That’s a good deal - I wonder if they sold out already? I couldn’t even see it on their site when I searched just now. Surprised no one on Amazon is selling these yet...I’ve got a gift voucher burning a hole in my pocket since Christmas! ?

Not so much of a secret that there aren’t already hundreds of pictures of it online though, in this case: https://www.google.com/search?q=mustang+gt4+engine&client=firefox-b-1-m&prmd=sinv&sxsrf=ALeKk03IDHBJpCopnHsn2G0gHM9w4Otewg:1585620449668&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjbpZq90MPoAhWRmHIEHcyKCVwQ_AUoAnoECA0QAg&biw=414&bih=716&dpr=2

I’m with Tim on this - I’m sure at $43 retail Tamiya couple have factored in an engine...but also, I’m sure Tamiya knows their audience and they seem to be doing ok as a business so I guess they figure most of their customers DON’T want one. Not exactly new for Tamiya though - I WISH their Mk1 Miata kit had an full engine (and pop up lights) too, but the kits where they do include one have proved they can do a really nice job of it and still have a kit that practically falls together

Or, if you only have a dollar...get a Hot Wheels and find a hill! Fun idea - looks like people are having fun doing it!

What a cool idea! Love that cutout in the rear deck for the driver...is this a fantasy build or did someone do this for real at some point? Ill be watching!

Dumb newb question: How to install seats
OldNYJim replied to jchrisf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I picked up this stuff from Michael’s a couple of weeks ago and love it! Was only a little tube, but for a couple of bucks I figured I’d try using something other than regular cement or CA: This mixes itself on the way out thanks to some little spiral-shaped paths in the nozzle, so it’s super easy to use too for anyone nervous about messing with epoxy for the first time! Just used it to glue these seats in place (which also didn’t have very positive mounting locations): -
Wire Wheel Lacing Tutorial, FED's, simplified
OldNYJim replied to Mike Williams's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Mike - you say you’d like to find some 18mm tube...but would it HAVE to be tube? What about a plastic sheet cut into rings? The first thing I thought of when I saw this tutorial was that I could maybe use some styrene sheet of an appropriate thickness and a circle cutter or similar to make rims that way instead perhaps? -
Stunning building Eric! Everytime I see one of your builds I either wish I thought of it first or discover some new must-have product that I want to try. This time it’s both...I LOVE that neon rod that you’re using!

That’s paint’s going to look miles deep with a polish! This’ll be a great looking build!

Haha! Wasn’t trying to rag on you - I only knew that because I had a family member who imported MG parts to North America for a number of years...and I always thought it weird that even the official parts were labelled, say, an MG MGA fender or whatever. Seemed like, as you say, “MG A” would have made more sense. I’ve driven or worked on all MG’s “Greatest Hits” EXCEPT the MGA, but I suspected it would have the same naming convention as the MGB and the MGB GT which were a lot more common I think. I owned one of their Midgets for a number of years...fun little car when it ran properly, but it was plagued with electrical issues (go figure) and was determined to rust itself into the ground. Same as this one, but with a black interior: Thread hijack over ?

Oh wow! Envious! I really like that series shay Revell did - they’re all on my ‘grail’ list!

A little more on my Shoebox - still trying to meet the original NNL deadline even though it’s now six months away ?? First up, added body bolts to the floor: Then, once those are done I worked on the brass gas tank - I read a thread on The HAMB about how those were a fad in the sixties for about a minute and really liked the idea of having something other than the regular steel or aluminum tank...used a length of this teardrop shape brass rod as my basis and made brass brackets and got it all mounted with a simple line up into an imaginary fuel pump in the trunk somewhere: Then, next up, started mounting some of the exhaust system because it’ll be easier to get this part in before the axle is in than after - I changed the design I’d come up with originally to a two-into-one system like the original car, using aluminum bar, a Parts Box tip with silver wire hangers with some little o-rings to deaden (pretend) vibration: I didn’t wanna deaden vibration so much that I put a muffler on in - this thing would probably be decently loud out back...for the 15 or 20 miles that gas tank would allow you to run anyway ?♂️?. Good thing we’re going for a showcar vibe here... Next up, need to figure how I want the rear axle to look and get that installed! More soon!

I think, technically, the model is an “MGA”, made by “MG”: Like how a Miata is called a Mazda MX-5 not a Mazda X-5, even though part of the name is redundant. Or like a PIN Number ?

One of the best tutorials I’ve seen anywhere for a while! You make it look so simple! I’ll definitely be trying this! -
Or some bomber seats! Love projects like this - both in 1:1 and scale! I’ll be following ??

Testors metalflake spray bombs
OldNYJim replied to Roadrunner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Weren’t colors in black and white back then anyway? ? I haven’t had the pleasure of using any of these, but I love a nice coarse flake - has anyone got any pics of anything they’ve painted with these? -
Ohh, interesting! Have got got any examples of the parts that you’ve made? I’d love to see!

Complete bonuses in kits
OldNYJim replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The parts count on the car itself is REALLY low - there might be more bonus parts than there are for the main model ? -
Painting over Pledge future clear coat??
OldNYJim replied to 2zwudz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I do it all the time with acrylics and enamels... This build required multiple layers and lots of masking in between layers and the Future makes for a good durable intercoat: Works great for me! -
Who Was Richard Carroll?

Umm, dude, you were the one who started this post...? -
And here in Brooklyn, NY it’s a little of both ? I saw this in the store today and knew I’d seen it mentioned on here but couldn’t for the life of me remember why I wanted some ??
