  1. What's the latest issue on the news stand? Also can you tell me what's on the cover? My nearest dealer is a bit of a drive for me and I'll only go to pick it up. Thanks, Mike
  2. Looks like the typical MPC dragster slick, rounded corners with the embossed Goodyear removed. Close?
  3. Scratch built blower hat......very impressive.
  4. I'd send Ronnie an email and ask. my dealings have always been good with him.
  5. The Dodge Colt wheelbase was too short for NHRA to run with the hemi. I believe they could have run with a small block but Chrysler didn't have an engine that would produce the same horsepower per cubic inch as either the Ford Cleveland 351 or the small block Chevy.
  6. Don was driving a Rod Shop car. I'm pretty sure it was the long wheelbase car that was featured in Car Craft. It was an altered and featured a wind shield that cam out when you removed the hood.
  7. Any history on the car? I know Don Carlton was running under the Rod Shop banner with a Colt. This is a car I've never seen.
  8. Pretty much the same. Different rear ends and injectors. Beyond that, pretty much identical.
  9. Very nice.....I wish we were still in the era where you could build something like this, be competitive, have fun and not go broke.......
  10. Dave: I'd love to see the test shots of the AM Taurus. I've heard of them for years but believed they were always wishful thinking.
  11. It has some interesting lines....not good lines.....just interesting.
  12. I've found these built up on the auction site. How hard are they to disassemble? Mike
  13. This is a great build up. I remember Hot Rod used to feature engines on their cover. This looks like it was pulled from their cover. GREAT job! I have the 426 version of this engine in the series. I haven't started it but plan to soon. Your effort is so nice......I really want this engine. Mike
  14. That is SOOOOO right looking. Can you tell me what body you're using. I'm guessing AMT. Mike
  15. Wish this one was near. I see a couple of grails there.
  16. Really nice..... where'd you get the body?
  17. This is so right in so many wrong ways. Looks great!
  18. What's your question about SR 30? One possible drive shaft cure would be to offset the engine and run the drive shaft parallel to the engine compartment. You'd need to unwiden the rear tires and modify the rear axles to move the third member to one side. Of course you could really push this and get a jet motor and run it to the side also. Sort like this: http://www.flickriver.com/photos/nbphotoflash/tags/rogergustin/
  19. Far from accurate? You underestimate your skills. This is a really nice build of one of the forerunners of the class.
  20. It looks like the actual car......not a show car......not a model. That's the highest compliment I think any model can receive.
  21. A great start for a kit I need to build also. Have you found a source for decals?
  22. Steevie Reeves is one of those can't miss drivers who did. Everyone was looking for the magic of Jeff Gordon in a series of drivers. Tony seems the only one who so far has come close. I remember the car more as a die-cast than on the race track. Great reminder, great build.
  23. Expensive. Very Expen$ive.
  24. I've had both. I had one of the first Taigs. I returned it as it just seemed cobbled together. Looking at them now, they do seem better but I don't believe they're near the finished product of the Sherline. You can make good products with a Chinese lathe, Taig or Sherline. With the Chinese lathe (unless its from Micro Mark) the first thing you'll need to do is disassemble it, relube it and then reassemble it paying attention to tolerances. The Taig will need assembly and won't have the range of accessories of the Sherline. The Sherline has many accessories that you'll "need" for that random project. I currently have a Sherline lather and two milling machines. If I were to start from scratch without prior experience, I'd get the Sherline. With my limited experience, if I were to replace my Sherline, I'd go the Chinese lathe. If you question the HFS lathes and milling machines, check out Bill Davis's Keeling and Clayton car at http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=59550&hl=%2Bkeeling+%2Band+%2Bclayton I know I don't have the skill to do it on my Sherline.
