'36 Ford 5ive window coupe, old build being resurrected.
espo replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Great idea adding to the bottom edge of the front end. -
Some Copper or Aluminum tubing cut at an angle for carb stacks. Paint them a light yellow to represent "Rock Mountain Kool-Aid", Coors, or a local brew of choice.

Great looking picture. Not sure where it came from or if you have any information about the dealership in the picture. Something that comes to my mind is one the name Tonkin. I'm thinking of a dealer in the Pacific Northwest. The cars on the transport trucks look as if this is a fleet order arriving. I notice that they seem mostly to be the base model Mercury's and two door post with a few four doors. They all seem to have the black wall tires and all painted white. I know that Murcury's were used often by law enforcement in 1957. Makes one wonder why they were making such a big deal out of a shipment of white base model cars.

What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have always thought this model BMW was the best looking. Many years ago a coworker had a bright red one with an off white interior. -
Wildest Paint Job I've Ever Seen
espo replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was going to mention the wrap idea also. A local "tint shop" in the area has done several of these that I have seen ranging from a flat to a mirror blue on one of their company trucks. When you get tired of it you can go back to the original color or do it in another color. -
Tamiya TS65 Pearl Clear questions
espo replied to bh1701's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would try it out on a plastic spoon, and you will be able to see what it will actually look like to your eye. -
While I don't think this is your inter problem, one thing that comes to mind is that some air is getting trapped because of the size of the decal. On the edges where there seems to be folds in the decal and will not lay down sometimes just a very small cut will relieve the tension in the edge of the decal and it will lay down. This may cause some overlap at the sight of the cut. Another thing to try is to use a pin and make a hole just big enough to let the trapped air out. This should let that area then lay down. In the picture it looks as if there is the outline for an opening under the decal and this would trap air as well. Consider making a few pin pricks in this outline so that the decal can conform to the shape. Before the decal completely dries but is pretty much set where it's going to be, use a new #11 blade to cut the decal so that it will settle down into the groove much like if you were going across a door opening. Solvent setting solutions should let the edge of your cut conform to the shape.

We have had a long running argument with the city as to the trash pickup. Up until about ten years ago there were a few options on local trash companies that we could use for trash pick up and we would be billed directly by which ever company that a homeowner was using. Then the city passed an ordinance that the city would provide the trash service and use one company and the city billed the residence monthly and in our case the service cost use about 25% more and the service was hit, and mis and the trucks leaked hydraulic fluids at the end of the driveway on every pickup. At City Hall Meeting we were told that we had no choice in the matter and that even if we wanted to use our original trash company, we would still have to pay the monthly fee. As for the cardboard and recycle item's again that was thru the city, and you still had to pay. My suggestion is for anyone that is unhappy with the way their city is conducting business is to start attending the city hall meetings and listen to what they city console is saying and doing. They should offer an open time to residents that have questions, and I would use that time to offer objections, if need be, This city has had a long history of annexing surrounding areas that are part of the county so that they can tax the homeowners without providing any additional services. This got to the point that the state of Kansas passed new laws that forbid some of these actions by cities and protect the citizens from illegal annexations in the future. Unfortunately, it was not retroactive and we were unable to stop our being annexed even though a group of our residents along with those of another larger city near us were the ones that got our state representatives to get the laws enacted.

I like the Pizza box idea. They had a news bit on the 5pm news about the local problems with recycling and how it was costing too much. Part of the problem had to do with recycled cardboard that had been used as a food wrapper. Seems that if any food stuff at all was ever on the cardboard that cardboard couldn't be used and had to be removed by hand at the recycle center and that was costing them a lot as well.

1975 Chevy K5 Blazer
espo replied to StanGlover's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great looking Blazer and the paint is nice and smooth. I like the white grill and bumpers. -
Beautiful looking paint work. The interior is also realistic looking.
-
I like the understated look with the colors. Engine looks nice so far and should really stand out on this when you get the rest of the accessories mounted. Nice looking wheels.
-
Beautiful looking paint work, and I still think this was the best color combination for the Bel Air. The trim all looks nice and cleanly done.
-
Great looking El Camino. Great looking paint and color. I'm a big fan of those wheels.

Great looking tubs. -
High level of finish, but just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Kit Review! AMT 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Annual kit
espo replied to RDean58's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
This kit along with the others that AMT brought to market were as good as it got in 1963. They did have some very small issues with some areas of trim and that can be seen in the picture of the tail light and trunk area of the model. Notice some flash along the edge of the chrome trim cast over the right side truck lid. This was still better than what you would expect at the time and a little carful carving and sanding and it was fine. -

They come in several diameters and even an Asprin bottle can be used depending on what will fit your tires. I just cut them in half length wise and the bottom serves as the inner splash panel. You should have plenty of width to work with and just cut to fit. They do seem to require a little extra primer before they will hold paint like the rest of your kits body, but this can depend on the type of plastic in the pill bottle. -
Another red Raptor

Great looking finishes and all the trim looks very clean. I like how you have the truck in the wild and more natural setting. -
1973 Ford F100

The frame is model all on it's own. Great looking fab work on the body. This looks like something you would see on the TV show Texas Metal. -

I was going to suggest widening the rear fenders, but a little late for that. The rear wheel tubs into the bed you might see if you have any old prescription plastic bottles around, they can be cut to length and make perfect wheel tubs. -
Great looking "Cop Car" this is an interesting option that Revell offered on this kit. Nice to see one built this way.

Great looking body of work for 2021.
