  1. That was the main thing that stuck out to me when Revell 'redid' the 'Cuda. It's rear end was still too big, so if you fixed that, I know it goes a long way in making that car look so much better. There was something about the C pillar that was a bit off to me also.........like it was too short or something, but not overly terrible. Still not as egregious as those in your face hind quarters.
  2. Thanks for all the nice comments fellas! Hopefully later this week I can get a thread started on the '68 convertible with some progress pics.
  3. Ahhhh yes! The 'ole "4X4" appearance of those MG's! Back in the mid '80's I had a '71 MG Midget (yes I could get into one) and I do remember being parked to newer mid '70's MG's at the time and how mine was noticeably lower than those. Gotta love the regs at the time. Styling is subjective, but if it weren't for the fact that many of those '70's cars were good looking, we'd have whole lost generation of vehicles due to those battering ram bumpers! Yuck!
  4. Lack of side pipes notwithstanding, I LIKE that Cobra! The Olds kit has been a perennial favorite for many over the years. For what was tooled many years ago, it's held up well and yours is lookin' mighty nice!
  5. I've thought about that, but I have other models which I haven't posted here which could show the differences. Besides, I've already taken this one apart! Later on once I really get rolling, I'll start a new thread for this one. Thanks for the idea though..........I did have my mind set on getting this one redone as I've got paint for it and all. I have a '57 Corvette I'll have to post sometime which I did about a year before this one. You want to see a stark contrast between that and the one I did 15 years later?? Yikes! This one I don't think I even painted........I think I just clearcoated the plastic for whatever reason and I've always hated that 'see-through' look you get when you don't put primer on the plastic.
  6. Absolutely LOVE that '60 Chevy!
  7. Alright folks.........she's all done! Done as far as I'll go with it..............just a pic here, and you can take a look here for more pics.
  8. Finally got this one done! At least as far as I'm going to take it. Some things I had to leave on the cutting room floor. For instance, MPC gives you no provision for windshield wipers. Looking at how shallow the cowl is in relation to the shape of the hood, if I tried to put in wipers, the hood would be sticking way up in the air, so I let those go. Also, the scripts were quite faint even after the original paint was stripped. IMO, my attempts at painting these are not as good as I'd like and I'm not that good at the BMF under paint technique. Each time I try that the BMF tears spoiling the appearance. PE is the best way to go for me, but the lack of a PE set for '74's, I just had to make do with what I have. Before............ After....... Not a lot of engine detail as I wanted to make this as simple a build as possible. Just the obligatory wiring, fuel lines, and a couple hoses. Here's the next one that's been neglected for a long time. The '68 L88 427 convertible which I originally built in 1988. VERY dusty and the soft top is among the missing. I recently got another soft top and this will be taken apart and repainted Corvette Bronze. New or redone wheels are in order, better detailed engine and redline tires this time around. In the future I'm going to be doing more of these redo/rescues. I'm at a point in the hobby (and in life) that I want to get more done. That doesn't mean I won't be doing any more superdetailed builds, just changing the focus a bit more on projects that I've had literally in mind for a very long time, that need to see the light of day. Thanks for lookin' folks! EDIT: I deleted the pics in this second post and re-ran them through my photo editor. It bugged me that they were a bit 'dark'. I usually do this, but it slipped my mind. Looks better on my monitor on this end!

  10. Excellent conversion! Interesting that Johan never did this one as a four door as that was their specialty. I see you also corrected the windshield header as it was different than the two door hardtop. Everything's done so nice and clean, one would swear it was a kit produced!
  11. Wow! Very nice! A kit I've had for many a year now, but just haven't gotten to. I also have the roadster transkit by HRM........I don't know when I'd get to that one. Gary, those figures you were talking about are here. Very neat as they come in G Scale which is about right for 1/24-25.
  12. If this were a full detail kit, I'd seriously look into getting one. It's a curbside though which is a shame as that's what made the car. Italian looks with good 'ole American iron oomph!
  13. Dave that's interesting because in the past I've taken pictures with my phone (iPhone 6 Plus) and had the GPS location service turned off. I then took the pics and put them in my PC and I was not able to get the EXIF data off of them using software which can do so. Now subsequent updates since then, they very well may have changed the software so like you said, whether it's on or not the tracking is still taking place. Ain't 2018 technology grand??
  14. They are using the EXIF data that your pics contain when you're taking pics. You can turn off the location service when you're taking pics, that should put the kibosh on the data. Or, when you load the pics on your hard disc for instance, there is software that will take out the EXIF data.
  15. Yup! And the Ford GT40's, the Cougar II's and the Indy car which name escapes me at the moment.
  16. Yup..........look no further than your 1:1 car shows. I see more and more '70's and '80's cars showing up all the time. I gotta agree------time marches on and 30 years from now, there won't be too many interested in the stuff we like now. The simple reason being it's not going to be relatable to most and the reality is our generation of folks will be quickly checking out. Just like today, I have a hard time relating to cars made in the '30's and '40's. Many of them were already off the road by the time I came along. Still, I like the whole concept of making simple and fun to build cars for younger ones to get into the hobby. Judging by how successful the Mustang kits were when they came out, this is not a bad idea at all. My only issue with that particular car is they never followed up (yet) with a full detail glue kit for whatever reason.
  17. I'd like an honest to goodness '69 Trans Am to go over that '68 Firebird, or a neat '67. Either one I'd buy as a snapper and then buy the glue kit to finish it off.........or build as is as a slump buster.
  18. No, missed that one. IIRC, it was too snowy that period of time and I didn't trust the roads or the parking area. Perhaps this one coming up I'll get to if the weather cooperates (for me).
  19. That scene looks VERY familiar as I was in high school at the same time. Hardly a foreign car in the bunch.........the exact opposite you would see now.
  20. Well, I got this on my doorstep recently as I couldn't resist another rather somewhat forlorn model I came across on the 'Bay. I also went ahead and bought another new '69 Boss 302 kit to one day restore this properly. I can see where the roof was joined to the body as it wasn't filled in the rear deck quite as well as I'd like. There's some proportionality issues I see with this roofline. Also, the rear window needs to be 'tunneled' a bit more according to pics I have. Of course, that front end has gotta go! I came across this car recently on the 'net.............would make a GREAT modeling subject! Gotta put redlines on mine though..........they were still de riguer as far as muscle cars were concerned in '69.
  21. Fwiw, the errors I see are not super egregious to the point that I consider this unbuildable. I can fix glaring issues like the quarter window shape, curvature of the front fenders, and the interior foibles. Like the Moebius '61 Pontiac I just look at it as a way to show others what can be done if one wants to take the time to make a good representation of a particular car. BINGO! The way the kit making industry is currently, I'm a little surprised we get to see this kit at all with a correct front end at that! I can deal with the rest..................
  22. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like it!
  23. Why thanks Tom! I consider that a real compliment! Just some small details to take care of........went in to work early this morning for double time, so I'll try to see what I can do today and maybe have all this wrapped up by the weekend. I might have to swipe the outside mirror out of the Revell '69 kit-----I could make one, but I want to get this done before the bell rings in 2019. That way I can know I got at least one done this year! Thanks Thomas! I've tried to use those gloves in the past, but they tend to be a bit tight on my hands and they also made the model feel 'slippery' especially after it's been waxed up. The chamois cloth because it's actually like 'skin' tends to give me more grip-------something I definitely need while on the home stretch!
  24. For whatever reason, I was getting a sense of Deja Vu with the whole subject of the '70 Mustang front end. Here's a thread I dug up from 2007 that goes into this quite a bit. Just thought I'd pass it along for those that weren't here then..........my how time flies!
