Great looking finishes on the body and the interior. -
Looks like pictures of the original car. Beautiful finishes everywhere you look. Like the Beer Tap shift leaver, remember when that was a must have item.

I'd be pretty proud if that was my paint work.

Pontiac G8

Great looking car and with the LS2 engine it would be a good performer. At that time GM was teasing us that they would bring a new Pontiac El Camino built on this same chassis, sold down under as a Ute. I was all ready to trade my '05 GTO, aka Monaro, for one when they pulled the plug on Pontiac. -
I was going to suggest something like what gman suggested. The textured finish on the foil makes a great reflector for a taillight lenses, the larger and flatter the better.

A thought if you're going with wide tires that will not fit inside the stock rear wheel wells. The kits front mounting point for the rear leaf springs are on the outboard side of the frame just like the real cars. First replicate the mounting point on the inside of the frame. Moving the front mounting point will create some clearance issues between the rear portion of the leaf spring and the kits exhaust. Minor rerouting of the exhaust pipes or even changing their exit point would not be hard to do. This would give you a little more rear tire clearance even without narrowing the rear differential or tubbing the rear wheel well. The last one I built I used the optional "California Wheels and Tires" from in of the '56 Chevy kits and everything cleared with zero modification, other than lowering the suspension.

Number 1= D. Number 2= B with the center slotted area painted to match the body color. Just one person's opinion, do as you wish.

Like the original look of this build. The paint colors and finish look like it's era. Clean original looking body trim and chrome. -
Great looking bright metallic paint and chrome trim. Jaguar sedans always look so sleek and beautiful.

Look at this way, you no longer have a scratched dashboard from the keys bouncing off the dash as you drive.

Great looking color combination and finish. This would be one powerful work truck. -
Like the "Dare to be different" power plant. Good idea for covering any bobos. Like the wheels and tires along with the stance.

Great looking paint color and finish. The hood scoop gives it a day 2 look. Like the steering detailing.

Great looking stock build, lots of attention to the fine details. The fender skirts and wide whites really give it an original look. Like the chrome piping on the seat covers and the dash trim.

I see what you are saying about the heater hoses and valve cover clearance in your model. Looking at the picture of your models firewall it does look like the heater box is mounted to close to the center of the firewall. Was the heater box molded to the firewall in this kit or did you have to mount it? I have not built this particular '66 Chevelle kit and it wasn't originally an AMT product. Lindberg was the company that did the molds and Round 2 has reissued it as an AMT product. I just now looked back in my stash at an original Lindberg '66 Chevelle and it shows that the heater box is to be mounted on the firewall, but further toward the passenger fender than this. You could see if you can remove and remount the heater box, or drill and mount heater hoses close to where they should be as long as it clears your valve cover on that side.

As you can see in your picture the big block does just fit. The driver's side valve cover on a factory car with the power brake option actually has a flat notch on the back side to clear the brake booster unit.

Like the Oldsmobile engine idea. In the earlier times the main thought was for cubic inches and horsepower with far less consideration for engine weight. The Olds provided plenty of torque especially in such a light body. Besides that, they look cool. -
Great looking build even for today. Might consider a little polishing instead of striping the paint. You could always do some chrome foil, but the silver paint looks good. I'm partial to the subject as well.
