I like this idea. Will have to look for one. I'm a bit unsure about exactly how this is configured. It looks like there are pocket slots, for lack of a better description, that the decals can sit in. Can just see this in the photo I think. Seems like is is pretty adaptable for decals of all sizes. OK .. I got convinced looking at it closer. I used to do stamps and I see how it's done. Perfect for all the small decals I have in a box. I found a place online that sells 16, 32 and 64 page versions in various colors. Their pricing is pretty much retail but many other places had raised prices.. including Amazon, though it was about the same if you have free shipping. Coin Supply Express

I just use Sandable automotive primer. Never tried High Build but just doesn't sound right for model use. High Build for a 1:1 application would be pretty thick at 1/25. Sandable works good for me getting mu bodywork smooth and doesn't hide all the detail as long as it's not put on thick. The main reason for me using it, though, is as a barrier for my use of lacquer paint.

This needs to be entered in our Cannonball Run this year .. Sleepers. -
I usually resize my photos to 800x600 and sometimes up to 1200x ... This is a good size to see everything and a good size for web use. They are all .jpeg files at about 90% compression.

Glad to see this build going on as I just got one in a trade that was started. I always admired this scar and was surprised at how detailed the kit was. The one I got looked to be pretty straight in body. Yours is looking very good and I'm appreciating all your comments about the kit and how you're building it.

Glad to have one you age joining the forum and building. When I was your age I was lucky to have enough cash to buy another model .. never mind a 1:1.

an alternative is using Sharpies. As good as the Tamiya clears are, I get even better results on lights with sharpies.

How many do you have going?
Foxer replied to Jonj238's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Too many to count ..at least 20 last count. None are ever forgotten though. -

My 38 yeah old daughter seems to have the same spirit. It's what seems like the most fun at the moment that's most important in life. Sometimes I wish I had a bit more of her free spirit. She didn't spend a lot of time in school .. got a degree from an Agricultural college but never applied it .. except that time hidden in the Vermont Mountains. She always worked very hard, but at minimum wage in the tourist restaurants round here. For a few years she traveled the country in her "hippie van" following the Grateful Dead and selling jewelery she made. She finally decided she wanted to start a dog day care service. She put her all into it and now has a thriving business operating out of a one-time strip bar. And I'm proud as hell of her. -
5 quarts of oil, please ... to go. Looks true to form .. VERY nice!

Looking really good .. nice job on the wood!

I have tried thin brass sheet taped in place. It gives a hard, true line for the scribe to follow.

I did find a brass rod that fits inside well and wasn't sure the knife method would cut the ferrule metal. I will try this. They go into some weber carbs so I cant drill all the way through as it would be in a manifold. Maybe I should look closer at the carbs with that in mind, though. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. EDIT 2/21/15 I did use the knife to cut the ferrules and it worked beautifully. Being "crushable" they must be softer metal than I had assumed ... thanks again guys for kicking me in the butt to do this. I never was a fan of cutting tube this way.

minus 7 is not fun, even in these mountains of western Massachusetts!

It's amazing what's available in "off scale" diecasts compared to plastic kits! The Volvo sparked this .. I had a 145 and have wanted a 1/25 kit forever to replicate it. The number a different 1/43 models available has simply amazed me! Maybe it's time to just do what I'm looking for in whatever scale is there.

It's really beginning to look like a bad year for Ford (forum wouldn't let me use the word I wanted to)! .. I'm loving it! Weathering is looking good .. I did a similar build on a van my daughter owned and it was a blast to do! -
I just got a Monogram version in a trade. It had been started and body was painted. Most body parts are still on the trees. The body itself looks very straight. The A pillars sure are thin but look ok. Everything else looks good by eye. I could take some photos from different angles if you'd like .. it's no problem.

yeah .. Tamiya stand is brilliant .. who paints the underside of anything. anyway ....

That's a cool looking vehicle, and even has an engine despite the small scale!

How about finding a copper wire that will fit fairly tight within the tube? Then you should be able to bend or straighten to whatever shape you need. eheh was typing as afx's suggestion came up. ))
