  1. Beautiful!
  2. I think the Del Rey chassis is also a great candidate for use on AMTs '55. I WAS planning to make a Revell '55 into a post using the Del Rey roof and trunk. As far as I got with that idea was to use the '55 hardtop on the Del Rey to produce this one: Can't beat a 409 with dual quads in a black '56 hdtp! LOL
  3. Here's my bench seat as per instructions from Tom Geiger, thank you Tom! It's the perfect look for my Scout, as it's more of a farm implement than a cruiser!
  4. I'm trying to make that bench seat that Tom Geiger showed on page 1 of this thread. Thank you for that tip Tom, I do have 2 of the Chevy pickup kits, 2 that won't have original seats!
  5. So I made up some inner door panels, somewhat representative of the actual ones, but as usual, I take liberty with my builds, it's easier that way! LOL First I cut thin styrene sheet into the size that fit. I added some thin trim strips about 60% from the top. I made 2 piece arm rests. I cut cranks from a spare '62 Catalina interior and mounted them on thin slices of styrene rod. I made up some 2 piece door pulls as well. After a bit of foil, I brushed painted them in Tamiya "German Grey" and did the arm rests in "Nato Black"
  6. This kit has all the glass in one piece, because I removed the roof, I had to cut the windshield and vent windows out, which turned out okay. I easily could've made my own as they're flat, but why not at least TRY to use up the kit's stuff, right? I'm working on painting the rubber around the "glass", it takes me a few tries at that! (not there yet) I made some basic pedals, kit ones are molded on the floor, at least these are hanging, but they can't be seen once a seat is in, still fun and easy to do! I detailed the dash, not accurate but looks cool enough to me. Made a turn signal from guitar string and styrene rod.
  7. I used a Revell, '56 Nomad chassis under my AMT '55, fit perfectly, no gas tank or exhaust molded on!
  8. This is such a cool thread, I just LOVE seeing all the creativity here, man it's awesome! Keep 'em coming, and get back to finishing some of them! I say that to myself as well!! Cool stuff here!!!
  9. Great project, I'm sure it'll look cool finished, man it looks cool now! Some of the older exotic car kits have tires that might work, a bit small for the exotic car but probably perfect for this? (Testarossas, F-50, Countach, etc.)
  10. Cool project............and..............you've got it under control, nice!!!
  11. I mixed Tamiya Racing White with khaki nail polish and air brushed it. I foiled the Scout ll and the marker lights and parking lights before primer or paint. I'll remove the foil from the lights and re-foil so those little ribs are still crisp before I drop clear red and clear orange acrylic paints for lenses.
  12. I got the newly re-released Scout kit, disappointing for me as I WAS hoping for better wheels and tires and decals, nope! While there are a set of spoke rims, the tires are identical to all the Scout kits, and there IS a decal sheet, but alas, no instrument or under hood decals.
  13. In 2007 I thought I'd build a full detail stock Falcon, haven't touched it in 10 years!
  14. Curious but did you add between the door and fender also to lenghten the fender? Yes I did, because the upper fender is separate from the lower fender I lengthened the upper fender at the smallest point, center of the wheel opening, but for the lower fender I did it where the door meets the fender. If you have the kit, you'll see how it makes more sense this way, with the scoops on top of the fenders, and the relationship of the wheel opening to the front for the lower part. I haven't worked on it for some time but I also made some really cool wheels and tires for it by kit bashing various kit parts. I don't have a cool picture of it yet, but I do have this:
  15. Wow that's looking good and it's a lot off work that you're doing, nice to see!
  16. I used the front clip to make a '41` coupe years ago, on Revell's '48 body, so I had this AMT woody body left over. Here it is totally stock, I don't want a 4 door! So I removed the B pillars and tried to scribe the lines back in for future development. I thought that if I removed the roof and "sectioned" it about a scale 3 inches it might look sleeker. Then I removed the other pillars, the roof has been sanded down 1/8th of an inch, approx 3 scale inches but it's not glued back on yet. I'm not sure of where I'll go with this, IF I decide to chop it, now is the time to do that! I do want to make it into a 2 door with modern chassis and interior, wheels etc. All suggestions and wild ideas are encouraged to be posted, please!
  17. That old kit does have some funky proportions and no chassis, no open hood. I lengthened the front and since the body is multi-piece, I chose to add to the fender tops above the wheel opening, but to keep that opening in tact, I lengthened the lower body at the door to fender seam. I opened the hood and hinged it to flip forward, had to lengthen the hood as well, then added the Foose underhood stuff. I cut away the bottom and added the Foose floor pan, so the Foose chassis fits perfectly.
  18. Modelhaus, sadly, they've retired, as well they deserved to, all the best to them!
  19. I also love replica stock, and agree that the kit manufacturers would do great offering us stock kits and let us do our own customizing, but once in awhile, a custom kit is good to have. We need both, stock and modified kits, new tools too please! (and no whining) LOL Here's a resin Caddy I built stock!
  20. For my master cylinder, I used guitar strings, which I use for a lot of brake and fuel lines. They are straight and keep their shape when bent with pliers, as opposed to wire on a spool.
  21. I think GM kept it front engine all these years for the purists who didn't want mid-engine, but as Corvette prices kept creeping up in order to keep the performance up, and so many years have passed so, are there really that many "purists" still buying Corvettes? I think it's older people now and so many of us have bought Ferraris, Lambos, McLarens. and think of Corvettes as ultimate Camaros! It's America's sports car and it should be on par with the world's other "sports cars". Just my opinion. Ciao!
  22. Ooooh, lucky you! Unfortunately for me, there were no Lamborghinis in my birth year! Ford though, yes there was Ford! LOL
  23. I know, well I do now! ha ha, that the front needs to be flatter but it's too late and I've hinged the hood with that grill hiding the hinge, so it won't be made more accurate. I'm just not a real sticker for accuracy, just trying to make it look "cool" AND have fun doing what I enjoy most, which can be summed up as cutting, chopping and creating. I've only built one model totally "out of box" and it was difficult for me to restrain from flocking and seat belts or wires, hoses and cables! Following instructions just takes the fun out of it for me!
  24. As far as that Caddy kit goes, I never planned to build it as is, but I bought 2 as soon as they came out, for the kit bashing potential. Here's the chassis, engine and running gear that I'm fitting to the Eldo Brougham kit. I appreciate every new kit even if I'm not interested in the subject, there's always some great parts that I can use for other creations! These pics are from some time ago, I've since repainted that Caddy black, leaving everything else Tamiya AS-5.
