  1. As near as I can tell from looking at the model kit, this version is based on the Ford... or Willys Jeep that would have been manufactured in 1942... or as late as 1955. There's just not enough detail to chop it that finely. Painting is easy when everything is the same color. I did give the seats a light spray of tan paint to give them more of a canvas look. Chassis with basic "mud" wash. Who ever heard of a clean Jeep? More mud with some rust and oil thrown in for good measure. The dash detail includes data plates that I printed for the glove box and instrument detail. I painted the gauges black then lightly sanded them to remove the paint showing the engraved detail. And of course, a dirt wash for the body. As Always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.

  7. Ok then, There seems to be some interest in a Car Wars build thread. Now should I start a separate thread or switch this one over? For those who are unfamiliar, I'd probably have to post some information about the Car Wars game and a bit of its history. Let me know what you think. David G.
  8. Thanks Alan and Andre, maybe we should start a Car Wars build thread. I already have a couple more ideas in the wings. Long live the AADA- Phoenix Chapter, 602! David G.
  9. I wonder if ammo is more expensive than gas... David G.

  12. Thanks Mike- The decals actually changed the character of the car quite a bit. I just wish they'd taken a little more care in the layout of the ends and how they mated with the belt-line of the car. David G.
  13. Excellent Progress! David G.
  14. This one is now finished and can be seen in the Under Glass section. Thanks Everybody! David G.
  15. Here's a story that I'm sure many of us are familiar with: I started this kit as a quick build while I was collecting parts for another project, my 77 AMC Hornet. After opening the Pacer and claiming the front seats along with steering wheel and attached column, I felt that I needed to do something with the rest of the kit. I couldn't just let it sit there, right? The interior of this car is so tremendously visible that I felt I needed to do something to dress it up. Ultimately, I decided to build the Pacer as a vehicle inspired by a game I used to play back in the 80's, Car Wars. This would allow me to add some fun details, weapons, targeting computers etc. I had multiple difficulties with this kit, some of which I'm sure were caused by the suspension modifications I made, but I finally got it knocked together. So, here it is! I lifted the car front and rear to give an "off road" stance to match the knobby tires I selected for it. The kit decals definitely have a bold 70's vibe to them. "And a brush bar up front to complete the bill." Who needs a horn when you have a .50 cal with a roof hatch? I made a futuristic looking bar code number plate for it. Here's a bit of the detail I made for the interior. And the interior itself. If you'd like to see all the boring details, here's a link to the build thread. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
  16. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Amazing work! David G.

  21. For my 55 Chevy, I made all this interior junk using various methods. For those who are interested, here is a link to the build thread. It's a rather old thread but I do go back and look at from time to time. David G.

    Junk.

Very realistic rust and distress- most impressive! David G.
  23. I always enjoy seeing your work Chuck. You have a knack for capturing the gritty commercial part of transportation. David G.
  24. Found some time and energy to do a little work on this one. I started placing the decals. I'm going to see if I can get them to settle into the door gaps. I made a bar-code license tag I think it adds to that "Retro 70's Alternate Future" vibe. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
  25. Most impressive! I'll definitely be following this project David G.
