67 Knafel Pontiac's Acadian
espo replied to 59 Impala's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
In that era of Drag Racing the engine could be anything depending on the class it was setup to run in at that given time. Next weekend at another track it might be running a different setup and a different set of rules depending on the sanctioning body or the rules of the track it's self. -
Your build is looking great. I have to wonder if your foil issues might have to do with the quality issues they have been having lately with bare metal foil .

Great looking paint finish. I like how you did your display pictures. -

I've been known to turn the pan around in a pinch on a model. You would be surprised at how many even in the 1:1 community don't know about the Oil Pan thing. -
Very impressive engine and chassis details. Great looking paint and color, just needs the sponsors decals and lettering.

Great looking color and paint finish. Nice detailing of the engine compartment. The staggered wheel and tire setup looks mean.
-
I like the paint color combination.

Great looking build. I like the use of the Military colors for the body color. The trim looks nice and clean and I like the wheel and tire combination.

Your build looks just like the real car. I worked with a guy in the early '80's who bought a '69 Boss 302 from the original owner who really knew how to care for an automobile and drive it with out breaking it. This guy had more dollars than cense and managed to destroy the engine in a couple of months. Your paint finish and the body and molding trim looks perfect and just the way I remember them looking.

Well thought out build. When I first started reading this I thought I would mention the Oil Pan/Steering Linkage issue on the OEM 1:1 car. As I read on I realized it wouldn't matter as your going in a different direction. Going to enjoy watching your build. -
There is a section here on the forum where you can list your needs. The generosity of the members here to help one another is amazing.

I was going to say a Chevrolet engine as well. These cars built and sold in Canada usually relied on a lot of Chevrolet parts but added Pontiac trim, made some really interesting looking cars. -
Many have posted problems with FedeX shipping myself included. They used to be pretty good about handling shipments but not anymore it would seem. When ordering something that has to be shipped I try and get who ever is shipping to me to use some other source even if you have to pay a little extra, just to save the brain damage.

Nice to see this one again. I always liked how you made such a nice stock looking model and again the front end that seems to be the big stumbling block on this one.

I've been following your build and really like how it has turned out. Just a thought if you aren't now doing this, you mention the problems with the headers and even the rear bumper. Try "pinning" the mounts for the headers and any other part that doesn't want to hold together. I will use cut up staples. Drill a small hole in the parts to be joined the size of the pin. Glue the pin in one part and then glue the other part to it. The pin gives the joint more contact area for the glue an will reinforce the mounting.

This is a great kit and takes very little detailing to make it really outstanding. When I built mine I did it mostly as an OOB. For paint I used Tamiya Gold Mt. for the base and Tamiya Candy Red along with Clear after the decals were applied. I used the red tinted windows from the kit and I also shaped some thin clear plastic in the shape of the side windows. These were cut down to have the passenger side window up and the drivers window just partially up and I sprayed the side windows with a light coat of the Candy Red to look like Red tinted Lexan. The kit includes either a plastic or a photo etched Grill which is what I used.

What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice looking Mustang. Most of these I remember seeing were the fastback body style. While to my eye this isn't the best looking Mustang ever, you have to like this with the wheels and tires and the attention the owner has put into it. -
I have had the Fly in the Wine thing for real and if you look at my first post that is the way we have always handled it. So one year for Christmas my wife's younger sister sent us a joke gift. The wine glasses she sent were called Red Neck Wine Glass. A normal size stem glass with a mason jar on top with a screw lid. We display them with our wine tasting glass collection and it's always good for a laugh.

Great looking paint finish and that color looks good on this. I also like the lift and the wheels and tires look perfect for this.

I like how you chopped the top as it really stream lines the body and it almost looks like you raised the rear quarters. The stance looks perfect for this style. Why can't I ever find deals like this when I go shopping ?

Great looking Street Rod. All of the trim and the engine look really cleanly done.
-
Great looking Rat Rod. I like how you "Dared to be different" and used the Hudson engine.

Killer looking color and finish. The interior is a nice contrast. -
I'm a big fan of this kit and the subject. Unless you want to go to a wheel with a lot less off set you'll need to narrow the rear differential to get the tires under the body.
