Looking good. -
The difference is when you buy the file the seller has given you the right to make as many parts as you want and they will not make any more from that file from you. When you buy a part from a seller you only get the parts and no right to use the file. The costs for any product is based on what it costs for labor , material costs , and the design time for thee product. That is why when a new technology comes out the products are more expensive becuase of those development costs. There are always people who want to own a product first and are willing to pay more to get that new technology. Once the development costs are recovered then the prices go down. The prices for 3d printers are a perfect example of this.

Paint and final assembly are always the most challenging part of building. Painting candies are always difficult to get consistent coverage. Although it's not what you wanted to use the orange tinted hood looks great. Looking forward to seeing this finished.

Sorry to hear about the paint issues. However looks great to me. I like the orange hood . As far as the hood not matching it is always difficult to.get an even tones with candy clears when there are seperate parts like a hood. What I do is do paint the body and hood separately and then have the hood and body together for a final coat. It just takes practice to getting a good system.

Johan 1955, Powell pickup

The biggest problem is that people equate the prices on eBay as an indication that the kits are going to be a financial success. Auctions prices only indicate that there were multiple people that were willing to spend the money and nothing more. The basis for producing a kit is there is sufficient demand to get a return on investment on the costs of producing a kit otherwise its not going to happen. Although scanning and restoring or creating older kits is a little less expensive there are still substantial cost in producing those kits. And again there has to be enough demand to justify those costs. -
Somehow it doesn't surprise me that something that incredibly stupid was done. I guess the logic was the hull was 13 cm thick so it wasn't a problem. Will be curious to see the failure analysis report has to say since they've recovered the wreckage. I think that there are going to be multiple problems found.

Those door locks and window cranks are amazing work. Are you going to drill hole for the window cranks to. Out them. The details you add to your projects are a testament to the things that can be accomplished when one has the patience to do them. -

Round 2 would have to create an all new kit. The Javelin kits they did were just the Johan kit in an AMT box. -

I agree with the 1971 Javelin. I could see it being dor Round 2 but it would be 1/25th scale. Just don't see buying the Johan name would be worth much as the name wouldn't be known by a lot of modelers and for the little you be asquiring.. Besides for as long as Okey has had it he would have sold the rights . I suspect he wanted too much for it he rights. As others have said I think that this is dead issue at this point and not worth wasting time on this. If you're going to fantasize dream of hitting the lottery. A letter to Mobieus or Round 2 for that Javelin kit would be much more productive. -

Unfortunately even with rules there are some who chose to ignore them because they feel it's cheaper to pay the fines. It true there are always risks but the best choice is to try to eliminate all of the risks you can. There is a huge difference in taking risks and being stupid about taking the risks that can be minimized using standard common sense practices.

A couple of observations. First there was a disturbing rumor that the carbon fiber used to build the sub was bought cheaply becuase it was no longer viable for aircraft usage. Second you have to think the proper testing wasn't done because of trying to save money. Was that micky mouse mount done that way because it would cost more to do it right for something that's going to be operated in such a harsh environment. Third if your solution to a credible whistle blower is to fire them then you aren't going to hire people that won't rock the boat. And if you are trying to save money and you aren't going to get people that are best quality for the job. Although given the nature of the monitor mount I find it hard to believe that anyone could believe that was an acceptable way to do it. Not the foundation for making sound decisions for such a harsh unforgiving environment. Unfortunately a guarantee that a disaster is going to happen. Not a question of if rather than when.
