Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
Tom Geiger replied to mrmike's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Lookin' good! I especially like the new and improved roll bar! -
Absolutely... when I built my Dodge Ramcharger, and brought it to a club meeting, immediately a rivet counter told me that year Ramcharger didn't have a black grille... I responded firmly, "If it was my truck it would!" And that's my take on models. I will modify them to my liking, just like I would if I owned the 1:1!

??? Not even the tip of the iceberg! One of my favorites was a post showing a painted body that looked like a third grader had finger painted it.. poster was screaming victim! Paint company should be burned to the ground and everyone who worked there executed kind of post! It was actually confounding how someone got such a miserable paint job.. people tried to help.. what primer? What paint? Airbrushed or spray can? Some 20 posts down it comes out that the dude brush painted metallic paint directly over bare colored plastic! Of course he expected a concourse paint job! When people tried to council the guy as to what to do, it was sudden all his wife’s fault because she wouldn’t let him paint in their apartment! Man!

Very cool build! That little bug is a lot of fun!

It looks great! Forget factory perfect, do it your way because it’s your model!

Thanks Rob! I’ve also fitted those 64 chassis under my Johans and it’s a good fit. I have a dozen of them, I got a deal on a case for a lifetime supply of slant sixes!

Today I did something I’d been planning for a long time but never got to... I went to a glass shop and ordered glass for two of my display cases. I will be adding a shelf between each existing shelf, to double my capacity!

Agreed! There are kits I’m building that just don’t have accessories.. like the International Scout has absolutely nothing under the hood! And models like the AMT 57 Ford has no master cylinder! I’m also constantly making things like sun visors and mirrors too. A few years back I was at a show where a dealer had gallon zip lock bags stuffed like pillows with odd parts, mostly used, but clearly reusable! He wanted $3 for a bag, I counted 5 bags and bought them all! So my two 50 drawer units are full of small parts.. I will never want for a fan or valve cover again! It would be nice if there was a caster just concentrating on those odd bits. I’d certainly stock up!

American Pickers

Yea, I finally deleted all the Graveyard Cars off my DVR. Enough speeches with stock numbers and way too much detail for the average Joe. I recently started taping Flipping Bangers, a British show about repairing and reselling cheap cars. I’m just enjoying seeing odd cars I’m not familiar with up close. -
Very nice! It’s great to have old family cars come back to life! I need to do a few myself!

The Covid vaccine has been quite elusive in Pennsylvania. We lucked into learning about a new distribution site before the herd and got appointments for my wife and I. So we went today and received shot one and our appointment for shot two! Big relief! The downside? It was a 2.5 hr ride each way! It was a nice day for a ride in the country!

Cool project, I will be watching! I have a kit that has most of the trim sanded off that I am thinking of using the Lindberg 64 Dodge chassis and drivetrain under.

Hey even Bitchin Rides is scripted.. there was one episode where the car owner didn’t get excited at the reveal so they retook it a few times! And we saw all the takes until they got a little “Wow!” out of him! -
My 2006 LaCrosse had 22,000 miles on it when we purchased it in 2014. Had a Interstate battery in it, that’s the one that just failed, that’s 7 years and 60,000 miles later. Can’t complain ! I need a battery for my PT Cruiser, which is a smaller battery that is squeezed up in the front left corner. Where most batteries today have 3 year warranties, the only one Walmart sells for it is a ONE year warranty. I never even heard of a one year battery before!

What Say You?

Forget the Challenger, but there actually is a conversion kit for your late model Charger... This doesn't look all that bad! -
American Pickers

Yup, when they knock on a door and the person looks surprised, note that they’ve already signed a contract! Still, the characters are good likable folks and it’s fun to see the collections of “stuff” out there.. as in “See honey, my collection is nowhere as bad as that!” -

Great truck! I’ve been anxious to see that Foose chassis under other trucks! I put mine under a Datsun pickup -

Ya know... I knew there was something about it but just couldn’t put my finger on it!
