I'm in awe looking at the engineering and design that went into this build. As beautiful as the finished model looks there is no way to fully appreciate what you have put into it without the pictures of the construction.

You are correct. This model Oldsmobile was the factory hot rod of the day. Thankyou Alan. There are three others that I lost interest in this year and put them back in their boxes. I hope to finish two of them along with some other new subjects this next year. I'm glad you like the dash. This technique is something I have learned from some of the other builders here. I started doing the wood bed floors in my pickup builds and this is my first dash board. Thankyou one and all for kind words. Your compliments and words of appreciation mean a great deal coming from you all.

Hello Gareth, Thankyou for your kind words on these. I remember our back and forth while building the '48 Chevy. I think we had both looked at the same magazine that I used for the idea for this build.

Great looking build. The instruments look good as does the rest of the interior.
-
Impressive looking Bike. I've never built one but this one makes me want to try with all the fine detailing done here.
-
Great looking paint and finish. Good color combination with the interior. I like the period correct wide white walls.
-
Beautiful looking paint. Impressive detailing on the engine and interior.

A lot of scratch building on these two. impressive looking wire wheels and all of the details of the build done in brass. Very creative take on the Gremlin. Again your use of brass for the steering and suspension looks very realistic. Major body changes and the colors really complement the body designs.

I agree with RAT-T on the color and a great looking finish. Looks like you may have done some work on the front end. The bumpers remind me of '55 or '56 Chevrolet and I've wanted to do the Corvette tail lights on the next Olds. also. What sort of interior and engine work have you done on this ?

OK. I'm not familiar with the movie so I didn't realize the connection with the hub cap. -

I like your little '49 Ford. If you want or need a hub cap for that let me know. Nice natural looking finish like a gently used vehicle. -
Beautiful looking paint work. You can see the reflection of the background in the paint. The chrome trim is also cleanly done.
-
I also like the blue T-Bucket. The food trailer looks well done. Seeing the early Ambulance and the Delivery truck and how clean they look, subjects that you don't see very often, nice to see them done this way.

The paint work is outstanding and every little detail seems to be cleanly done. Looking at the brake drum treatment on the gray Porsche you can see the red painted brake drums even thru the vents in the wheel centers.

Jeepster-Wrangler

I like the colors you used on this. I was following your WIP and was impressed with how you mixed and matched parts from so many different sources. I know "It's a Jeep thing" but I do get it. -
My class of 2020

They both look great. Very nice paint work. I'm partial to El Caminos and this one is really special looking. -
Great looking Firebird, that's the way I would have wanted one at the time. .

Great range of subjects. I like the '32 Tub and the Ala Kart style decals on the '34. I actually got to see and more importantly hear the Melrose Missile at the Winter National in '63. Those cars with the engine at "Full Song" will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The little T-Bird I think I remember you working on the color lay out sometime ago. Great idea using your inspiration.

Interesting Comparisons

That is kind of what it looked like to me also. This was in late 1973 so it would be the earlier body styles which looked even more alike. I do recall that the Toyota was nicely trimed with moldings and the first rear window slats I remember seeing. -
1971 Ford F100 Ranger Pickup

I have used Model Master Chevrolet Hugger Orange and their Grabber Orange that is a little lighter and is supposed to be a Ford color so that might work. I used their Go Mango on a Sedan Delivery once and almost like it better than the Hugger Orange, but that's only my opinion. Tamiya offers an Orange TS-12 that is real bright. -

The picture of the Camaro and the Toyota Celica reminds me of the first time I ever noticed the Celica. I had just moved to another part of the state and gotten a new home. My girlfriend and I went for a walk around the new neighborhood around dusk. We walked about a block and turned down another street and there was this fastback style car that I didn't recognize. We stopped for a moment to look it over. I wasn't interested in imports at all but in the lighting it reminded me more of a Mustang than anything else. -
The '48 Chevrolet Styline was inspired by a car featured in a magazine. The body chrome is all added using different sizes of Plastruct. The engine is fully plumbed and wired. The interior has a full tuck & roll treatment along with painted wood trim finish on the dash and window surrounds. The interior paints are Tamiya TS-68 Wood Deck Tan and AS-15 (USAF) Tan. The body is done with Model Master Phoenician Yellow followed by their Clear.

This has been a goofy year and I have broken my personal rule to only build one at a time. I only these two finished and three WIP that kept me from finishing any of them. The CHP Olds. is one that has been on my mind since the '50 Oldsmobile kit was first released. The only body changes were to remove the chrome trim from the doors for the CHP decals just as the 1:1 was done. The red & amber lights on the rear package tray was the way it was done at the time and I used the fog lights from the leftovers box. Painted with Tamiya paints and clear also over the decals. The door decals are from Chimneyville Hobbies and the License Plates are of the style used and were done with decals from Shabo Tags all purchased over twenty years ago.

Thank you for the pictures, This looks like one of the Hiperformance versions based on the exhaust and Quadrajet Carb. I always thought it was a shame the way this engine got overlooked at the time. Just think if you were looking at a new '67 Firebird or Tempest which would you buy ? This or a 400 cu.in. V-8 ? History tells us what most buyers did. A few did get to have a unique experience with this and a 4 - speed in a light bodied car.

Nice verity of build subjects. I like the Van matching Trailer you did for your Nephew and the '32 Ford with the '50's candy stripe upholstery pattern.
