  1. I was very excited when I first heard the Pinto was being reissued, until I learned it was the AMT kit. I wouldn’t walk across the road for one. I have a ‘76 in the stash for years, but will never build it. In fact I splashed out for an MPC ‘76 last year to build because the AMT just doesn’t cut it; weird body, very weak grill and tail lights, etc, etc.
  2. That’s a lot of time and money for what at a glance looks like a chrome plated Esci Mk II Escort kit. Wish they showed more pics. Sounds like an incredible project.
  3. Sharp looking midget. Nice kit collection, too.
  4. Very cool! Japanese vending machines, eh? You did great work on these neat, little bikes. The weathering on the Monkey is top notch.
  5. Awesome looking Merc!
  6. I'm not familiar with the red one, but I know the white one only has red Mach I side stripes. I can see from the box art the red kit has at least black stripes. No idea if other stripe colours are in the red kit. To build a very nice Mach 1, your best bet would be to get one of the new Boss 302 kits for the corrected front body work, and combine it with one of the above Mach I kits.
  7. Yeah, I remember that stuff. I built one model with it, then binned it. It was miserable to use, and though it may have been non-toxic, I couldn't stand the smell.
  8. Nice work on the LRW. The paint looks good, and you nailed the colour.
  9. Excellent tip! About 20 years ago I got my hands on a quantity of 1/32" sheet PTFE, and made gaskets for all of my airbrush bottles, too. It works exceptionally well.
  10. I've done something similar to this, but I heated up a file. It takes some practice to develop a technique, but can produce acceptable results.
  11. I use flat hobby enamels, mostly Testors and Humbrol. The flat enamels rub out nicely using a piece of leather, fingers, and when needed, a touch of nose oil. This replicates leather very nicely.
  12. Remember that 1 inch = .040” in 1/25 scale, 1/2” = .020”, 1/4”= .010”, etc. This makes the math pretty easy. Measure the actual 1:1 part and convert the size. A battery cable will range from 3/8” to 5/8”, with 1/2” being pretty common. Go with .020” wire and you will be quite close.
  13. Cool style, Claude. Nicely done.
  14. I use Styrofoam meat packing tray material from the grocery store. Sometimes the trays are black, a grayish black actually, which is perfect for this application.
  15. I use CA. Most any brand works well including cheap dollar store single use tubes. My preferred brand is BSI (Bob Smith Industries). It comes in several viscosities that are handy for various purposes, though super thin is my go to CA. They also sell accelerator (AKA kicker) which is highly recommended, and they sell a CA de-bonder, which is marginally effective regardless of brand.
  16. Very cool. I like it.
  17. I’m glad to see this back on the bench. I just discovered this build and reading through the thread has been very entertaining. Outstanding work here, looking forward to seeing more.
  18. Yup, very cool. That chassis looks sweet.
  19. Awesome tip, and nicely done tutorial. Thanks.
  20. Yes, I would love to see this, too. Dann, your mastery of raw plastic stock is most impressive, and I must say quite inspiring. I wouldn’t have thought this level of accuracy was possible without resorting to metal. Very well done.
  21. Oh yes!! Very cool. Would love to have been there.
  22. I bought the ARII Mustang a few years ago. It’s in my for sale pile now. No redeeming qualities at all, except maybe those nice BFG tires, but they’re too big for most 1/24 applications.
  23. Looks sharp! That’s got to be the nicest build I’ve seen of that kit.
  24. Wow, that's lovely. What a beautiful car. Very well done!
  25. I'm intrigued. I'm going to check this out.
