Scale Auto Web Site
moparfarmer replied to Chuckyg1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've bought Scale Auto for many years and on their forum too..Fine Scale Modeler is good if you like tanks, planes and ships and belong to IPMS..They can stick their Fine Scale Modeler up their ying yang..I know Model Cars is in trouble and trying to get restarted but here and Spotlight is where it is at.. -
amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
moparfarmer replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Many say this is a simple kit and yes it probably is..Remember a 59 Imperial a few years back..Try and find one now..They were simple and many built them to fantastic builds..Some very good builders on this site did some real nice ones.(Steven's Yellow one comes to mind) The wagon will be a big hit.- 599 replies

moparfarmer replied to Steve H's topic in Model Cars
You sure polished a TURD of a boring car..Nice job, even with the eyebrows..Tacky but tasteful on a Prius.. -
The Jenkins issue had a bench seat also, the other issues do not..Don't know about the newest release

Pactra namel continued.
moparfarmer replied to Brudda's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I painted my first model with two of those jars..Insignia Red..Most of the old Pactra jars you see are the same as the Testors jars..These are really old and bring back good memories..1958 Edsel Convertible everything except the chrome/glass and wheels..Two bottles were just enough..I think 15 cents each in Canada.. -
Blue backs on the wheels would show better than white I think..Very nice job and really like the exhaust dumping out the side..Those Nashes never had it so good or nice..

The original date in May was cancelled..Just checked and no notice of the November 1 date cancelled..I know the Canadians won't be coming down if we can't cross the border and some may still not because of the virus..

WINNER,WINNER,CHICKEN DINNER!....WOW Hope to be able to see it at NNL North in November but the border may still be closed..

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
moparfarmer replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just took interior pieces out of LA Totally Awsome(been soaking a month) Dried lacquer and primer..Used the coarse part of a small sponge and presto all came off..Lacquer color and primer(duplicolor light grey)..I was impressed but think it might have been quicker if I'd have scratched it with a fine brillo pad at first.. -
On another forum I noticed that some are saying the plastic of especially newer or reissued AMT doesn't paint or feel like it did a year ago..Paint doesn't seem to stick and plastic feels like a hard vinyl..Is there something in the newer plastic from off shore that is different? I always thought that all the manufacturers plastic was a little transparent and brittle over the last few year..Is this new..Hope I'am not hi-jacking the thread and if I am maybe adm can move to where is should be..I ask this because of new AMT releases as topic mentions..

All Belvedere's had bench seats unless ordered as drag racing specials.Would be nice if AMT or what ever they are called did a bench like they did in the Jenkins Nova..I used 64 Dodge bench in the one I converted to a two door post..Most people don't really look into the interior or know what the proper patterns are unless it on a rag top..Build on, it may not be correct but who other than most finatic Mopar nuts know..If its like the one on the black cover it will build into a nice car..

13 years on MCM, & 10,000 post
moparfarmer replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Are you the Greg Meyers who worked for Mopar then Mazda and was from California and was on the Model Car List? I know that Greg had some nice builds and stories of 1:1 stuff the manufacturers did.. -
Wow, very nicely done and YES, it does look better with that style roof..Not big on that type of wheel but they set the model off real nice..Excellent work and nice coloring..Super clean, just can't say enough of how its soooo well done..

Two days ago it was Scale Auto to quit publishing after the October issue then read today the Tom Carter has sold Spotlight Hobbies to a couple..Wow things are happening quickly in the model world..Hope this site and the Spotlight site stay active and in use for many years to come..Thank you to both..Whether we(both sites and people) get along or not its for the MODEL CAR HOBBYIST that counts..These two are the BEST sites for MODEL CAR BUILDERS..

Did Wendell Scott ever run a MOPAR or was it just Ford and the odd GM cars? Good driver with what he had and what he had to deal with..
-
Maybe I'am bad here but why would they(Revell) tool up a new body when all the factory did was change tail lights and grill..Basic same body shell..Interior different and dash..Not a big GM know it all but most factories did minor changes to the outside of their cars every second year..
-
That will clean up and build up real nice..Good score..
