    2018 Builds

Agree with others here; that's a very tasteful 2-tone on the Merc.
  3. Just curious, is the AMT '69 an AMT tool (originally), or was it one of the MPC tools they acquired? I ask because it seems from what I've read over the years that MPC was notorious for the 1/26 or 1/27 scaling of their 1/25 cars! The differences in AMT vs. Revell bodies got me wondering about that...

  5. This will be a gorgeous display piece; can't wait to see the big reveal!
  6. Really interesting to see a comparison like this; BIG thanks for posting!
  7. Real 50s cool vibe here! Great color scheme.
  8. Great pictures, and thanks for taking the time to do those extra detail shots! The more I see, the more I know I gottahavit! Rear seat back looks a bit "angular", but that's a quibble I have with most Revell kits, and can be much improved with sandpaper and files. GOTTAHAVIT!!
  9. Did anyone else just slide/toss their amt 69s off the workbench; either actually or symbolically? Seriously, this is looking really nice. If there are quibbles, they appear to be small. Can we get a better shot of the dash and seat upholstery? Pretty please?!
  10. Dang! Just a few years ago, one of those was sitting in the weeds just off the highway not twenty miles from me. I stopped to look it over, but could never find anyone at home at the nearest house, whom I assumed were the owners. (Their driveway also ran just past the car) It was a beauty of a fixer-upper, and SO worth saving; a sort of pale gold color with pale gold and black interior. One day, it was just GONE... I'll be watching this build with much interest of the proverbial "one that got away"!
  11. Lookin' good so far! Chrome work will really accent that blue.
  12. I was really digging the Caddy front end before streamlining. Now I'm a little sad...
  13. Really beautiful car and model!
  14. Now that's OLD school! Will be an interesting build, for sure; should be plenty of opportunities for super-detailing at that scale!
  15. My only quibble so far is there seems to be a bit of arch in the C-pillars as seen in side view, where the 'bird's were pretty straight, I think. It could just be photo distortion, too.
  16. Well executed!
  17. That red is perfect!
  18. Very cool build!
  19. Clean building technique + TASTEFUL color scheme = IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY! Got details on those particular red and green colors?
  20. Good work! Looks well used, and I really like the detailing on the R2 unit. I can't understand why model companies are so slack in their standards for figures. (Tamiya and DML military excused) Otherwise exactly detailed kits are dragged down by bad-toylike, substandard figures! Most all the major kit makers were/are guilty of it. ( Revell 58 T-bird w. "Elvira", AMT Tie Fighter w. ""melting-Vader-on-the-toilet", the list goes on...
  21. That's really getting the look! Take your time, get it right, and you won't be able to cast them fast enough! Good work.
  22. Cannot wait to see that color on the car!
  23. One of the most realistic finishes I've seen in awhile; absolutely love that side view!. Trunk lines bother me, the real ones never fit that perfectly!
  24. My thanks as well! Lots of cool tips to digest here, especially regarding the mock-up stage, setting stance, etc. Very thoughtful of you to share; I know it takes time!
  25. Agree that many try to make "Faux Caminos", but few do it well. This is as nice as as they come; very believable and rather handsome! I would love to have seen a black interior and black vinyl on this! Do another one!
