  1. The 4 lug nuts might be a limiting factor. The optional wheels in the Studebaker Avanti and the Torino "Red Tomato" kits come to mind but they are 5 lug. The lug nuts could be cut off and glue on something to represent the 4 lug setup.
  2. Did you have any mid to late '60's Mercury kits you were going thru ??
  3. I like how you have beet this kit into submission. The 6 cylinder and a floor shift would have made an unusual 1:1 but you get to build it anyway you want. I like the colors for the body as well.
  4. Thank you for sharing. A lot of great looking rides, especially that red Chevy pickup.
  5. I know this has been an ongoing problem with the pop up ads but it is starting to get out of hand again. Noticed yesterday and again today that some are starting to cover someone's post that you want to see. Can't open their post without going into the ad. Just a heads up on the problem.
  6. Just as operators of multi axle rigs need a special license I think the operators of some of these vehicles on the road today also need to have a special testing for an operators license since they can't seem to keep them between the lines on the road or the parking lots. Then again parking lots are designed as if everyone is driving an early Honda Civic.

    1969 Torino GT

Great looking build. This does really show how these looked when new. I thought the roof design from the Mustang looked good on the Fairlane. Very clean looking stock trim and stripes.
  8. You mentioned wanting ideas for the fin sides. I would try cutting several paper bits shaped like that area and paint them in the different colors. These could then be placed in the area to see if you like them or not before going to paint. Two tone options of the day were to match the roof color to the sides on the 210 model as the Bel Air had the aluminum splash panel there. This would also offer you the option of putting something in there to match the interior or even something altogether different. Great looking interior and the '57's always looked good in their factory shade much like you are using.
  9. Great looking build of the movie car.
  10. The last time I looked it was on the second page.
  11. I feel the same way, it's not something I have ever done but I'm now considering it. This is based on a video attached to a build that is in the Under Glass Section on the forum. A new member here posted a beautifully done '69 Camaro there. Doublyyoung 200 is new to the forum and along with several pictures of his build he included a video showing how he built the model along with a lot of good information on the painting of the body along with a demonstration on how he painted the window moldings. This got me to thinking this is something I should try with all the issues everyone is having with foil right now. I suggest watching his video and see if that isn't something to consider.

    283 FI engine

I agree. This is a much better way to show the engine. Need a diorama to put it in. Great detail on the finishes.
  13. Beautifully finished. I enjoyed watching your build and the extent of the detailing that you went to on this.
  14. A lot of builders are complaining about quality issues with Bare Metal Foil lately and this maybe what they are talking about. I'm still using foil I bought a couple of years ago and haven't had any problems myself but I'm worried about the future with the foil problems. Might be time to try one of the spray paint options.
  15. I've been trying to get a discount on my hair cuts since I now only have half of my original head of hair.

    My 67 vette

Great looking Corvette. Is the picture of the 1:1 yours ?
  17. Beautiful looking A's. Enjoyed watching your build on this and really like how it turned out.
  18. What a beauty, I love the paint scheme it's so MoPar. Great stance and the leaning tower of power looks perfect here. I have had two wagons in my life back when they cheap and no one really wanted a second hand wagon. Now I kick myself for ever letting either one of them go.
  19. Beautiful looking paint and trim. I like the Day Two look and the Dish Slots put it in the late 60's or early 70's.
  20. There are spray paints available that are designed to seal and protect older decals with issues like you have described. If you can't find replacement decals that my be something to try.
  21. They both look great. The retro styling of the SSR blends well with the Mercury. The finish and paint work look good on both.
  22. Don't want to try and change your direction in this build, I remember a '57 that was customized for an article in Rod & Custom Magazine back when I could hide the little pages in my books at school. They used the center section of the hood from a '56 Ford to replace the gun sights from the hood on a then new '57 Chevrolet. The great thing about a build like this is you get to do it your way.
  23. I would toss the bare metal foil you have and buy some new. Practice on a spare part or body to get comfortable working with the foil before trying anything as nice as this Corvette.
