  2. Those tires would indicate these are originals. The "new" issue from a few years ago did not have plastic tires, but newly tooled rubber tires to match the 1:1 Black Widow showcar that was designed after the original model kit. It's all a big circle isn't it? Model kit inspires showcar, showcar inspires improvements to model kit ? Here's the showcar, complete with cool retro box art inspire display
  3. The 49 Woody is actually an offshoot of the Revell chopped 49 Merc tooling. So those kits you mentioned are both part of the "version-ing" practice that Revell (and Moebius) does now where any new tool is created there are at least 1 or more additional versions planned. See also the Revell 57 Ford (sedan and wagon), 71 Mustang (BBoss and mach 1)and several others. Some versions are more extensive than others (like the complete new body and interior tooling for the Merc woody) but at least 50% of the kit is reused when making the next version. The exception to this practice would be the all new tooling Foose kits (Caddy and F-100 pickup). Both of which are still in the catalog 6-7 years after introduction. They are getting their moneys worth out of that investment.
  4. Stunning paint, great stance.
  5. Does anyone know of a source for a bench seat for this? I did find and order a flat hood from Missing Link. Does anyone know if the hubcaps from Fireball Modelworks would be correct for this kit to "downgrade" it?
  6. I'm optimistic that putting the parts in a dehydrator for a day or two solves the potential durability issues. It looks great straight out of the can but we have to be able to handle the stuff, at least moderately.
  7. Looks like you got your wish. Although, Revells "cheesy" whitewall decals have been much improved lately, as evidenced by Chuck Kourouklis hot rod build. He was blown away at how nicely they laid down. I'd link you to the build but the search function is not working for me right now, probably related to the boards other technical issues.
  8. absolutely stunning presentation and execution as always. I particularly like the fact that you "downgraded" the trim level.
  9. Congratulations. Welcome to the club!
  10. Now that it's been announced, can we get any details on the 64 Chevelle. Separate hood is noted somewhere, how about clear headlight and taillight lenses? Anything else. And I'm assuming the Warlock was the hinted at MPC announcement?
  11. Very nice work, great color. Those wheels and tires are SICK! What's the source?
  12. Such a great idea. I've bypassed that kit every time I've seen it, even at $10 a couple times. Now I'm kicking myself for not grabbing one because I want to do the same thing! Great job.
  13. Very cool. The flavor of the extended wheelbase of a T, but with an A body. Like Dave said, great idea on the interior.
  14. Sometimes it take a couple tries to get a project to match our inner vision. Thanks for taking us along for the journey. I love the paint color.
  15. Looks great. Nice color combo.
  16. One of my favorite movies, and I love Falcons. Nice rescue.
  17. It's just a way to generate capital outside the normal demographic. If you look at the kits in the Coke series they have all been reissued within the last 10 years as regular issues. 90% of those Coke kits will never get opened, much less built. But more money in the coffers means more money to invest in new/refurbished tooling.
  18. Thanks for sharing James
  19. What is the source for that sweet air cleaner/valve cover combo? Is it from the Revell 41 Chevy, something else, or aftermarket?
  20. Rather than mini-tubbing it maybe widen the fenders slightly by adding material to the back. It looks like you're close to having enough space. I may have an extra set of fenders if you want to use a set to widen them?
  21. The hood in the 2 AMT 40 Ford kits (sedan and coupe) used to fit really well but the fit has sadly degraded over time. Drag City Casting used to sell copies of the original issue hood because it fits better, not sure if they still do.
  22. There's an in depth conversation here, although not much talk about the new release yet since it's just hitting shelves.
  23. Thank you so much!
  24. Anyone casting the flat hood from the Revell Muscle or Indy Pace Car versions of the 72 to use on the 71 coupe? Or does anyone have one they would part with?
  25. Since you mentioned the convertible I went and looked it up since I'm not a big fan of the rear window setup on the 67-69. I much prefer the great big window of the earlier model. I was thinking about trying to transplant the earlier roof onto the 69 body(I'd have to find one first), but maybe a convertible would be the way to go. I'm intent on a 69 because I got some great 3d printed pieces to correct the front grilles and rear panel so I want to use them. How involved would it be to convert the body to a convertible?
