Tulio you're back. I have missed your beautiful Ford builds.
-
They are both beautifully built and I like seeing the differences between the two models.
-
Outstanding details thru out this build. Great paint design and colors.
-
I remember some write ups on their racing in Hot Rod years ago. Your build seems to really capture the look and is cleanly done. Makes me whish my father had chosen a different carrier path, but he wouldn't have let me go racing anyway.

I fought that so and so exhaust pipe until I was afraid i would break it. It is what it is and you just need to be careful getting anything out of the trunk.

Hi Charlie. For the "wood" trim I usually use Tamiya TS-68 for a base color. I'll dry brush other darker shades of brown and I like to add X-34 Metal Brown sometimes. Depending on how dark I want the overall look I'll use X-24 clear yellow or for a darker finish I use X-26 clear orange. This particular kit has built in side window molding for the inside. Unfortunately they are hard to see after assembly.

Thanks Mike. I used Tamiya TS-14 Black and TS-13 Clear. I really like this kit and I think I have built a couple of others in different styles.
-
Very cleanly built. Perfect color for this one. I had a friend many years ago that owned one of these. Poor guy spent more time and money under it than he did driving it, but he loved it.
-
Great looking color and I like the wide body style on this. Looks like it's displayed with some good company also.

Hi Gerath, Another great looking creation. I like the theme as a Drag Racer. That is one form of racing that a car like this would actually fit in perfectly. The Slicks would put you into a lower Stock Class as long as they aren't to wide or Bracket type racing. The basic chassis is well detailed as is the engine. The name on the car fits it perfectly.

Great looking build. These were good looking cars when new. The color and finish look just like the original. I like how you detailed the engine also.
-
The level of detail on this is mesmerizing. Looking at some of the pictures it is hard to remember this is a model.

K&R Kustom+Rods '32 5ive Window Rolling Bones Chopped Coupe
espo replied to Kit Karson's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I think even I could chop a top now, or at least be comfortable trying. The pictures of the finished model look great. -
Your build looks like it's going well so far.

'57 Chevy Sedan Delivery
espo replied to TransAmMike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just a thought if you really want a '57 Delivery and can't find one. Get the '56 Delivery and combine it with a '57 body. This would depend on your comfort level with such surgery but there are many here that have done this sort of conversion and I'll bet they'll be more than happy to offer tips and guidance along the way. -
I used a combination of 1.5 and 2 mm half round Plastruct to create side trim on the Suburban. They also offer flat stripes that may better represent the side trim you're trying to make. The scale is such that the black colored stripe my not be visible anyway.

Jo-Han Javelin inspired by Ringbrothers' Defiant

This is going to be a fun build to watch. -
I remember a classmates parents getting a new bright red Buick convertible with red interior. The car was the same year model as the silver hardtop above. They had the Continental Kit like this one but I recall the rear fenders were also extended so that the top plate of the continental kit was covered on the sides a little more. With these appendages hanging off the back they could offer 50% - 50% weight distribution for better handling in corners, no ?
-
You have a really great looking old Impala there. The hub caps look good and only a light black wash to help bring out the details on them. I'll be looking forward to watching your build.
-
An additional thought would be kits where the engine and transmission are done in halves running length wise. I suggest gluing those together before any painting since you may need to use a little filler to hide the seem between the two parts. Depending on the engine and the types of metal or alloy materials you're trying to represent many of the parts would have to be painted before assembly. Often a cast metal block will have a flat finish and the oil pan or valve covers and timing chain cover will have a semi-gloss to a gloss finish. Even engines that are all aluminum will often have a slightly different finish or color shade even.

'57 Chevy Sedan Delivery

I would try and find a Resin SD from the Modelhaus. Someone may still have one and having built on of their '56 SD they look just like the real thing. The problem is they have been out of business for a few years so it may be expensive if you can even find one. Option two, and far more reasonably priced would be Star Models. Steve at Star models can be found on this site in the directory in the resin parts area. He offers good products and has models you didn't even realize that you needed. -
Gofer Racing Decals offers a wide verity of automotive based decals including a couple of sheets for fictitious businesses. Most hobby shops should either have them or can get them for you. There are several online model retailers that may have them also. I have used their other decals for license plates and pin striping and they seem to be of good quality.

Besides being all cleanly detailed looking builds I like the background information as this makes you better appreciate the model you're looking at. Excellent build style and I like your take on the '51 Chevy and the '40 Ford/Willes pickup.

I like the variety of subjects. Nice clean looking builds. I like that you kept the GTO as a post two door instead of a hardtop.
