  1. Welcome fellow Canadian..Just watch when you buy from the US or any other country the shipping is horrendous and brokerage fees are worse..Hope to see some of your work soon..Stay safe and healthy..
  2. Although I originally asked the question I'am just going to work with sanding sticks and paper to make it look decent..Not skilled enough to replace 1/4 panels..on models or real cars either..I'll work till I'am pleased. Didn't notice the grill but the grill on the GTX looks like it goes in too far on the bottom..Too much of angle..
  3. I've used Tamiya Flat Clear on some and also with just a dab(about 1/32" of white mixed with the clear) I like the straight clear better..Three coats just dabbed on the lens..It flows out because its Acrylic and looks good when finished..Here are two results..The blue car is just the clear and the other is with the little white..I've also got a 64 Chev that haven't taken picture but looks better than the two shown..
  4. Saw on another site a post of a nicely done 67 Coronet..I know the hump on the top of the 1/4 panel is too high but noticed the lower part of the belt line looks to be not as deep as the rest of the body..Looks like someone put sheet metal over the rear wheel housings to cover rust..Looks bowed out to me..Never noticed that before..Any one else?
  5. Nice work on the model..If Curtis Turner had a car with a motor that wouldn't blow up, it usually ended up in winner's circle..Run it till it blows is the way he and Buddy Baker drove..
  6. The whole 58 AMT Plymouth looks like its pushed up in the middle of the door..I've seen lots finished and they look like they got stuck on a high curb that made the body bowed upward in the middle.Nice kit but engine leaves lots to be desired too..
  7. Carl..Very nicely built and clean to the bone..Being Testors Rattle can I can smell the paint from here..Their paint goes on very nice but never dries unless put in the cooker(dehydrator)..
  8. Maybe its me but 800 grit is too much..I never sand with anything under 1500 wet and always prime then sand again with 1500 wet or 2000 wet..Primer I use is Duplicolor sandable primer or Plasticote sandable primer..Both are lacquer based and you can paint all brands over it..Enamel,acrylic or lacquer..
  9. Very nice clean build..I like the smaller height A pillars/w/shield on the one you did over the real ones with the taller glass..Very nicely done and super clean..
  10. I made a big mistake..Jim Pascal won the 1964 World 600 race NOT the 1965..It was won by Fred Lorenzen in a Ford..In 1965 Jim Pascal finished 19th..
  11. Very nice model and well done..Is this car before he drove for Petty or after in 1965..I know he won the World 600 in a Plymouth by Petty..
  12. About the 2020 Corvette..It does nothing for me..Sorry and neither do the last 3-4 year old Corvettes..Just overpriced cars to look at..To show people I have money to buy one..Status symbol..Not for me..I'am not a tree hugger type of car person either..
  13. I wouldn't touch a thing..Leave it like it is..Very nicely done and you should be very proud of your work..
  14. Further behind in line behind the White Ford is that a Petty car with a white roof? Nice Truxmore car too..Those were the good days of NASCAR..
  15. MCW 1965 Coronet 2 dr post sedan. Fought me all the way..Painted 1965 Dodge Dark Turquoise and Cleared with Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel(tall black label can)..Sanded to 4000 wet and polished with Meguiar's Scratch X2.0 then finished With Meguiar's Gold Class paste..Not a show model but a good 5 foot build..Glad I finished it..Had the real deal although they weren't available new in Canada..Tried to do the real car justice..
  16. Excellent job on the modifications and especially on the steering wheel..The one you show was the power steering wheel they used in 1959 on the Custom Royal..The red one at the top was the power steering wheel on the Dart and upscale Polara models..Enjoy your build. I have in my stash an Excel model of a 59 Custom Royal and an original screwed together 60 Dart that is brush painted..
  17. 1964 Fury Convertible, restored in 1992 and keep in good shape..DRIVE to shows..Many trips(10) to Minneapolis Mopars in Park and done quite well with awards..Sioux Falls too about (8) Hard to keep clean now with my age and dexterity..Put on about 45,000 miles since done..440 CuIn cloned to look like 426 Street Wedge..Did have some judges fooled including the so-called Mopar Geru..
  18. Steve's Black Convertible was the WINNIPEG MODEL CAR CLUB's Most Road Worthy award a few years ago at the NNL North in Minneapolis/Bloomington Mn..Six of us from our club looked at about 500 models and between us the unanamous choice was the Black 62 Ford..Excellent build that stood out from all the rest..Very clean and well done..That is what it takes..
  19. I'am not sure how long the 350 went but it could be one year..I have only had Mopars and own a 64 Fury Convertible that was restored to stock in 1991 by Aime/Verna Verrier in LaBrocquerie..Its a 440 cloned to look like 426 street wedge..I've driven to shows in Minneapolis(10) time and won class same and Sioux Falls S.D. about as many..I drive to shows,no trailer queen here..Here is a few pictures from a show two years ago in Winnipeg..Got peoples choice here..Lucky..You could drive anywhere in North America trouble free..I carry no tools when I travel to shows..Just cleaning supplies..I've put about 60,000 miles since restoration..Lots of cleaning when it goes out..
  20. You corrected the kit engine..It is supposed to be a big block but they kind of screwed it up by putting distrubuter at the back..That in 1958 was a 350 which morphed into the 361-383 and so one..After I look at your model you've really done a super job..Stare at the pictures and admire your work..Very nice..
  21. Nice work Aaron. Where in Manitoba are you from? Winnipeg..Email me at moparfarmer@hotmail.com..Have you been to one of our meetings? WINNIPEG MODEL CAR CLUB..Very nice and smooth build..
  22. That is as close to the real deal as you can get..Now you need Logan and his girlfriend standing beside it..Great work..
  23. Tried the Tamiya Quick dry liquid on clear lenses in a grill..No fogging and glue flows around and they won't come lose..Nice tip thanks to this site..Lunajammer..
  24. I had one and sold it. its still around an older guy in Headingly or Charleswood has it now..Thats what I'am trying to build..I only build box stock as I don't wire or plumb..Patience and dexterity have lots to do with that..As long as its clean and doesn't show hair/fingerprints or glue marks I'am pleased..Got to look good though..How are you doing?
