There is some very impressive work, here. I am interested to know more about the gauge faces. How were they done? The image looks much more crisp than a decal or photo..

Well, that was super interesting. It gets a fellow thinking about the possibilities and uses for such a tool. I'm off to ebay to see what I can find.

Revell made a Bullit Mustang as a diecast bodied kit. Their current '68 Mustang plastic kit is pretty much from the same tool. The wheels are straight American Racing Torque Thrust D. Very common in many kits. Monogram 65 Shelby kits and 66 Penski Corvette have them, and the AMT 62 Impala has a nice set of unpainted ones. Many others available.

I appreciate the quandary. I frequently leave decals off so to enjoy the natural lines of the car. Yet I love the look of well done full livery. Count me, on the fence. Gorgeous Scarab, by the way.

I find if you to represent open space, gloss black is the way to go. It disappears better. Some applications better than others, I suppose. YMMV

I just stumbled across this thread. I like what you have done with the glass. I have the same kit on the bench, and the bubble-like glass is the most disappointing part of the kit. I figured it was unworkable, and set about making a new windscreen out of .010" clear plastic. But the kit body is designed to use the deeply relieved glass, and therefore my new windscreen was too deep-set into the body. It wasn't a good look. It never occurred to me to try to sand the back of the kit glass. It's a much better solution. Cheers.

Coincidentally, just last night I was looking through some old SAE magazines and came across the coverage on Mr Booth's Mustang. This is the first I've heard of the one piece windscreen trim. That sounds interesting.

Nice looking Plymouth. The colour is perfect, and the chrome steelies are cool. Nicely done.

I recently needed a plaid pattern for the seats on a Lotus Esprit. I couldn't find anything to match, so I made my own using coloured pencils.

Good looking Falcon. Very clean style. Nice save.

Pic A misses the mark entirely. Pic B is much, much better, but the chrome has got to be toned down.

Very cool! This is an very interesting vehicle, and I have been wanting to build one for quite some time. You have done a wonderful job on this one. Did you make the master yourself? It looks to be quite well done.

Nice wagon conversion. You integrated the very well. It even has a factory look to it. That SOHC will make her haul the groceries. Very cool.

Do you store them tip down, or tip up?

Mr Surfacer (and I imagine the Tamiya bottle primer too) is great for repairing panel scriber slips. I also apply a layer over any body work done with other fillers as it feathers out so well.

I wonder if the 1/18 scale world has any options worth using.

The most common cause of silvering is applying decals over a surface that is not smooth or has texture, such as flat paint. It appears there is some texture to the finish on your model, which could be the problem. Is it a base coat/clear coat type of paint? If so, you will need to clear it before applying decals. Another potential cause is leaving decals in the water too long, allowing some of the adhesive to dissolve away.
