That is a beautiful Nova , @MarcoTJ! I truly enjoy the choice of colours ; perfect for the era of that car . Flawless construction -- I hope to see more of your built kits !

Favorite Online Model Store?
1972coronet replied to chasracer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My first go-to is an independent 'brick & mortar' store in Burbank , California Burbank's House of Hobbies . Their service-- online and in-store-- is the absolute BEST ; a great store to visit in-person , too . I always shop small businesses first . If they don't have what I'm looking for ( i.e. , out-of-production kits , or certain supplies ) then I'll go to eBay or Model Roundup . -
Needing some brainstorming help

The bag of ducts which @Exotics_Builder exhibited look great ! Here's the site ; lots of cool stuff ! : Detail-Up Parts (modelfactoryhiro.com) Thanks @StevenGuthmiller for posting pics of that fantastic '68 W30 ducting which you've scratch-built ! -
Needing some brainstorming help
1972coronet replied to Venom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You'd ostensibly need something made-of flexible materials... The only kit-based cooling ducts I can think of that may be close would be the ones in the 1966 Olds 4-4-2 ( AMT ) or the ones in the 1966 [?] Galaxie (AMT) , which was recently reissued as the Jolly Green Gasser . I know that @StevenGuthmillercustom made the air cleaner ducts for his (outstanding) 1968 Olds 4-4-2 ; perhaps he'd be the guy to best answer this . -
Great work on "Double Bubble" and Gypsy Rose ! Nailed the look of those tow gems perfectly !

Seems like a close-match for Chrysler's FF4 : The 1970 Hamtramck Registry - 1970 Paint Chip Charts Slideshow (hamtramck-historical.com) -
The L-79 was such a killer ! Look that the success which 'Grumpy' Jenkins had with his A/Stock '66 L-79 -- beat the snot out of bigger-displacement cars in the Stock class . Have fun with your new build , @ModelcarJR! I have at least one of the Jenkins' kit in my stash . I'm thinking of a mini-diorama of the 1963 Nova Wagon with the engine stand / short block from the '66 Nova ( since the '63 has a detailed engine compartment , but is sans radiator and the such -- got my work cutout for me there ! ) . Those wheels in the c.2004 Rides edition resemble Motor Wheels Spyders... not bad looking .

His marques are splendid ! That's a big hunk of a cat ! @youpey , what's his name ? How old ?

1970-72 Toyota Celica 1600 GT by Hasegawa
1972coronet replied to Spottedlaurel's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm digging on that Celica quite a bit ; I especially like its paint colour -- reminds me of Chrysler's GB2 Glacial Blue ( Plymouth ) / Light Blue Metallic ( Dodge ) . There used to be a lot of those Celica's of that era / design around here in the U.S. in the 70's - 80's , being especially popular during the gas shortages of 10/1973 - 03/1974 and 1979-1980 . Too bad about that front panel ; disappointing (on their end) , truly . Perhaps --room permitting-- you can reinforce it with a length of uncoiled paper clip and epoxy ? Keep up the great work ! Cheers ! -
Handsome young man you've got ❤️! It's amazing how well our feline superiors tend to get-on in spite of any disabilities (obvious impairments or not) ; it's their defence mechanism . My beloved Molly Anne ( 17.05.2002 - 11.08.2019 ) was blind since she was 6 months of age ; she could only discern dark-and-light . She got around perfectly after about 5 months of recovery (which I helped her with : "Use your whiskers , super girl !" as I lifted her on-and-off the couch) . I wish for you many happy years of companionship with Shammy !

1/25 Revell SnapTite Taxi/Fire Chief Chevy Caprice
1972coronet replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I've got one of those in the stash . It's a great kit , in spite of --as you've stated-- some of its necessary compromises ( spotlight improperly-placed , for an instance ) . Eventually , mine's going to be built as a retired police car ; LASO in particular . Was this --or its 9C1 iteration-- ever reissued ? IIRC , it was last seen 'new' in c.1994 .- 32 replies

I'm digging it , man ! Its desert base along with the kit reminds me of my 4th birthday cake (1974) . Very cool ! IIRC , that Baja Humbug started its life as a Palmer 1963 "Precision" kit of a stock V.W.

Ah ! That makes perfect sense ! Thanks much , my man !

Esoteric inquiry here ; does anyone know what the 'CA' translated to in that old COX phone prefix ? I'm guessing it was 'CApitol' ( '32' ) ... Also note the last-four-digits : '3300' , just like the address ! Coincidence ?

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
1972coronet replied to mrmike's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent colour choices , @mrmike! I especially like the Big Bad Blue paint -- absolutely perfect . The modified roll cage is spot-on , too... reminds me quite a bit of a friend's CJ-8 and its roll bar ( his Jeep had a Chevy 383 with a very-hard-shifting 700-R4 ) . Beautiful work ! -
Thanks much ! I love how that patch becomes a heart-shape when he tucks-in his left arm .

1/25 AMT '64 Olds Cutlass 442 Hardtop
1972coronet replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thistle be great ! Certainly I'm not alone in wondering if : - Update the transmission to a 4-speed ( all 1964 4-4-2's were 4-speeds ) - Include clear headlamps to affix-atop the moulded-on lamps ( instead of modifying the stock grille ) I've got the F-85 / Cutlass drop-top on order ---- a companion hardtop in 4-4-2 livery will be nice . -
Of all of his 'regular' offerings during the 1965-1972 era , the two which most impressed me were the 1971 Demon 340 Six Pack and the 1972 Demon 340 with the Paxton blower .

Nice 'Bee ! It looks like it wants to lurch-forward ; completely restless sitting in that driveway . Did Norm's shop 'Super Tune' that bad boy ?

What can I possibly state here to possibly and properly convey how much I LOVE this awesome build ? I feel that , perhaps , a simple , understated "love" and "awesome" are somehow sufficient for this purpose . That water bottle ! WOW ! I can just imagine its driver chugging on it after a mind-bending rowing-of-gears on the interstate ! Keep them coming , @Steve H! What's next ? Dare I suggest a 1960 Ranchero based-upon the AMT '60 Starliner ?
