  1. Yes, I've got to find one of those JoHans. Your '63 is just blowing me away; there's no viewing angle I don't like. That rear view has such wonderful lines. Those designers liked their job!
  2. Wow, that '63 is one handsome ride. Now I have Olds envy! Mine has some typical lower body rust, but nothing catastrophic, worst is the left rear skeg, and that's an easy shape to deal with as far as making a patch panel. Interior, faded but complete and still sits well. LOVE those Olds dashes and steering wheels, and the over all design of the upholstery work. I will keep the interior close to these stock colors when I get around to it..
  3. Two ENTIRELY different animals. The AMT 66 kits, both hardtop and convertible are just gorgeous. They are from AMT's 1990s renaissance period, and should be in every model builder's stash, especially the Olds fans! Go get one right now, I'll wait here...
  4. I see a big part of the problem there: the "roll" at he front of the hood is too far back from the front edge, and this is what makes the front look too tall. The angled planes at the front of the hood are rendered longer (not really taller) because they extend back too far. This can be fixed with putty and files, I think. Thanks for the excellent comparison pics; this is great reference material. I have a couple of these myself, and am a big fan of the body style. Tweaking the bumper/ grille assembly upwards a millimeter or so couldn't hurt, as well as refining the bumper ends, which are goofy.
  5. That's a beauty, especially that blue interior! This one scores extra points with me for being an early 60s Olds 88. I recently picked up an actual 1961 88 4-door hardtop as a long term project; maybe this winter or next summer. No engine or tranny, so definitely going to be a resto-mod kind of project.
  6. Nice looking 'bird! Looks great in red with white interior.
  7. ⁉️
  8. Very nice. I like the finishes. That has what I'd call scale gloss; not too syrupy, thick, and overly shiny. Just right! "Laguna" color is nice for an old rod. You should also check out "Caribbean" from the same maker; similar color but lighter, and maybe just a little more toward the green tint. Great for 2-toning Tri-5s and old rods!
  9. Very cool! What a beautiful piece of box art.
  10. Really cool to see this built not as a rally car. Beautiful lines, and I like them much more now than I did then. Excellent finish on your build, and nice and clean, too. Well done.
  11. Phil, thanks so much for that reminder and link
  12. Ha! I like 'em, too, but I just don't know enough about them to make any helpful comment. I guess I'll feel my way along when i do build one. I would love to see some more kits from this era in racing.
  13. Nice! Loving your colors and the subtle sleeper approach.
  14. Very well done. You got a realistic appearance, and it's not heavy-handed, as these can tend toward. It deserves a rusty/oily/dusty engine!
  15. Nice one! Thanks for posting this.
  16. Small update: after a simple request process, received email today that Rouind2 is sending me replacement hoods for my defective parts. Thanks Steve and Doug from Round2!
  17. Looking good! Heck, I was digging the black and camo tan look!
  18. That came out very nice; really changes the flavor of the ol' kit!
  19. Had a good experience trading a couple kits with BIGTRUCK. Scored a couple of diecasts to gift a cousin that's getting interested in collecting and remodeling diecast cars. Thanks again, Ken!
  20. Pretty clean Camaro, and looks very nice in that blue.
  21. That's just SHARP!
  22. That is an excellent video for anyone looking to shoot better pics; you''ll learn more in 15 minutes there than in an hour reading about it.
  23. I think these are made by Aoshima. (Nope: Imai!)
