If you're going Pro Street, then the elongated manifold runners look perfect ! However, if that's a race car, I would have left them short. Those runners are usually 'tuned' to a certain length for a reason.....Have you thought about modifying those carbs and manifold into a fuel injection unit ? Edelbrock manufactures a F.I. unit that resembles a carb; it only controls the air, while the fuel is injected into the manifold runners.....'Z'

who makes this resin body?
Steven Zimmerman replied to prostockmania's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The 'Monte' version has a chopped roof; Ed cast 2 versions of this one, but very few of the second version were cast before the mold broke. The second version has the ground effects that are on the first' monte' version,, but has the wheel well openings modified to resemble those on the 82/87 Monte Carlo . It was Ed's decision to call that a Monte Carlo Phantom sedan delivery, despite my objections.........'Z' -
who makes this resin body?
Steven Zimmerman replied to prostockmania's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks ! I forgot to mention that it also came with a grille/ headlight unit, and was designed so the rear side panels could be trimmed for a 2 door wagon; used an AMT/ MPC Elky for a donor kit. The Revell El Camino kit WILL NOT WORK, it's 1/24 scale......'Z' -

I mastered that for Ed Fluck senior, back around 1997. I still have the original master , and it came with an interior, cowl hood, and front and rear bumpers. Ed also cast a similar 'bu wagon with the El camino SS front end and a rolled rear pan with 'vette tail lights; also mastered by me. Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man -
Cursing....Really?
Steven Zimmerman replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's a rule. Abide by it. I worked in a factory for 30 years, was a bouncer in a BYOB(bring your own bottle) after hours establishment(Midnight / 5 am) for 10 years, I can curse with the best (Worst?) of them.... but I don't do it in here. It's called RESPECT. -
I was at a show in eastern Ohio, with a 79 Phantom 2 d00r sedan delivery that I entered in custom class. Didn't pay much attention till I went to put it away, someone had picked it up and set it down hard enough to move the frame .050 into the body so that the hood would not shut. Asking the judges why this model didn't place, after taking first place all summer long, he said....Disqualified because your hood didn't fit! Never saw a model stolen, but at the IPMS regionals in Pittsburgh, some low life scum bag stole the first place trophy in the 'youth' division (sponsor club made it right)....'Z'

Norm's resin is the best i've ever seen. I drop a hundred bucks at his table most years at NNL east, and well worth it. -
Mike, I could look at builds like yours ALL DAY !.... Makes me want to head for the bench and start (another ) Street Rod !...'Z'

Just a quick observation.....
Steven Zimmerman replied to george 53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Technically, that Camaro is a 70 1/2. The 70 Camaro looked just like the 69 (I know, I owned a Hugger orange, black' halo' vinyl roof, orange houndstooth interior 70). Secondly, George is referring to the drive train, which is what REALLY made a Baldwin Motion....HORSEPOWER ! Available in various degrees of decadent tire-obliterating gobs of Horsepower, most 70 (1/2) Motion Camaros were retrofit with Big Block Chevy 454 Cubic Inch engines. The Motion option sheet was rather large,(and ranged from 'lotta money' to OUTRAGEOUS money'....Anybody remember the Baldwin Motion 454 VEGA ? -

I make mine by wrapping soft wire into a correct dia. screw (for parallel spacing...)....'Z' -
If those tail lights are what I think they are,you can buy them at most craft stores; they come on a sheet of 'peel n stick 'stickers in several differant sizes and look pretty good, except you sometimes have to trim the edges with an exacto knife. I've found them in blue, red, and silver, and love em...'Z'

Shaving door handles and locks...
Steven Zimmerman replied to bigmikevee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are many aftermarket kits that deal with this. Some have a small button that is hidden somewhere on the car,but most have a 'keychain' control similar to the ones on newer cars. most of these pop the door open about an inch with adjustable springs/solenoids(some doors are a LOT heavier than others) Unless your battery is completely dead, most of these will work even on a very 'low' battery,as they use little power, not much more than the watch on your wrist...'Z' -
Found at the local 'Advance Auto' and 'Auto Zone' auto parts stores, two part glazing and spot putty for under ten bucks. Made by 3m under the BONDO brand,3 oz. putty with .5 oz. hardener,$7.99 . The 'Icing' I've been using, while a much bigger tube, usually runs around 30 bucks a tube. I haven't tried it yet,but it works the same way, with a 5 minute working time before it sets up,and is sandable in 20 minutes....Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man

I really like where you're goin with this !

Well done build of a fairly nice,if somewhat 'fiddley' kit, you did a better job then I EVER could have with those tires ! Only thing I might have tried - maybe a black wash on the grille to accentuate the bars? I've found,on a grille like this,if you Barefoil the whole grille you can cover the whole thing with Sharpie black marker and polish the bars with a Q tip and it works well. (Don't try this over 'kit' chrome,as the chrome will polish off).....Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man

I agree with what George said 100 percent ! I have a whole box of 'Hot Wheels' projects in a box, even a '56 Nomad with a chopped roof, this article may motivate me to finish one ! I read (and re-read,and....) every article in both Model Cars and Scale Auto; usually something helpful no matter what the subject !.....'Z'

Tips, Tricks & Confusion

Don Yost is one of the most delightful, talented, entertaining, and unbiased people I've ever met...By 'unbiased, I mean he picks on everybody EQUALLY !(GRIN) secondly,I don't see where we need to change ANYTHING on here. It's simple.....you read the posted header, you either 'click' on it,or you don't !....How simple can that be? "Overcomplicatitus sets in once again,IMHO....'Z'
