I've been "dreaming" of building a '56 Ford for years, maybe decades! LOL, and I love the orange and white combo. Build on, and show progress please! Cheers!

That looks like clear will finish it off, light coats. IF I was in that spot, that you are in, so as not to be upset with it, I'd let a couple of light coats dry for a week! Then sand it again and finish with more clear. Just a suggestion, do you have a dehydrator? It's a very worthwhile investment, cuts dry time by about 10. Almost eliminates frustration when this sort of thing happens to me, and it does, it happens to all of us I'd say, at one time or another.

1960 Chrysler Imperial. 12/4, Finished!!
dino246gt replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
As a member of the Winnipeg Model Car Club, I know Steven's builds, oh man are they ever sweet! Each year our club picks the "Best Road Car" at the NNL North, and Steven has won a couple of times and we've been in awe of his detailed factory stock builds every time. This Imperial will be another beauty I'm sure, it's already cool, a hardtop and a smooth paint job, can't wait to see it after Steven details it. -

I designed and built a 1/25th "Mid-Engine" Vette many years ago, of course outdated now, but it was fun!

Ron Hamilton, I like your views on this, and on a new model kit of the mid-engine halo Vette. I'd like to suggest that even the model manufacturer's make a "Halo" kit, and I know I'm going crazy here, but why not 1/12th scale? A lot of us are getting older, well ALL of us are, and 1/12th could become a great scale, although obviously more expensive, some old guys like myself who've built a lot of models over the decades are now taking more time and adding more details trying to make sort of an ultimate build. (I tried that 1/12th Countach, and have a lot of money invested in parts for an ongoing 1/8th '32) 1/12th would be the ideal scale, even for a '32 IMO. Of course there would still be 1/24th, just like Chevy will still offer front engine Vette! I could be crazy! (okay I AM crazy, heeheehee)

Welcome back Alex! So sorry to hear about your accident and injuries, I hope you're not depressed. Your build of this kit is truly inspiring, even though you keep saying it isn't perfect. You've achieved perfection over 10 years ago, now relax and enjoy building no matter how they turn out, just have fun, nothing left for you to prove, you're already a hero in many Ferrari enthusiast's eyes! Ciao and Forza Ferrari!! -

I scored this cool '58 built up for a great low price! Almost too cool to fix up, just leave it as is probably! -

I love that Jeep, cool gas station service vehicle like all the old corner stations used to have, love it! -
Nice work and a great improvement, barely noticeable once finished but somehow it'll just have that look, that you just can't quite put your finger on as to why this one looks so much better than most! Only you'll know! And that's all that matters! Thanks for sharing with such good narrative so that we can do it ourselves if we choose to!

I think the Del Rey chassis is also a great candidate for use on AMTs '55. I WAS planning to make a Revell '55 into a post using the Del Rey roof and trunk. As far as I got with that idea was to use the '55 hardtop on the Del Rey to produce this one: Can't beat a 409 with dual quads in a black '56 hdtp! LOL

So I made up some inner door panels, somewhat representative of the actual ones, but as usual, I take liberty with my builds, it's easier that way! LOL First I cut thin styrene sheet into the size that fit. I added some thin trim strips about 60% from the top. I made 2 piece arm rests. I cut cranks from a spare '62 Catalina interior and mounted them on thin slices of styrene rod. I made up some 2 piece door pulls as well. After a bit of foil, I brushed painted them in Tamiya "German Grey" and did the arm rests in "Nato Black"

This kit has all the glass in one piece, because I removed the roof, I had to cut the windshield and vent windows out, which turned out okay. I easily could've made my own as they're flat, but why not at least TRY to use up the kit's stuff, right? I'm working on painting the rubber around the "glass", it takes me a few tries at that! (not there yet) I made some basic pedals, kit ones are molded on the floor, at least these are hanging, but they can't be seen once a seat is in, still fun and easy to do! I detailed the dash, not accurate but looks cool enough to me. Made a turn signal from guitar string and styrene rod.

I used a Revell, '56 Nomad chassis under my AMT '55, fit perfectly, no gas tank or exhaust molded on!

Great project, I'm sure it'll look cool finished, man it looks cool now! Some of the older exotic car kits have tires that might work, a bit small for the exotic car but probably perfect for this? (Testarossas, F-50, Countach, etc.) -

Cool project............and..............you've got it under control, nice!!! -
I mixed Tamiya Racing White with khaki nail polish and air brushed it. I foiled the Scout ll and the marker lights and parking lights before primer or paint. I'll remove the foil from the lights and re-foil so those little ribs are still crisp before I drop clear red and clear orange acrylic paints for lenses.

Scout Parts
dino246gt replied to cargostar's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I got the newly re-released Scout kit, disappointing for me as I WAS hoping for better wheels and tires and decals, nope! While there are a set of spoke rims, the tires are identical to all the Scout kits, and there IS a decal sheet, but alas, no instrument or under hood decals.
