40 Dodge pick-up
espo replied to Pat Minarick's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very realistic looking patina finish. I like the fender dents as well as the door and other body parts that show wear. From the duel exhaust stacks I think something a little more powerful than the flathead inline 6 is under the hood. -
Great looking stock VW. This little car got almost as much screen time as the Charger and the Mustang during the chase.
-
Great looking Elenore reproduction.
-
I like the fender flairs and the stance as well as the NASCAR chassis.

Outstanding realistic looking finishes. Looks like a War Surplus type Barn Find. -
Great looking build. Cleanly done and detailed throughout.
-
Great looking finish and all the trim is cleanly done. When you build a model and finish it to this level you can overlook the inaccuracy of the body shape and trim in the basic kit.
-
Beautiful looking paint and color. Nice to see one of these in something other than red.
-
Turned out great. The color and the vinyl roof trim and body side moldings really capture the era.

I used to work for Union Oil Company in '69 and early '70's. This was a time when Union was Taking over Pure Oil in the east. I worked at the distribution center in Colton Ca. and would help at Riverside and Onterio Raceways with the fuel. Union became the main fuel sponsor for the series as well as the pit crew activities. Don't know if that will help you with the time line of the sponsorship.

Great looking paint finish and the tail panel looks good.

Body is looking nice and smooth. I like how you used the Corvette style Bumpers.
-
Look forward to seeing your take on this '32.

That should look good. As I recall the standard grill and bumper were white and the chrome bumper and grill were an extra cost extra. Most work trucks were built in the base trim.

The next time this yahoo gets in the sauce and starts questioning the ownership of the leaves in his yard you might send him a link to Realtor.Com,.

Beautiful and sinister looking at the same time. The 1:1 could blow off a Corvette of that time, so you should treat this with the respect deserved. I like the natural looking engine colors.

Beautiful looking paint finish and the interior is a great contrast.

AMT 1968 Chevy Camaro Z28 in Nassau Blue Metallic.

Great looking Camaro. I have read others saying this is a misshaped body in this kit, but it doesn't look that way here at all. The paint and stripe decals look good and the trim is all cleanly done. I like the realistic way you did the unibodies undercarriage. -
The Candy Green color looked good, but I agree with everyone else on the Black color.

1990 Mustang LX - SVT Cobra DOHC Powered! UPDATE! 1/22/23

Look forward to following your build on this. I like the clean look of your Blue LX 1:1 car. You have a big advantage in this since you have experience with the 1:1 subject. -
The three cars mentioned started as strictly show cars but the response to them, and that GM may have been hoping that they would be popular so they started production. The door modifications mentioned were to introduce what was called the Darin Dip. My thought was that the Buick had the greatest body modifications mainly at the Trunk and rear quarter panels and Tail lights. The Buick saw a couple of year model issues with the Skylark name becoming a trim option before it was used on a compact model car. The Cadillac El Dorado continued for many years with the biggest differences from the normal bodies being thru the '57 model year with a unique rear fin and tail light treatment. The name eventually went on their front wheel drive car based on the Oldsmobile Tornado.

The stock trucks I recall usually had a flat to semi flat light gold color interior. Depending on the type of grapes used it could be called champagne. Most of the inner doors were exposed metal and painted slightly lighter shade than the dash. A small removeable panel on the inner doors that the door handle and window cranks are mounted on were often a lighter almost beige color. The seats had a vinyl material around the outer edge with a cloth insert with a darker color being the primary color. The optional Custom Cab option was for the most part additional chrome trim on the exterior of the cab. While there may have been some additional interior upgrades offered I think the best source of information would be any sales materials that may be found on line.
