  1. Street Rodder appears to still be in publication. R and C is gone. Of course I bought R and C and don't care for Street Rodder. Elasped Times, which was a drag racing magazine that mixed current, newstlagia and nostalgia is gone. I've heard rumors that Hot Rod Deluxe is folding. It along with the Rodders Journal and a couple of model car magazines are all I buy now.
  2. I'm working on a gasser and I need a blown big block Chevy. I've looked at a few and they all seem lacking detail. Are there any good blown big blocks available? Failing that, what kit offers a good big block Chevy? All the ones I've looked at seems very soft on details. Thanks
  3. I'd be interested in the AAR concept. My only concern is the rear spoiler. The rear on the street car just doesn't seem the right shape for a spoiler.
  4. What department? They could be useful. If nothing else they're worth a try.
  5. I'm wondering if this could be the type of paint. Was it a lacquer that could be attacking it? It will be interesting to see how resin will react to acrylic paints.
  6. You know most young people don't even know what a hoe is......or a wheelbarrow.
  7. Where's the rusted out rear wheel wells?
  8. Top side looked really good......then the other side. That's a challenge.
  9. Long time printing educator here..... At one time 3M sold E plates. These had a really nice polished surface. These were discontinued about twenty years ago as they required some pretty nasty chemicals to develop. The presses that use these were smaller sheetfeds. That market has pretty much gone to digital printing. A newspaper press would use a hard anodized plate. This results in a rather dull gray finish. I'm not sure how usable those would be. My suggestion is to go to a local hoe improvement store and get some aluminum flashing. If you need it softer you can always heat with a torch and effect its temper.
  10. Sadly most shops that would use these have converted to digital. They're not as common as they were ten years ago.
  11. Guess my original Wildcats are worthless now.....as is my modified stocker. Am glad for the Mailbox but hope its priced in accordance to the parts count and box size.
  12. First off do you really want to detail this engine? Not the best motor to have on full display. If you're looking for a 426 Hemi, the Speed City Resin Hemi parts http://www.speedcityresin.com/PartsPageEngine.html look really nice. I'd start with a better building block.
  13. You've got to wonder when or if this one is going to be reissued.
  14. Interesting its no longer considered a Cuda digger.
  15. I hope this doesn't get moved as I view it as NASCAR modeling. Has anyone dismantled and then detailed 1/64 Nascars? If so would share some secrets? I'd like to add window masks and am wondering if anyone has tricks for that as well as masking the chassis for detailed painting. Thanks!
  16. Your build looks so right.....the first two look like the actual car. Great job!
  17. One point, if you're like me and hearing aid dependent, ultrasonic cleaners interfere with them. When I use any of my three cleaners, I must turn my HAs off. If not they have a loud buzz sound.
  18. I'd still like a list of shops that received it. I know one of my locals dropped it last year. If one of the others got it, I'd pick it up.
  19. Clean builds of very challenging kits. Maybe they didn't win but they're still fantastic on the shelf.
  20. Any usage reports on the coated blades?
  21. Randy what kind of printer?
  22. The decals look better.....not right. Sad thing is the changes to make them right would not be hard in either Illustrator or InDesign. Any decal makers interested?
  23. Depending on the issue this is a great kit. Most I've seen lately were near the end of JoHan and suffered serious flash molded in some "wonderful" color like orange. I haven't seen usable decals on most of the kits, even when new. GREAT Build!
  24. The ones I see that are unusual are the Ashland ones. Ashland was a popular gasoline brand in Kentucky and West Virginia. Their most popular line was Valvoline, which is now a separate company.
  25. Mercy that makes me miss my Chrysler Laser XT, the Chrysler twin to the the Turbo Z. Your build looks dead on. As for the comments of being a fast car.....in 1987, it was the one of the fastest cars made by Detroit. West Virginia had some that were factory specials that could top out at 150.
