  1. Beautiful looking Deuce and the colors look great together. I like the mesh grill you used.
  2. Beautiful looking little '32. All of the details are cleanly done and I like seeing a built flathead engine. The wide whites and the young lady help set the era.
  3. Beautiful and clean looking build. Just like everyone else I think one of the most outstanding features is the color.
  4. You mentioned that you thought the Air Cleaner was a little plain looking. If it fits your build consider chroming the air cleaner lid or even the whole thing.
  5. The color seems much darker after the clear coats. This may just be the lighting in the photos.

What do you have in mind for the windshield, tail and the head lights? Great looking color and the finish looks nice and smooth.
  7. I like the cleaner look of just the frame spreader bar without the bumper.
  8. At one time Good Year Racing tires were built with little or no information on the sidewalls. They would usually have information having to do with a production series, dates built, and rubber compounds used so that engineers could tell what batch or rubber and cord design was used in the making of the tires. The "GOODYEAR" name if on the tire at all would be stenciled and spray painted with an aerosol spray can. The paint would react with the rubber used on the sidewalls of the tires and what may have been a white or cream color when sprayed would change color.
  9. Beautiful looking paint and signage. The bed and the boom are really nicely detailed.
  10. I like the finishes. The interior color is a great contrast with the body color. I like the wood bed trim and the transparent roof treatment. Nice looking stance.
  11. In the picture it looks as if there may be enough room between the front of the engine and the radiator to move the engine forward a little for firewall clearance.
  12. Great looking body color. Very clean looking build.
  13. Well planned frame/wheel & tire/fender mods.
  14. I have been using the erasers that you can buy most anywhere that slips on the end of a pencil. They are rubber and have a squire portion toward the eraser end. This is the part that keeps your knife from rolling. I have found them in colors as well and I use them to tell my different knifes apart on the work bench.
  15. Leaving the body, or other parts for that matter, in the color of the plastic is not a bad idea if it's the color you want. A suggestion on any body prep or surface sanding that may be needed. Use the finest grit sand paper or sanding pad you can find. Follow that with some of the real fine polishing pastes and then a good wax finish. I have done this on a few in the past and the results have turned out real nice.
  16. The grill below the Dodge grill looks like the '57 Buick grill. This used to be a popular Kustom grill for a '57 Chevrolet.
  17. Welcome to the Forum. You will find several very accomplished distressed style builders here along with every other style you can amagine. In our area there is a show and swap meet put on by the Kansas City Slammers called the Heartland Model Car Nationals usually held in early June in Overland Park Ks. This is a must attend event. Maybe I'll see you there.
  18. The main thing is you're back. I like your build styles in the pictures and look forward to seeing more of them.
  19. When I mentioned Dieseling I was referring to what was also called "running on". What was happening was that the combustion chamber was so hot it would ignite any amount of fuel that may be in the combustion chamber, and this would keep the engine running in a sputtering fashion and the sound was often associated with that of a diesel engine and so that name as well. Yes, the ignition key could be removed, and this would trigger the condition in the engine where the ignition system no longer provided the spark too the spark plugs and the heat in the combustion chamber is what was causing the small amount of fuel present to ignite. The excessive engine heat was created by the retarded spark advance dictated by the California Air Research Board, called CARB as their acremen. This was also a required retro fit on many '60's era cars and trucks even if they had the factory California Emissions systems from the factory. My '69 Camaro and '66 El Camino required that the vacuum advance from the carb. to the distributer be removed and caps installed on both. They also required that the ignition timing be retarded to 0 or less as opposed to the factory setting that was in the 10 degrees or more advanced. This is what caused the excessive heat buildup in the combustion chamber. While the state thought this helped reduce emissions it also caused premature engine wear and even failure. I hope this better explains what I was trying to express.
  20. Well am I the only one with this problem or is Wells Fargo at it again ? We got a text from Wells Fargo, and it was the bank, that our new account was ready and we could reify our balances online. Problem is we don't bank with Wells Fargo in any way shape or form and do not have any credit cards with them. After going thru several different "managers" on the phone we got someone who said they would flag the accounts, yes plural, as possibly being fraudulent and gave us a case number.
  21. Great fabrication work on this body. I like the way you finish your paint and trim.
  22. Beautiful looking Suburban and I like the 4X4 conversion.
  23. Beautiful looking pair of '57 Fords. Great looking two tone colors and the trim looks perfect. I owned a '57 Convertible that was six years old when I bought it from the first owner and a few years later I bought a Mainline two door from the third owner.
  24. Looks great. The color combination was very popular when this car was produced. Something I noticed on the window trim. You mentioned having problems with the Matlow pen. Chevrolet had a problem with the black paint on the window side trim wearing thin and the polished aluminum trim underneath showing thru, much like your window moldings.
  25. Beautiful looking paint work and a very clean looking showroom build.
