  1. It may have challenged you, but you can't tell it from the finished product! Nice job.
  2. Very nice looking model. Love the concept, loving the unusual color. Very cool!
  3. Great choices made for a period-perfect rod. Nicely done.
  4. Very good work!
  5. Great family portrait!
  6. Nice, slick, red = already a race car!
  7. Very nice color; really changes the "feel" of the car!
  8. Great looking body style, it will look nice in that blue. I did a '64 in a similar dark blue, and was very happy with how it looked. Good lines can wear just about any color well.
  9. Common NASCAR kit wheel, paint with Molotow or similar.
  10. Not sure how far along you are as far as calling this one ready to print, but if I may count rivets, there are 4 things bugging me: ( and you may already be aware; they don't call you Mr.Obsessive for nothing!). First, the length of the front fender in front of the wheel opening - too long, should taper/curve more abruptly. Others noted in pic:
  11. That's kinda cool!
  12. Looking good so far! I had your same idea about converting a '70, then I actually scored a deal on a '69 AMT body! So a little cut and paste from the Buick and I'm this far along...
  13. Would LOVE to see your '69 Impala print.
  14. Remember that some kits even had a "Street is Neat" plastic badge you could paint and pin to your shirt or hat!
  15. I'm a sucker for mags on old hot rods, but you do your thing! All three are fine choices, depending on the style you want.
  16. So much fun! Those scarabs would make for some groovy taillight surrounds, just some red styrene in the opening and done!
  17. The '61 Sunliner alone is cool enough to be worth more than you gave for all. Congrats on a good score!
  18. Very nice build; one to be proud of. Love that color!
  19. Gorgeous! These mid-fifties Fords just seem to wear yellow better than most. My dad owned a yellow/white '58 Ford way back, and I thought it was beautiful. This reminds me of that, and proves I was right! Excellent build.
  20. It was fun following this one, and the end result is simply stunning. What a great looking model and car. I gotta find a bucket of that color!
  21. Love that color. Good build. These are actually very well done kits; we need to see more built.
  22. Very eye-catching color for a street rod! Well done.
  23. Very sharp treatment of this old kit!
  24. I don't see any need for a single aftermarket part for the project you describe; everything you need is available in kits. Don't worry about using the AMT '68 body, it can be made to look very good. How important are chassis details to you? The '68 is workable, but finding a Revell '69 chassis is simple. They are newer tooled parts, accurately detailed, and are plentiful. It fits the AMT body with just a little work. Big block engines are everywhere: Revell Camaros, Chevelles from AMT, Revell (stock and pro-street versions), AMT '70 Monte Carlo, AMT and Revell Corvettes, and on and on... Much depends on a specific plan.
  25. You have a nice stance already! This kit has a notoriously ill-fitting hood, so take your time fitting it. The chrome strip on the sides (especially the sides of the hood) is somewhat soft and indistinct. You may want to file it away and replace with a strip of half-round, or, since it's a drag car, file it off and leave the body "shaved" of superfluous trim. Let the paint job show off the body. It's an old kit, but still seems to be one of those perennial favorites that charms us model car guys; it's still one of my favorites in spite of minor shortcomings. Looking forward to seeing how you handle this one.
