Per drug commercials.. competition for customers is fierce and there are always competing products for the same ailment. All pharmaceutical companies have a sales force that goes out to “educate” doctors as to why theirs is the one. And the TV commercials is the next level deep. People get more involved in picking their meds today because of it. Doctor can have you on a Tier 1 generic that’s either free or $5-10 depending on your plan and where you shop. Or they’re on a Merck product that they are paying dearly for. People will see the commercials for a new Pfizer drug for same issue and will ask doctor about it. In my experience doctor’s go along with patients requests as long as they don’t see it as harmful to that patient, even if they want to pay more. Ive had doctors try to put me on a name brand drug that would’ve cost me $100 a month. I pushed back and demanded a generic. He went with it but watched my tests for any adverse affects. As far as the ridiculous warnings on commercials.. that’s the government at work. Every drug will affect somebody adversely.

68 Charger rear-engined late Hemi Pro-Touring Concept
Tom Geiger replied to Claude Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
Yes! With their girlfriends cursing them! ? Once someone asked why Chuck smacked himself on the door.. a friend of ours said, “Because he deserves it for putting the doors on that poor PT!” -
Very nice. That green is very period!

Super work! At least those doors are on a model! A buddy of mine did a lot of tacky JC Whitney type upgrades on his PT Cruiser.. one of them was scissor doors. He had to be very careful exiting the car, otherwise he could get clocked in the head with the door! -

Kits they never issued- but should have
Tom Geiger replied to Paul Payne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
While these are very interesting views to read, I’ve always seen these threads as “How to bankrupt a model company” exercises. But no matter how much we think we know or how much of an insider we believe we are, interesting things happen! And I like to be surprised. Luc ran a project for us to create a kit proposal for a new kit with a $100,000 budget. I won one year with a proposal for a 1/24 VW split window.. yea, it’s never been done! -

Huge losses to the modeling community
Tom Geiger replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I believe he was 58 or 59 and he died of cancer. I didn’t know he was ill, but we’ve all lost contact this past year. Worth mentioning he won Best in Show at GSL and was to be on the judging jury next year. -
I think I know where some of them went! Back in 1969-72 I lived on a US Army post in Germany. We lived in a four family house and the local head of the American Red Cross lived upstairs from us. All their staff cars were 66 or 67 medium blue Chevelle 4 door sedans. I doubt any survived because American forces destroyed obsolete vehicles because they couldn’t go on the local market.

What did you see on the road today?
Tom Geiger replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wandering a country road on my way to take an old TV to the recycling center. I came across this neat old Willys wagon. It was the roadside attention getter for an antique shop. It had a tag on it marked “Not For Sale”, so you k ow it’s a constant question! -
Great work! Thanks for sharing them with us! Taking them out of storage is like finding old friends’

I see the ads on this board on my phone. Lotsa girly ads, clothing, bras etc. No doubt their algorithm picks up on “model”. The TV commercial that gets my goat.. it’s for a mail order pharmacy.. “I order my birth control from my couch!” With a couple of less than attractive women that you’d figure wouldn’t need birth control!

Ok guys, we have ruined Gluebomber’s thread by taking it down a wrong path! Apologies to OP. I only showed the diecast because others mentioned having a diecast kit of same, and the photo was handy since I just got it!

NJ postal operations has been especially hard hit by Covid. I have a relative who works at one of the six sort centers here and he said a lot of folks have been out. Some got Covid and he knows a few who died. He has been out on two different 14 day quarantine periods in 2020. They are very shorthanded and there is OT offered but nobody working it as they all come in for their shifts but want to limit their overall exposure. I mailed a package from Phillie burbs last Thursday to Berkeley Heights NJ and forecast to be delivered by Tuesday. It arrived on Saturday so some things are getting through. The other package I mailed at same time to Pittsburgh area got there today.
