The Bat Cave (Post your Batman themed builds)
David G. replied to David G.'s topic in Community Builds
Hello Everybody! Here's my latest addition to the Batman Universe. The DC Comics 1960's Batmobile by Polar Lights. This car is based on the Lincoln Futura Batmobile from the TV series in the Sixties which was designed by George Barris. In addition to the detailed scale model, figures for both Batman and Robin are included. For those who may be interested in how it all came together, I have a complete build thread in the WIP Section. And more photos of the completed model in the Under Glass Section. As always, thanks for taking a look. David G. -

Thank you Carl. Thanks Mario, I appreciate that. Thank you Chaz, it's kind of you to say so. David G.

I thought that the first couple of images were your inspiration photos, until I realized that they were the actual diorama. ? Obviously, very convincing rust effects and a nicely composed scene overall! David G.

Thank you David, I'm rather pleased with the way they turned out too. Thanks Ray, I appreciate it. Thank you Emre. I'm glad I went with the blue instead of black, I think it turned out much better. My cell phone camera took excellent photos until it was updated about a year after I purchased it. After the update, the colors and overall contrast seemed to be muted or flattened and it became difficult to get anything resembling a good photo. This has happened with the last two phones I owned and is what largely inspired me to get an actual digital camera. I think LG does this to goad their customers into "upgrading" to a newer model. I have to say that in spite of the learning curve of adapting to a digital camera, I'm much more pleased with the control I have over the image quality. I do miss the convenience of using my phone to take photos but I never know what the next update will bring as far as photographic quality. Best Regards, David G.

Hello Everybody! Here is the DC Comics 1960's Batmobile by Polar Lights. This car is based on the Lincoln Futura Batmobile from the TV series in the Sixties which was designed by George Barris. In addition to the detailed scale model, figures for both Batman and Robin are included. The kit directions call for the body to be painted gloss black but I chose Tamiya TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue. I think black would have been a little too intense. In comic books black is usually represented in shades of dark blue. The model in box illustration also appears to be dark blue. That's probably what set the image in my mind's eye. This car has a great profile and yes, those are valve stems on the wheels. Courtesy of Polar Lights. That's all for now. These photos are the best of about fifty that I took for the session. I want to play around with my camera settings a little more to see if I can obtain some better images. As always, thanks for taking a look and please feel free to comment. David G.

Hello Everybody! This one is completed. As soon as I get some photos, I'll post them in the Under Glass section. In the meantime, here is a test-fit photo that really captures the color. As always, thanks to everyone for their comments and encouragements. I always enjoy the feedback. David G.

Thank you Pierre. Ironically, I think that black would have been too much, in some ways the blue seems more subtle. David G.

Excellent work on the decals and paint on the Mustang. The chrome on the wheels looks great both on the car and the trailer. What a great pair! David G.
