First gen Firebird vs first gen Camaro ?
espo replied to Jack L's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Are thinking of applying 1:1 car dimensions to our hobby building a model? This would in most cases trip you up. Example, Revell '66 and '67 Chevelle kits. In 1:1 the parts in almost any case will interchange. In the modeling world you better plan on a lot of trial-and-error fittings before you commit to gluing anything together. This I have learned the hard way. -
Maybe the person or persons that didn't control their budget should be the ones giving up any bonuses or basic income since the problem was their creation in the first place. All too often it seems that the people responsible for the problem get to coast and the workers have to suffer.

The reason I was thinking of the '34 ford bed is that it has the general shape of the one in the old photo. From what I have seen from that era the pickup beds all look kind of generic anyway and maybe with a little work it would fit. I understand that in America this was sort of an aftermarket kit from an outside supplier so they may have offered the same bed for whatever car someone was converting. This sort of a setup was far more common in other countries and may have had a regular part number even. I have seen a few builders here who have done something along these lines, and it did look good.

I wonder if the bed from the '34 Ford pickup would work ?

1930 Model A Ford ice cream truck

Models done like this always seem special, and this one especially. The fact that your wife became so involved just adds that much more to this build. The kitchen area looks very realistic. -
You would never know that the body had been warped to look at it now. The paint looks great, and I like the details on the interior.

I agree with rickcaps55 on the roof. I was also going to suggest the '65 or '66 Impala roof although that may have been too wide. Something to consider is the shape of the body side moldings. The inspiration picture shows the '54 side moldings. While this is a matter of personnel choice the '54 moldings tend to make the body look longer to the eye than the '53 side moldings. Maybe try both layouts using fine line tape to see which one you like best. IO like how you're molding in the grill area.

What did you see on the road today?

Interesting how some cars make you remember events from the past. -
I like the cleaner look without the rear wing and the lack of wheel covers give it a brutal look. Great looking paint and color.

Beautiful looking paint job. A lot of masking there. ASll of the fine engine and chassis detailing looks like it's ready for thew Gasser Wars. The tinted plexiglass windows are a nice touch.
-
Beautiful looking paint and a very dark green it is. Like the stance and the wheels.
-
Beautiful representation. The owner should love having this.
-
Beautiful looking showroom worthy woody. I like how you used some of the decals for the side windows. I did one a few years ago in black and now after looking at this I want to build another one.
-
Beautiful looking paint and all the fine trim is so cleanly done. I like the LS swap, stans, and the wheels. All of these things complement the voluptuous body lines of the '60 Chevy.
-
Beautiful looking paint finish. Hard to believe this is the same body.
-
Nice looking interior and I like how the gauges look almost like they are lit up.

Great looking engine. What manifold did you use for the two fours ?

That is what I was wondering about. My cars were a standard 307 & pg '69 Camaro I bought from the original owner, and it still had the factory exhaust on it. A '77 Camaro LT 350/350 , and a '72 Nova SS 350 & 4-speed both bought new, and they all had just the cross muffler behind the differential.

Revell model kit depicts real life..

Get enough of these and you could make a diorama of the coast off southern California. -
Most of the 409's had a decal usually near the center of the silver painted valve covers, as opposed to the engine-colored valve covers of the 348 engines, that would state the engine displacement.

On the surface this sounds like an odd explanation. The reason I say this is they should be able to get a Bank Credit Line to buy or even lease amy type of manufacturing equipment. I know only the most basic and probably even misinformation about some of the government programs in place to assist companies that are wanting to invest in equipment. Either way I hope it all works out to your advantage and they restore your income and maybe even a bonus for hanging in there for them.

On the subject of the exhaust in some Camaro and Nova kits. These are excellent pictures that show what I'm curious about. The kits exhaust has two almost standard size mufflers leading into the single muffler behind the differential. I have owned a few 1:1 Camaros and even a Nova SS and none of those cars had this type of exhaust systems from the factory. To be clear the muffler behind the differential was present on each of these cars but the two mufflers before the differential were not. In later modifications the cross muffler was sometimes removed, and I had the muffler shop add a system much like the ones in front of the differential. I'm wondering if the prototype that the model companies used may have had a modified exhaust system and they didn't realize this.

Good point. thankyou.

The 327 with a 2 bbl. was the standard V8 at the start of production for the 1969 model year. At some point as a running change Chevrolet changed this to a 307 with a 2 bbl. as the standard engine. The advantage of the 307 was a little more torque at a lower RPM. This engine provided relatively good gas milage at the time. Around 1977 I bought a used one owner '69 Camaro with the 307 and PG as a base for something better later. At 90k miles it still didn't burn or even leak any oil from the engine or the transmission. The Air Cond. still would freeze you out of the car.

Great looking group of Mustangs. I like the high level of detailing and the paint finishes, including the weathered ones.
