It’s about the scaling and such that doll house folks accept. Like you, I was curious enough to spend a few dollars. I thought I’d do the review so others wouldn’t have to go through the trouble!

Regarding the coil... take a piece of the hollow wire you use for boots.. stick it over the nub sticking upward on the coil. Put your wire inside that.

Remember the good old days ??????????

Yes, a six and the gas lasted all evening as we drove around aimlessly! -
What made me smile..I was at my daughter’s house and decided to weed their front garden. I suddenly hear, “Papa!” I look up and there are my 2 year old twin granddaughters. One says, “Papa has a hat!” And they both disappear, only to return minute later both wearing hats, smiling and waving! Enough to melt your soul. ❤️

Pre-wired distributor
Tom Geiger replied to bluestringer's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I wire all my engines. People will tell you that you need 9 hole distributors and need to wire in exact wire order.. Um no! A few tips from my reality. A lot of distributors are positioned in a way that you cannot view the wire order. So why go nutz with wire order? Some prewired distributors sit taller than the kit ones you have replaced and once in place with wires, won’t allow for other components such as an air cleaner to sit right. Just suggesting that you look at all aspects as you decided what to do. I’ve done the Max detail to have it hidden under an air cleaner, when a single hole distributor would do, as well as wired engines where the wires were barely visible.. think Chevy small block. -

I was at Hobby Lobby today and found a whole series of diorama / doll house kits. I believe these have been mentioned before. There were a bunch of them including storefronts of a book store and ice cream shop. What caught my attention is they said 1/24 scale. Heres a close up. This scene looks great, and a super source for widgets for our own dioramas! I was cautious and bought the cheapest one to check out. I was hoping to get the couch, bookcase hutch and table to use as a pickup load.. I’ve wanted to do one as a low budget move or flea market vendor truck. Considering that this manufacturer had a whole selection of 1/12 scale fully finished furniture, I was surprised at the contents of my box! Pretty much a “scratch build a diorama”! Like an old Berkeley wood car kit! The above photo is the hutch unit. More unfinished panels.. Most of the detail is glue down glossy paper. Here’s the couch and the window... Directions on how to build a couch. Instructions are well done and illustrated in color. But there’s a lot of effort. You have to stuff and upholster the thing. They want you to cut out and sew pillows. Bag of materials.. see the couch fabric and stuffing. Other side of bag. All the doo dads in the diorama? You get materials to scratch build it all. All in all, they give you quite a lot of materials for ten bucks. There is even a light kit with battery box. A lot of work to build the darn thing. I can only imagine what’s in their $50-70 ones! I don’t know what I’m gonna do just yet. For the $10 invested I may play with the hutch and couch. Or find something nifty to use the light kit on.. you’d pay $10 for one for your diorama. And they even gave you a tasty snack to eat while building it! ?

And put some tape to either side of the groove. When you go off track, the tape gets gauged, not the body! -

Sorry to hear! I found out my job was over on the morning radio news. It was announced that the US government cancelled the alternative fuels project we were working on. All four of us in the carpool gasped! And yes we all lost our jobs!

Tamiya Paint over Rustoleum 2X Primer
Tom Geiger replied to Chevy II's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yea, but I can understand it from a business stand point. They can do small runs of hobby paint with limited sales outlets or run the big cans of spray paints 24/7 that they can put in every Walmart, Lowe’s, Target, Home Depot etc across the country! Sad for hobbies but a fact of life. -

I remember my two buddies and I chipping in a dollar each to buy enough gas to cruise the 62 Chevy II for the evening! -

I’ve been looking at that. I found some photos of a Landie long wheel base Ute that looks like it would work with the Revell kit. -

He he he... just ask me about my stamp collection! When people here are astounded by what they paid for a kit, I wanna say, “Hey! Hold my beer!”

Here ya go.. I have one of these. Cannot comment on scale as I really haven’t looked at it with a critical eye. I do need a front bumper.. or at least the right end of one!

I have one of those. I did some minor customizing on the body but enjoyed concentrating on detail painting and not spending a load of time detailing out an engine and chassis!

Modeling vs. reality
Tom Geiger replied to El Roberto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was thinking of this thread while watching Bad Chad last night... impractical! Hard to climb in and out, zero interior space. Hood and trunk don’t even open. Engine is behind seats, as he lowered body on it he said he hoped it would run well since there was no way to adjust anything with the body on.. it did drive into a building under its own power but can only wonder how it would be on the road! -
Modeling vs. reality

And like to build my models so they’d work in real life. When I win the lottery I plan on having a few of my models built for me! ?
