  1. Oh yeah... Unfortunately it's looking like there won't be any model shows held anywhere for the foreseeable future. Add to that the fact that we won't have any of our car model magazines showing up in our mailboxes is even more depressing?. Most of us still have our stockpiles of kits and supplies to carry us through these bleak and troubled times. I know that I have a lot of subjects to choose from, several stalled, started projects to be worked on, and plenty of ideas and internet inspirations to keep the creative juices flowing. When shows start opening up again I know that I'll have quite a few newly completed cars to choose from to enter and/or display. Please all stay healthy and well. Follow all the sensible rules for mask wearing, social distancing, etc. so that we all will be able to look back on these times and say that we made it safely through the storm.

  7. Hello everyone. This is the first model that I've finished since I had my heart surgery back in February. It is a curbside build, done up as a mild Custom. The color is HOK Tangelo Orange Pearl with pinstripe and flame decals from my parts stash. The hood and trunk were smoothed and the door handles were removed. I also modified the side trim on the rear quarters. The headlights were frenched into the fenders and PE half-moon headlight shields were added. I changed the grille to one from my parts box with more "teeth". I sanded pieces of clear red plastic to fit into the recesses for the taillight housings, to represent frenched taillights. The hubcaps also came from my parts box, as did the spotlights, mirror and antenna, Thanks for looking in on this and I apologize for the quality of the pictures. Any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated, as always. Please all stay well and safe in these tough times. I'm now moving on to my next "unique" creation.

  11. I've been getting it since the early 90's when Gary Schmidt owned it... It feels like I'll be losing an "old friend"... I'd already been feeling that way since the MCM troubles started and then kept getting worse... No local shows, no NNL East, no magazines... What's next...???
  12. Wowsers...!!!!!! If there was EVER a time for Model Cars Magazine to make its comeback......NOW WOULD BE THE TIME......!!!!!! For too long SA has been the only game in town for us. While I wasn't always thrilled, or overly interested in a lot of the articles and/or features in SA, at least it was something to look forward to getting in the mailbox every other month... With all of the shows and contests throughout the country being cancelled due to the Corona Virus epidemic, now we only have our workbenches, hobby rooms and fellow modelers to see us through these tough times... We've seen meager times in this hobby before and always managed to come through it. I'm sure we'll make it happen again. Note to Gregg: If there is any glimmer of hope... any infinitesimal chance of getting Model Cars Magazine up and running again...... You have my vote and support. Hopefully you can make it happen.

  20. Thank you Tom and David... Today I polished out the wet look clearcoat and then applied some pinstripe and flame decals. Next I'll be doing the BMF work. The car is being made as a curbside, mild Custom and so far is coming out the way I envisioned it. I'll post some in-progress pics soon.
  21. I finally got back to working on a model....!!! I shot some wet look clear over a Tangelo Pearl '53 Chevy curbside body this morning. I figured doing a "quick and easy" curbside would get me back into things...... "Quick and easy" has been taking 3 weeks so far with all the "minor" sanding and changes I've been doing... At least I'm working on something...... finally......
