  1. To push the nitpicking further, the earth spins on it's axis, orbits the sun, etc., If you went back in time, what if the earth was at a different point in it's rotation, or the earth was in a different spot in it's orbit? Would you end up in the middle of the ocean? In deep space? It is almost unthinkable that you would end up in the same spot with all the movement going on.
  2. I don't know if you can see in these pictures but: See how the top of the front fender doesn't really start sloping down until it's halfway toward the front? The AMT body starts sloping almost right away (top pic). The MPC is much closer to the real car. To me, this makes the MPC look more Mustang-y. If you have both, compare them. This fender shape also affects the hood, to a degree. Again, I like the MPC body, but the AMT front end, back end and hood. The lower chine also looks better on the MPC.
  3. This is definitely a modified reissue of the MPC kit. I see the hood vents are still there. Oh well.
  4. The '71 and '72s have the best front ends (so far). The '73 front end isn't perfect but better than MPC. The JoHan has a nice flat hood that fits the MPC body great (you have to cut it from the body, though). The Macho and Street machine do not have stock front seats, but none of the interiors are outstanding, anyway. By the way, the AMT interior has the fold down rear seat, the MPC has the standard rear seat and package shelf, so you can make either interior. The retooled MPC front end (the 007 car) I haven't seen yet, and the coming Revell is also unknown at this point. I'm glad Round 2 has retooled the 007 Mustang front end, but we can also only hope they got rid of the incorrect hood vents below the windshield. The AMT hood has more accurate scoops anyway, plus no hood vents.
  5. As for me, I think the MPC body looks good, the AMT hood is better, and AMT did the front and rear ends better. If you mix and match, you get a really decent Mustang body. Even if the Revell kit is off body-wise, there is no doubt every other part will be vastly superior to MPC or AMT. As an aside, I heard Round 2 retooled the MPC (supposed to be a '73) front end to 1971 specs. Then they went and molded the kit in red.
  6. It's a 1974. If I ever finish it.
  7. I assume the big rigs are European models(?)
  8. I got a set of those, and the relief is so fine (after plating), I had to do all the black areas with decals. Ended up looking pretty good. Mine are for for a Scamp.
  9. Even less...I made mine a base Ventura.
  10. My Texaco build ended up being a shelf. Maybe someday...
  11. Trunk is same as on kit. It's not extended.
  12. I hope this helps
  13. What's maddening is when you try to buy parts or decals that are scaled for 1/24-1/25 cars...As if it's one scale.
  14. You're right, of course. My job is OK, I'm just ready to do what I want to do instead of what I have to do.
  15. Not yet, but I have it sitting where I have to see it every day. Sooner or later I'll dive back in and finish the master. There's not that much more to do. If only I were retired....
  16. In all seriousness, I'm curious as to whether that paint scheme was offered without the trim pieces. I suppose a person could paint their truck any way they wanted. A nice, neat job at any rate. Every 35 series truck I've seen is a dually.
  17. Yes, i made a new grille to fit this car. I cast about 10 front ends and grilles, but never thought about offering them as a kit. A caster friend of mine is doing the bumpers, I can't do 2-piece molds. The AMT chassis, surprisingly, only needs the chassis behind the rear wheel wells narrowed, and the rear wheel well shape finessed. The rest fits as is.
  18. After trying to build the new full-bumper Camaro kit, I realized I was never going to be happy with it. I decided to build an old MPC kit, update it with the new parts, and try again to make a 1973 Camaro.
  19. Neat idea and great execution! I'm more of a thin crust guy, though.
  20. Not to butt in, but that trim was present on the original issues.
  21. How will I be able to determine when these are ready for purchase? Is there a site I can check? I'd hate to miss out.
  22. I think I'll do the same. I can't think of a better way. Thanks!
  23. I'm converting the new AMT full-bumper Camaro to a 1973 car from my youth. It was a 350 2bbl, 4 speed car with added headers. I hope the pictures describe things well. More to come as I get things done. The front area below the front bumper does not fit well, and takes some work to get it installed. In my opinion, the front and rear areas MUST be attached to the body before paint. I'll figure out how to get the chassis in later.
  24. If you're going to do this kind of Nova, be warned: the AMT based version has a chopped top. Try to find the MPC based model. The Venturas, luckily, were MPC. Bad Nova, and everything based on it. Good Nova, and everything based on it.
