  1. I was in my local Hobby Shop yesterday for some supplies. They had the newest issue along with the past issue on their magazine rack. After looking through the latest issue I still feel I was correct to not renew my subscription. That said I can see where this would be a great magazine for a builder with a far broader modeling interest than myself.
  2. Now that's funny.
  3. I have a file collection that I got years ago that was offered by X-Acto. This has a 1" by 2" wood block with 12 different designed files standing up in it. I think I saw something like it at a local Hobby Lobby store in their model section. That my be a good place to look anyway.
  4. I have this same unit and have used it for a few years now. While I like it fine the filters are a bit of an issue. The filters from the manufacture are very pricy and are marginally effective. I have been making my own using generic foam type filter material. I have been getting my filter material from Home Depot, but I'm sure most any hardware story would have the material needed. I just cut the material to size to fit in the filter location. For the exhaust I'm using laundry dryer duct material. I prefer the expandable aluminum rather than the plastic. When not in use the ducting can be curled up and put on a shelf without disconnecting it from the back of the blower. I have a door leading out of our basement where I do my painting and just open the door enough to put the dryer hose through the opening when in use.
  5. I like the paint effect on the sides of the body. Great looking paint color and finish.
  6. Great looking Old's. Very smooth looking paint and the decals all look good and straight.
  7. I like how you redid the inner fenders and firewall. Adding the cover between the grill and the radiator support really cleans up that area and hides a lot of the kits inaccuracies in that area as well.
  8. I just went and looked at my paint stash and I don't have either of those numbers myself. I have bought their metallic paints before, not these numbers , and don't recall paying a premium for them. I'll take a look next week when I go into town.
  9. Sounds like a good marketing idea. We'll sometimes have a puzzle going this time of year, so I'll be looking for one of these.
  10. I would suggest stretching the length of the rear wheel opening in the rear quarter panels. This was often what was done with the 1:1 cars and would expose a little more of the rear tires to view.
  11. That may be. i haven't seen any of the "New" Tamiya paints around here. I bought a can of TS-21 Gold today for. $6.43 and this is the paint product I was thinking of when I made my comment.
  12. Shared body style from the '68 model year thru the '72 model. I realize that there would be differences in some trim and lights if this was not intended for the North American market when new. I notice the Hood has the SS fake vents but the front Fenders have side marker lights that would have been on a 6 cylinder car but includes the SS "gills" used on the '68 and '69 models. The Grill has an emblem that looks like an SS emblem but can't really tell. The Wheels appear to be 15" by 8" Corvette style Rally Wheels and the Hub Caps look like the '67 only cap or later model caps without the longer center section attached. This reminds me of my '72 SS that was painted Flame Orange Metallic, think of a Hugger Orange with very small Gold Metallic in the clear coat.
  13. Got up this morning to a very light dusting almost like Powdered Sugar on French Toast. Just enough to cause wrecks every where and shut down a couple of major hiways until they can treat the roadways and clear away the debris from the wrecks. You would think that people living in this part of the world with all their big 4WD SUVs would know how to drive in this, but you would be wrong.
  14. Very realistic looking. I agree with you on the stance.. I always appreciated Bill Elliot as a driver and competitor but especially how he conducted himself at all times. You don't get voted the most popular driver over and over if you don't earn it. That said I am and always will be an Earnhardt fan.
  15. This reminds me of some of the futuristic show cars the manufactures had at car shows back then. The top especially since that was one of the things Ford was using at that time. All of the extra styling parts are blended in smoothly and the paint looks great.

    Supra Nova

I like the unique engine you used and the paint finish really gives it the sleeper look. Great wheels and tires plus the stance.
  17. Glad to see you're getting back to this build, I thought maybe I missed it in Under Glass some time ago. Great looking Grill and Bumpers.
  18. I like the weathering on this, it really looks the part. Did you create the bed or was that from the kit ? You might get more attention to your build if you put it under light trucks section if you have to move it.
  19. Just looks a little heavy to me, just my opinion. Since your wanting to go with Ford styling Q's maybe some trim like Ford used on the bottom edge of trunk lid like their '55 model passenger cars. Maybe put together some trim to continue the body side trim across the tail gate. I have removed the Nomad Tail Gate Trim on a build a couple of years ago. This will take a lot of sanding and priming for them not to shadow thru your top color coat. I suggest when you think you got it the way you want it and in primer give it a coat of gloss clear and let it dry. This way any shadowing from the trim will show before you go to your color coats.
  20. Locally the Hobby Lobby here has been offering their Primers for $10.50 for some time now. This may be part of some new pricing strategy in case you use your 40% coupon.
  21. I would appreciate any information you can share on this body or kit. A few years ago I was already to get the promised Pontiac version of the Manero UTE here but we all know what happened to GM so it never came about. I would love to have a kit of one of these.
  22. You bought and payed for it so you own it, it's yours todo with what ever you so desire. Just post your build here please.
  23. Your roof looks so much better now and I like how your rear fenders are meeting up with the tail gate surround . At some point after all the major body work is done, think about removing the "Nomad" words on the top of the tailgate and maybe some sort of Ford script in stead. Since this is a high end type of trim I would keep the chrome strips on the tailgate. This build has me thinking about a use for an old Revell '56 Nomad roof from a failed project from long ago.
  24. I have always liked the Nova and the other GM cars based upon this body. I'll look forward to watching your build.
  25. Interesting. They are building in 1:1 scale where we use 1/24th or larger scale to do the same thing.
