True, 3 decades! I've been online since having CompuServe in the late 80s. Some days I feel ancient at 50..some of my coworkers are half my age.

Wouldn't consider it newfangled'....like buttons and similar have been on forums and social media sites for 15 years or more...not a new concept.

My Dad was born in rural eastern Kentucky in 1921, my Mom there in 1931.. my Dad served in WW II in Miami and the Caribbean in the Army Air Corps. After they met and married in '48, they moved to Ohio... I was born in '70, when my Dad was 49...he never talked much about the past, was always in the present, but I did get a few good stories of his youth. Wish I had had more time with him as an adult (he passed in 1999).

I do have fond memories of many things of the 80s-90s... enjoyed the '00s quite a bit also. Life has been interesting w/ ups and downs..looking forward to the remainder of the 20s..

I've been on eBay as a buyer since early 1996...bought a lot of stuff on there--starting with buying old Hot Wheels then old model kits. Thousands of transactions, probably over 99% have been positive, only had a few issues. A few that I had issues with--I had won a complete, unbuilt MPC 'Thunderstruck' Dodge 4x4 pickup..when it arrived, the cab was missing! Let the seller know, and he sent me a complete, unbuilt 2nd one, at no charge. I once won a builtup '68 Impala convertible that looked more complete than it actually was. It was my mistake, I should have asked questions of the seller about the completeness. Another was a resin caster that took weeks to ship the parts I'd won....I told him should have only offered for auction items that were ready to ship and he copped an attitude..guy is a real jerk, still out there. Some sellers won't combine shipping costs when you win/buy multiple items, got to check their terms before bidding. I've never sold on eBay, but my sister has been a power seller on and off for about 15 years, and hasn't been happy w/ the changes over the last few years, esp. the new 'Managed Payments' feature--says it takes longer to get paid than the older direct to PayPal approach did.

Heh-heh...I'm one of those technology "wizards" that builds computer applications and websites for a living and use lots of apps on my phone to do stuff and procure things like food, etc. But once in a while I do physical stuff like planting trees, using mulch on my yard, using a leaf blower, snow blower, etc. The world needs technology people to keep things like cell phones, banks, the internet, tv streaming, etc running. The modern world wouldn't exist as it is without us.

Took a walk around the block and spotted a RHD M-B Metris postal van. Didn’t realize the USPS were using these.

I have a friend that is 6’7”, he has an F150, Expedition, and a Polaris Slingshot. No headroom issues with those.

Yeah, the Pinto was a high school graduation gift from our folks. She has had a lot of interesting cars over the years…the Zs, a Saab 900 Turbo, Acura Legend coupe, various Mercedes…

Back in the 80s, my sister's first Z was a metallic brown '78, 5 spd, w/ wire wheels..bought it used in Mesa, AZ in 1980 to replace her tired '76 Pinto she and husband #1 had driven from Ohio. She traded it on a gray '85 300 ZX 2+2, then that was replaced by a silver '90 300ZX Turbo.

Not to sound like yet another grumpy Boomer (which I'm not), but I do find the word 'fam' annoying. And in business jargon--'pivot', 'unpack', 'at the end of the day', and 'think outside the box' are pretty tired and overused..

Not really irksome, but amusing...was on a website the other day that had a Recaptcha for login, one with photos, and the question was 'select all the photos with parking meters'. I did, but it said I was wrong and to retry...so I additionally selected the photo of a mailbox (the green plastic curbside style) and it worked... guess their image classifier algo was mistaken...

Those are pretty dated, though…from like 20 years ago?

Bought some mulch this morning…a dozen 40lb bags. Been working in the yard all day…mulching and fertilizing my evergreens. Tired…

At a gas station this morning saw these two Vipers...then saw two more on the street as I was leaving..both black, one an ACR with a monster rear wing. Later at the car wash saw a dark red F150 with the license plate ‘IMDEAD’.

A buddy of mine on the East Coast waited several months on the new Silverado he ordered back in January...it arrived at the dealer last week, only to get wrecked by a dealer employee shortly after it arrived

Several of the Moebius Ford trucks have a 240 6, same engine family as the 300. Specifically, the '69 F100 and '66 F100 step side kits IIRC...

When i first turned on Open for Business and enabled visibility on Dice, I was getting 30-40 contacts daily. After a couple weeks, I had a few interviews and got multiple offers, and though I've done a lot of contract positions, I ultimately went with a full time salaried, 100% remote position that was a really attractive offer and package w/ a small local company, with a local recruiter. First time I've done the whole process remotely from home. Over the last year, my sister had done 3 100% remote contract gigs, she has vowed never to do business travel again (she used to rack up 500k or more air miles a year).

For me, the recruiting calls really picked up when I made my profile visible on Dice and marked 'open for business' on LinkedIn back in January when I was looking for a new gig. I've since turned off Dice and updated Linkedin to show my new job and not looking, and there has been less...more emails than phone calls. I keep my phone on vibrate and usually never answer the phone unless I recognize the number. I occasionally get incoherent messages left on voice mail. I probably should remove my phone # from my LinkedIn profile.
