GM, in the past, has been a bear to deal with on licensing.........so......

Varying the scale does not avoid copyright laws.......'Trade Dress' covers that all a round. The scale issue is more that they want to fit the same size box for each car and increase or decrease the sacle to fill said box.

Nope....does very little to help. Washing hands and being careful around others is much more helpful. Even saw a news report that admitted that this morning.

The large amount of speculation about Revell over the past year or so is due to the appearance to the public of a 'cloak and dagger' like moves. A good personal friend is a hobby wholesaler. When Blitz finalized the purchase of Revell USA they did let everyone go, locked the building and had ZERO personnel in the USA to answer any questions about anything....including scheduled shipments that never showed up. This went on for weeks.....lending to all the rumors to what was going on. Blitz either didn't care or was unaware of the issues they were creating by the information blackout. It then became a game of 'telephone' where info good and bad was passed along and often changed each time it was repeated leading to all the misinformation. I did freelance work for Monogram/Revell since the 1980's and really wanted to know what was going on. But hard info was not out there. When Ed Sexton showed up as a Rep of the new Revell I contacted him. I got only basic info about what was going on but had to be happy with it. So all this leads to tons of bad info and lots of guessing.. Pretty much SOP when things like this happen....human nature. One FACT I know is Blitz got the deal of the century buying Revell.......the retired banking analyst in me says so!

JADA is the big offender in labeling a model 1/24 and it's NOT! I bought a FnF Pink Honda S2000 (online ) that was labeled 1/24 it was much closer to 1/18.....as big as a Dodge Charger!!! Why???? Because the mass market 1/24 die cast are really just toys made for kids and no one cares....

The 'other' Graffiti cars ?
Dave Van replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have built a few AG cars but not as many as planned......... Steve/Toad 58 from Revell kit.....it was going to be a die cast but Revell changed their mind. Modelhaus wheels and Caddy tail lights. For a more obscure AG car how about the T bucket Milner is talking to while sitting in the parking lot??? We never see it clearly so I did a best guess version.... -
WOW....great work!! I like the real car and would love a model. My neighbor bought a new one back in the day.....just like this....

That's an old box art.....done mostly for WalMart run of kits. All had that logo on them and almost all of them had bad box art. The hood fits on the model....someone didn't even look at it when they spent 3 minutes doing the box photo.

A way to get around licensing?
Dave Van replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We did this with the Model King reissued MPC stock car kits. We included the decals to make 'Name' drivers but jumbled up.....the modeler just cut them up to make a real car......but we had no time or money to license 3 drivers for each kit. It can and is done. -

It's the Real Thing...

The new tool snap 69 Charger is a decent tool.....the hood suffers the same issue the old MPC tooling has from the Daytona conversion. It is dead flat without and bull nose shape to it.My corrected Dirty Mary version of the DoH snap kit. -

I'm a Coke or nothing (soft drink) guy....and I'd have a 69 Charger in my garage if I could....but the 1/1 is wrong........ -
1/25 AMT 1977 Ford Delivery Van w/Coke Machine
Dave Van replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
CORRECT -
It's a often over looked kit. The only issue I had was between the air filter housing and hood....watch it. My box stock build with kit shirts. PS the raised area on the hood scoops should be sanded down....did not know when I built mine!

1/25 AMT 1977 Ford Delivery Van w/Coke Machine
Dave Van replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
WELL!!!!! not a Van fan???? Kidding...I got one....coke bottles are clear green with decals for different eras....and the machine is different than other Coke machines offered. Neat decals for all too. May need another! -
Very sorry for your loss.....
-
I realize the differences....but 99% of public will not....so I bet we see decals and gumballs added as is.
-
With the modern modular tooling this will show up as other kits I am sure. Police, taxi or fire. Then mix parts trees with 2 door....more versions.

Good pick! These Revell kits go together well and look good. Folks here will be happy to help if you have questions. This is my Revell snap KW from the same series. Box stock build -

I should say the 'need' for the changes......like I did not see the A pillars were the wrong color.....but your fix then made them stand out. Not sure I can do $300 or not...but I'll watch yours! -
