  1. this is the one i was thinking, but it's been out of production for 50 years or so! http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/nos-alexander-scale-models-little-75040514
  2. bummer; this is a great aftermarket supplier. best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  3. in context, i understand your complete response and hope you don't object to me taking the above quote out of context. time is obviously a constraint for all of us, and the amount required to fulfill your suggestions would be substantial. i'll bet a cookie if you asked most guys how a specific goal was achieved, they'd at least get you going in the right direction.
  4. i think "the Kid" is supposed to be Eddie Munster aka Butch Patrick. i saw him about 8 or 10 years ago at a car show sitting at a table waiting to sign autographs. no one remembered who he was and i felt really bad, sad, for him - he looked lost and alone. guess he's had his trials & tribulations along the way.
  5. interesting front x
  6. interesting bit of information
  7. i think blades are like changing the oil & filter in your car: the brand is not so important as the frequency. i use excel blades x the hundred pack, but don't think they're any better or worse than the rest. i'll change the sharpest cutter every couple of days. don't really want to sharpen them although some do. and the number two/ second sharpness knife never really made it into my sequence of operations. i just have 2 knives with sharp blades.
  8. i'll assume this is supported by a bunch of legalese, but would offer that everything cannot be defined by the "letter of the law" if those affected are to remain happy. building codes are minimum standards and who wants a minimum end result? if a manufacturer is expecting repeat business, at the very minimum should communicate with his (potential) customers. ignoring them is only going to annoy. every business can determine how much commerce they completed, but how many can predict what could have been theirs?
  9. the engine itself is a work of art.
  10. variation method: http://www.modellversium.de/tipps/6-detaillieren/8030-.html
  11. came across this - straightening plastic: http://www.austinsms.org/Straightening-Warped-Plastic-Parts.php
  12. that's one worth waiting
  13. could the headlights be moved a tad closer together without much trouble?
  14. anyone have information regarding a wicker (or cane) bodied Mini? my Tamiya mini - rally version about 14$ from hobbylinc! - came yesterday and my best guess is carbon fiber scale motorsport decals for the panels (yellow over black paint) but i know someone has a better way.
  15. this ties in with the constructive criticism vs atta boy thread. one good/ other not so much.
  16. great looking. didn't an amt kit have a gadget that looked like a bicycle wheel and attached to the rear bumper collecting data for something like this project? maybe 1964?
  17. i've used this with some success: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83910&page=3 (post #42) had the clamp & wood/ hardware, so it was just a half-hour in the shop
  18. the whole idea is unknown to me ( i still marvel at the magic of radio), but Dremel is offering a 3D printer about the size of, yup, a breadbox. 999.99$
  19. that'll look good in the stable
  20. it's a conflict to me. on one hand i can appreciate the thoughtfulness and details that go into building all "styles" in the same manner i can understand tuner enthusiasts and model T fiends: we're all car guys at base level. but about half of the cars shown, including the winner, are just too contemporary for my inner gow-job.
  21. maybe she was calling triple-A? everyone's so quick to judge...
  22. since november 1970; now un-tired, but who's counting? thanks
  23. just what i need ('53 Ford pick-up; don't tell!)
