Great build Phil, congratulations ☺ Dave B

Great builds Peter. I also converted the Fujimi coupe into the Sebring winning Spyder some years back using Cady decals and vac forming the screen. Tks for showing Dave B

Hi guys. Bill, as this is a slush mould I have no plans to do any more, sorry. Aurf, you should give casting a try, I'm lazy and my silicon moulds are all one piece but works for me!! Also back casting into an old slot car body is easy, just this body had had fibreglass in it before so it wasn't kind to me. Give it a try ☺ Dave B

Hi Guys, I don't usually post to the workbench but thought I might share my latest project. I have always liked the Lola Mk VI but think the Mecom version (the Mk VI on steriods) looks great so when I was given an old slot car body I did what any keen modeller would do and decided to backcast it in resin. I then took a resin of the glass areas and vacformed them. Next it was into the parts box for various resin pieces to start the build. As this could take me a LONG time I won't post again until complete. Tks for looking

Hi Brian, so sorry to hear about Ed. We pm'd a lot over my Chaparral builds and I wondered why there was no comment on my 2H!! Now I know. Kind regards Dave B -
Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words Dave B

Great build Joao, love sports cars of this era. Tks for posting ☺ Dave B

Tks guys. Ricky, they are 1/24. Curt, you are correct, a mate pulled a couple for me from his unbuilt Aardvark kit. Dave B

I love Maserati's and when I was able to pick up 2 body/chassis pans and 2 sets of resin tyres I could not refuse!! I had to make the windscreen mould and vacform them but everything else required (Herb Deeks photo etched wires, styrene rod for chassis, seats, steering wheels etc where in the parts boxes). I decided to model chassis number 2467, originally sold to Frank Harrison (driven by Carrol Shelby), and subsequently crashed at the Bahamas Speed Week,. It was then sold less engine to Don Skogmo who fitted a Hilborn injected 4.7L Ford motor and had considerable success in regional races. This is my interpretation of 2467, I know neither is exact!! Tks for looking Dave B

Once again tks all☺ Richard, only a box mounted under the body housing a resin intake and Weber's from the Corvette Grand Sport. Tks for your comments. Dave B

Tks all for the kind words. Alan, The rear engined Scarab first raced in Sept '62 and last raced in Nov '65. It was powered by the BPO alloy V8 (Oldsmobile in this case) and ran quad 48mm DCO sidedraft webers. The decals are courtesy of a mate of mine and the wheels and tyres are from my parts box. They are both resin, I'm pretty sure the wheels are minilites, not exactly correct but look OK and the tyres are as you commented Indy Firestones. Once again they look OK, even if not strictly correct. Dave B

I don't seem to be able to build a quick 'box stock' kit any more!! This was going to be it but I preferred the version as raced at Bridgehampton in Sept '64 so this is my take on it. Many tks to my mate Phil for once again supplying the decals I needed to make it look the part. Now back to my slush cast Maserati Birdcage. Tks for looking. Dave B

Tks for sharing Matt, neat build of an unusual kit. Some decent tyres from the parts box would help it immensely Dave B

Tks folks, appreciate the comments. Dave B

Always wanted to build a spyder and when my mate offered to swap his Fujimi Coupe for my Heller I decided to go for it. Had a few issues with the conversion, the least being I lost all the glass!! Luckily I still had the Heller glass from my 350 Can-Am conversion so I managed to vacform over the screen and headlight covers and utilise those. I also painted it based on a review of the Daytona '67 winning car by Road & Track back in a 1981 mag. I was rather disappointed to find when looking on the net that the roundel placing was not reflective of the race winning car. Win a few, lose a few. Anyway I'm relatively happy with it and the flaws are not that visible in the showcase. The last pic includes my 350 conversion based on the Heller P4. Tks for looking Dave B

Tks Dave, just found out about this problem. Was about to post saying "thanks for the good times and comments as I won't be posting any more". Looks like MCM has solved that problem. Tks again. Dave B -

I don't know about you guys but I have only ever posted new builds up here and that leaves an awful lot of built models that I have not, and probably won't, post. The main reason is I am building somewhat better than 30+ years ago and would rather keep some of my failures to myself!!! While having a break from building I decided to restore one of my favourite Cobra's (and I have a lot!!). This 1/16 MPC Cobra was built around 40 years ago and was languishing in the back cupboard with a broken bonnet. As I could not match the blue I decided to paint the bonnet anti glare black. When originally built I did a number of changes from standard: front & rear wheels are original Halibrand centres with rims and slick from 1/12 Tamiya F1 cars; additional reversed scoops in the bonnet (1/25 AMT Cobra scoops); vents in the rear guards; scratchbuilt quick fill fuel cap; header tank in right guard with access through cap in guard; sports windscreen; right hand drive conversion and associated leather covered seats, as you did back then!!, seat belts, etc. After a gently cut & polish I finally decided to post one of my old hackers. Tks for looking Dave B
