  1. Here a few more of mine. The pictures are not that great, but I had fun! First the 1950 Ford with the optional expensive red cotton fiber gas cap. This is a conversion I built back before the stock parts got added to the kit. A 1950 Chevy that I made into a base model, no side rear windows. The red 1960 Ford is from Modelhaus. The back one is a conversion using an AMT 1953 F100 for the bed and frame.
  2. Bandit Resin used to make one, not sure of the quality or availability. If you are open to diecast, these show up fairly often. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-Chevy-Sedan-Delivery-Metal-Display-pc-used-needs-some-cleaning-/351726381253?hash=item51e486a8c5:g:k08AAOSwh-1W3aqG
  3. I often think the II has gotten a bad rap. People like to deride the Mustang II, but it was a product of its time. It was designed for a buying public that no longer cared about performance after the hangover that came from the excesses of the 60s. We can't make fun of its Pinto chassis without remembering that the original Mustang rode on the Falcon chassis which was the Pinto of its day. They were ubiquitous, disposable and made to a price point. For the time they were good cars, especially when compared to their other domestic competition. Chrysler had essentially backed out of the Pony Car market and the Camaro and Firebird were riding on a good, but aging platform. Plus without the Mustang II, where would all of those 80s era hotrodders have gotten the front suspensions for their cars? LOL
  4. I hope the church hires a reputable appraiser and auctioneer and doesn't just throw them out like my mom used to do!
  5. I almost bought one of these on eBay a while back thinking it was 1/25th. Glad now I backed out.
  6. I messed up a Duplicolor and also a Testor's base in the same day. The Sharpie bonded with the paint and nothing would touch it. I'm gonna start searching for a water base fine tip or something.
  7. Thanks, it just struck me as odd for some reason.
  8. Here are some from me. http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o767/garyb11/modelpic21_zps10bac3fd.jpg http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o767/garyb11/modelpic5_zpsd5e2b605.jpg]
  9. I have a couple of these Herbies that I got way back when. I finally opened one of them and was struck by how big it looks. Is it 1/24th scale or could it be a bit larger? It just seems big compared to one of the old Revell V/Ws. Anyone know?
  10. I have a book about Chris Craft that of course I can't find right now. I can't find the exact cockpit layout that the kit represents, but I found a couple of other styles. Though by that time they were more or less production line built, you could order a custom layout and also specify if you wanted a bright (varnished mahogany) or painted hull. They had started to produce more of the open cockpit layouts by that time, so you could build one like the kit and another with the open style. Also this kit looks very nice covered in thin mahogany veneer and varnish.
  11. I love that 87 Ford. Where did you find the stock hubcaps? Did they come with the original kit?
  12. You did a great job on this. I love it!
  13. I guess my hands aren't as steady as they were a couple of years ago. I used to use pen point Sharpies to outline certain features and never had a problem. I tried it last weekend and messed up to fairly decent paint jobs. Does any one know of a water based alternative or at least one that can be wiped off if (when) I mess up?
  14. I never built it but I had a friend who did and said there were a few issues but that it was pretty nice. He compared it to AMT.
  15. When I was a little kid, getting a new model required a two hour lecture on how money didn't grow on trees, so there was a hierarchy in my model shopping. It went, MPC as my first choice, then AMT, then Revell. The next tier was Aurora, Lindberg and Palmer. They were at the bottom of my personal list and I would only get one of them if I had to. Speaking of Palmer, I wonder who ended up with their molds?
  16. I was there a few months ago. It is a blast. One of the few old time hobby shops still around.
  17. I had one of these a few years ago and the instructions had details and drawings on how to modify it into a sedan version.
  18. I would go with the Buick as it is a simpler build, yet really looks good. If you want a Roadrunner as well, you might see if you can find Monogram's 70(?) Roadrunner. I seem to remember it being on a par with the Buick in build quality.
  19. Maybe they can package it with the Mercury Woodie or something as a combo kit. That would be interesting.
  20. It was a supermini off shoot of the Fiat 128. I remember seeing one of these in Naples. It had dad, mom, three kids and grandma in it and it had a giant roof rack on top overflowing with all their vacation stuff, waiting for the ferry to Capri.
  21. For the clear coat, it could have been humidity. I used some Testors Wet Look Clear Gloss a while back. I had used this same can before and it worked fine. This time, I sprayed two bodies and they both came out dull. One of them I resprayed the next day and it came out okay. The other I polished out.
  22. I'm going to have to start saving my pennies. The Cyclone was a much better looking car than the Torino, IMO.
  23. Looking forward to these. A couple questions if I may; are the Fujimi/Aoshima/Tamiya tires sold separately by anyone or do you have buy a whole tire and wheel combo? Also, any idea if Revell's tuner tires might fit?
  24. Cool, I've been looking or something like this!
