  1. Cool vid, thanks for posting. I haven't seen anything on this machine in decades. As for the amazing sound, it is impossible to appreciate the sound of any performance engine unless it is under load. Putt-putting around the show field is kind of cool, and it all sounds a bit rorty, but I would love to hear machines like this at full song under load.
  2. A Lotus with an automatic box... Nnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
  3. Murphy's Law states that the likelihood a cat will eat a vintage model part is directly proportional to the unobtainability of a replacement part.
  4. Great tip. I've used this method as well. It is also great for attaching head light lenses and other lenses.
  5. There is nothing there of collector value, but there is lots of good building in those boxes. Build away.
  6. Yes, it looks like much fun indeed. Have a blast!
  7. Several years ago I wanted some Shelby stripes in white, but Kieth only offered them in black. I emailed him and asked if he could run off a set in white, and he obliged me. There may have been a premium charged for this, though I don't remember for sure.
  8. I recommend hardware store lacquer thinner for all enamels and lacquers used for hobby painting.
  9. Actually, I'm going to withdraw this comment. It appears that this was only true for cars imported to the American market.
  10. I'm seeing the lack of side marker lights. Also, I believe the wheelbase change was something in the order of 57 or 59 mm (though I do not recall exactly)
  11. Actually, the car in the photo is a pre-'68.
  12. The Merc looks great. I really like the colour. I have one of these kits in my stash, and every time I see one posted on the forum I get the urge to start mine. It looks like a fantastic kit, and yours turned out nicely.
  13. I've been enjoying this build, and appreciate the detailed information provided by several members. I have one of these that I hope to tear into soon, so this is all helpful stuff. Your model is coming along very nicely. The carpeting in the interior looks really well done.
  14. Nice build. These cars have such beautiful lines.
  15. Tough looking Dodge. I like it!
  16. Very sad to hear. His rivalry with Prudhomme in the 70s was fuel for the imagination. I loved that stuff as a kid. Thanks for the memories, Tom. R.I.P.
  17. Nice and clean. And I agree with the post above; well done on those tricky decals.
  18. Another awesome large barge. Very well done.
  19. Haha, yup, me too.
  20. The Mustang looks great. It's good to see one of these built, and you rarely see one built stock. Too bad about the oversize wheels. This has been a problem since the beginning of model cars. If the 1:1 has wheels smaller than 15", the kit will probably have wheels/tires that are too big, and the model just won't look right. It's still an issue today, though these days if the 1:1 has wheels smaller than 17", you are SOL. My current project is the newly tooled Fujimi Lotus Esprit, which should have 14" wheels, but the wheels in the kit measure over 16". They did such a nice job replicating the factory wheels, but way too big. There is no way to make a stock build if that kit look right.
  21. $129 CDN sounds like a good price, though the regular Michael's price will be much more than it could be bought elsewhere because they expect you to buy it with a 40% off coupon. Can you still use a coupon at the clearance price? Anyway, I don't have a 180-12, but I do have an 80-2, which seems to be the base model for Badger compressors. I don't know how many similarities between the two, or what components may be shared, but I can say that mine has been providing faithful service for about 15 years. Though it is designed to be connected directly to the airbrush, I have mine plumbed into a 7 gallon air pig. It will fill the air pig to about 38 psi, which is plenty for spraying. It is not exactly silent, but not near as noisy as most hardware store compressors. Seems like a good deal. If you have the need, I'd say 'go for it'.
  22. If you get the chance to do so, I highly recommend doing it during the month of September. The weather is great and the tourist traffic will have subsided for the year. Cheers.
