  1. I was just looking at that kit this morning, dreaming of something different!
  2. I'd suggest shooting a coat of semi-gloss clear, or strip the chrome and paint aluminum on the rims, unless you like the chrome which isn't correct, but for models, correct isn't always important.
  3. Tons of scratch building, I love it! Nice extra details too! Love your explanations of the work, cool.
  4. I just wanted to post these pictures for fun, Ferrari isn't finished yet but I wanted to show that I build hot rods too!
  5. This is a great triple project! Have you selected three colours? Can't wait to see more!
  6. Looking very good! I have the same dehydrator, but I cut the top two shelves half off so I can sit taller stuff on the half of the third shelf. Black with red interior???
  7. Beautiful engine, I'm sure you'll make the rest of it just as nice! Looking forward to seeing it, step by step!
  8. You've never been to my place have you? You are welcome to visit and look at my massive stash, my cool collection of vintage kits and my showcase of finished builds. Plus have a nice glass of red wine or craft beer! And share the requisite BS about cars and life! Ciao, Dennis
  9. Did more work on the front end and as suspected..................can't see the headlights or rad. They're there though and I had fun doing them.
  10. Okay, now I'm just kinda goofing around. The headlights do not pop up as on the real car, but I made some in the closed position that may never be seen behind the bumper and grille. I made a radiator which will also not be seen, the bottom of the car is completely enclosed, so maybe it'll show through the grille, we'll see, likely won't show. I did manage to get all the glass in and the body glued to the chassis. The doors are still a WIP themselves! Cheers!
  11. Your work on this is so nice and clean, looks fantastic!
  12. Looking good! I had 3 real ones! They had a 345 V8, and an inline 6 available, but the 345 is in the kit, just needs a bit more details. Here's what I did to my kit: It's certainly not an exact replica, but it's more detailed than the kit offers out of box. PLUS, it was way more fun!
  13. As an actual Ferrari nut myself, I found that the Fujimi kits of old are pretty poor, compared to newer tooled kits. They can be built into beautiful models with a lot of extra work, as you've already done on the body. Don't lose interest, just set it aside and work on something else until you feel like getting back to it and it'll be a real beauty! I'm loving your color choice! Ciao.
  14. Wow, that's quite a major amount of work! I love it!
  15. I love this type of kit bashing project! Thank you for posting....AND......for showing us how to do it right! Very nice thread that I will be following with great interest! I'm sure I'm not the only one.
  16. Paint is smooth, the LED ring light makes it look like massive orange peel!
  17. I got the Zero paints "Fly Yellow" on with Mr. Hobby clear and polished. Just a mock up with my hinged engine cover. Still making the doors fit is very challenging due to the unusual hinges, attached to the (still not glued on) dashboard!
  18. Here's how the dashboard and door panels turned out. The Zero Paints "Cuoio" painted speaked grilles were given a wash with Tamiya light grey panel line, Dash is a mix of flat black, semi-gloss black, black, rubber black, and nato black. NOTE: On the real car, the window buttons are on the center console and the door openers are tucked up under the arm rests, so the door cards are uncluttered.
  19. Onto the dashboard. I cut out the gauge cluster so I could detail it easier. I made the fuse block cover that was missing in the kit. I wrapped some curved styrene with .010 wire, then painted it "rubber black" and installed those "ducts" from the A/C unit to the dash vents.
  20. I'm in the same situation. But I'm finding so much satisfaction doing what you're doing, making something out of............. a sow's ear? LOL So much fun! Cheers!!
  21. Fantastic! Nice work and building tutorial, thanks for sharing and inspiring us! Cheers.
  22. I love your tail light treatment, reminds me of a 60s Ferrari!
  23. Yeah I think bobss396 has the solution!
  24. Man that's looking great already! They are good looking cars, especially with that stance and those wheels!
  25. Yeah, that's pretty wild, and VERY cool!!!
