moparfarmer replied to JayC's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
They have a nice engine and good chrome for anyone getting a 65 Coronet 2 dr post resin body..got one started, all parts fit and match.now all I have to do is paint.. -
Don't know anything about drift cars but it looks like a short track dirt car..

What do you thin Tamiya Acrylic Bottle paint with if the paint is too thick..Tamiya Thinner or Tamiya Reducer...This for brushing not airbrush...

How high will it go?
moparfarmer replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Although I'am not following the auction a 65 or 66 Chrysler unbuilt in mint box would bring more money, especially a convertible..Had a hardtop (1966) that I sold in our city for $250.00..Guess I got lucky because we don't have that many modelers here in Winnipeg and our city is know to be cheap too..NO one wants to pay big money for anything.. -
AMT 1963 Chevy Impala question......
moparfarmer replied to Mr Stock's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was able to take parts I needed from a 64 that the guys in our model club were passing around in a 64 Impala box..Got the radiator, firewall and rad hoses..Axles were thin like they used to be..Didn't like the molded in tail lights..Did some body work, removed mold marks and tried to sand the sides but they look like someone did bad body work right from the box..Paint came out good considering it was Krylon clear coated with Duplicolor Acrylic Enamen(tall black can) polished with 2000 then 4000 and finished with Meguiar's Scratch X2.0 and Meguiar's Gold Class Paste..Rod Maskiw did some white wall tire and going to use stock hub caps..Now to finish it..Chrome foil done by the King.. -
You know while looking at the pictures I didn't look at who posted them..Then I see the chassis upside down and think Hey, thats Dennis Ezmerlian's work..Sure enough..That is one of the nicest completed models of that that I've seen..

WIP Monogram 1970 Chevelle 80's style street machine.
moparfarmer replied to larman's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That and the 69 SuperBee were the best of that group that Monogram made..Well proportioned.Simple building kits that can be made into tremendous models..You are on your way with yours..Here is one I did many moons ago.. -
Duplicolor touch-up paint question
moparfarmer replied to dmthamade's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
With the off shore plastic its either yes or no..You will find out..Haven't used it with Tamiya Primer, which I think is too thin and doesn't take well to Duplicolor paints which I think are hotter..I use Duplicolor sandable primer on everything and it works good.. -
Very nice job, but on the real deal it is black..
-
Looks like a lot of paint on the pink car but after thougouly dry and polish it will look like glass..I was looking for a pink like that and although I don't like Krylon I'am willing to try it..Is it Fusion or just straight Krylon?
-
Just my own two cents which coming from Canada means my nothing..I think its where the plastic and the kit is designed..Over there they don't know what a proper "E" body Cuda or Challenger should look like..They make the molds and pour the bad plastic we are getting now..

Duplicolor Perfect Match Spray Paint Chart
moparfarmer replied to Jordan White's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Not big on Krylon paint but try Krylon Fusion light yellow..I used it on a 63 Chev which I'll show..Its got Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel Clear on it polished..It might work.. -
Could be maybe something with your brand of primer not being compatable with the paints or plactic from across the sea..
-
I find that Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 is a little more agressive than the Cleaner..I usually start with 2000 wet then up to 4000..Haven't got pads or paper that go any higher but like you said just like the real deal, one panel at a time..
-
When you build it make sure you crack the lower part of the w/shield..Haven't seen one in real life that the w/shield isn't cracked..Read somewhere were it was a factory fault installing it but Yota wouldn't warranty it..

Our city police in Winnipeg had 1971 Plymouth coupes that were Police patrol packages with six cylinder engines..They were available..

On the first pictures that new plastic does look soft..I guess I haven't bought enough newer kits to notice it..Is that something with what we get off the boat? I like what you've done..Looks very good.Especially like the finish right over the plastic..Turned out wow..Going to be a sweet build for sure..

Weird message below MCM Forums Menu
moparfarmer replied to Matt Bacon's topic in How To Use This Board
I did that and the message is gone..Thanks.. -
I've never darkened my door/trunk lines..Real vehicles don't have black lines..I just dust paint a few coats then final coat..I do use a pick and define them then sand down what the pick loosened..Never done lines..

Take a drive into Fargo, the shop on 17th Avenue should have some foil..

Excellent..My mother had a 66 Fury three with one of those days spray on so called vinyl top..It went down the front of the A pillar..Made me think the real deal did too, but NOT..I checked my Plymouth stuff and you did the right call..Work is excellent but I'am not a lover of non stock wheels but those make it look Tough..Remember when I wanted those style wheels on our car but parents said no..I removed hub caps and painted hubs and wheel nuts silver..LOL..

Fantastic, you said you used Tamiya Enamel, never knew they made enamel..Always thought their paints were lacquer based some what..Shows you what I know..

Many years ago I sprayed an older Ford and got the humidity hazing..Just polished it out with Meguiar's Cleaner and all was good..Thats how I deal with humidity problems,,yours might be more of what Mr Obsessive mentioned...
