait to see 'em all complete as well as that '56 Crown Vic.
  17. 20 bucks got me this complete snap tite Lincoln kit from 1965. The original price sticker on the box was $1.65 from Simpsons-Sears. This kit was real nice as it is officially the oldest kit (in terms of age) that I have built. Originally molded in black, I thought the two-tone blue treatment would look pretty snazzy on a car like this so that is the paint job this car wears now. Also changed the tires as it came with little thin stripe whites which looked kinda odd for a car like this so I robbed the set off my '53 Ford Truck and the fit pretty well on these rims.
  18. Finally got the photos taken for this as I had actually completed it on Saturday night. This was picked up at value village, and the original owner had started the built but didn't get too far. Some things were already painted, like the engine, and it was basically assembled already too. The car itself was already painted, and that was sort of the reason I turned it into a convertible. It was painted with a brush, several thick coats of black, and the front seats and headliner were painted red. In an attempt to keep the work level down on this build, I thought why not just get rid of the roof to bypass some of that sanding. So with the leftover convertible piece from my 1970 Pontiac Bonneville Sports Hauler, I created a convertible version of the '57 300C. The colour it wears now was a little tricky to spray over black, and it wasn't any easier since the can ran out just barely finishing a second coat. Could've used a third but it's pretty good. I should take the time to thank @Horrorshow for supplying the chrome pieces and tailights for this build as when I recieved the kit every chrome piece was in fact missing and only one tailight was present. So thanks again for those parts, the build wouldn't have been possible without them; much appreciated.
  19. Good point there.
