  1. Not that it matters but I would leave off the wing. At most maybe a small lip spoiler on the edge of the trunk lid. Your mock up with out the wing this really looks slick. Great job on the chassis.
  2. That's beyond a little rust. With this type of rot and this being a Unibody construction type vehicle you have to wonder what the suspension mounting points look like and the floors also. I will say someone has gotten their moneys worth out of this car since it is more than 50 years old.
  3. I like that they even precut the spark plug boots. Nice looking finishes on the drive and the cap.
  4. One question that comes to my mind is the final finish your are going for, mainly the hood wish is often done in a flat black. I prefer to clear over any decals myself. I know many others prefer not to but that choice is up to you. The reason I ask about the hood finish is that it will make a difference in how the decals look. Decals should be applied on the smoothest surface possible. Even a little orange peal in the color coat will leave the decal and its edges obvious. This is even more obvious if you're applying on a flat colored surface. The "340" hood decal that would go on the hood would look best if the hood was painted a high gloss black. Color sand and polish until it is as smooth as possible. Then apply your decal call out on the hood. Allow to dry and then spray it with a flat clear. You may want to try this on a scrap piece of plastic with a decal that you aren't going to use anyway.
  5. I like your aging process on the paint. The light blue now looks like an oxidized dark blue. What did you use to hold the salt in place at the start ?
  6. Great looking build. Nice smooth paint job. I like how you show a cleanly detailed area behind the grill and lower pan body panels. I have also enjoyed this kit and plan to build another soon.
  7. Beautiful looking '55. I like the Gasser flair. A lot of well thought out modifications that make this far more accurate looking.
  8. Great looking build. A lot of under hood detailing well done. The upper hose, who hasn't had that happen ? At least its the upper and not the lower hose. Very nice interior appointments
  9. Smart lady. With that same idea in mind the door hinges and handle on the driver's side may also show more signs of wear. Are you going to keep the right front fender spare mount or fill the fender ?
  10. Always enjoy seeing what different builders come up with for this kit.
  11. Fantastic to hear.

Great idea displaying them together. Both of these look great and really gives someone a good idea of what they were side by side.
  13. That's OK I like how it looks and you have a right to be proud of it.
  14. I remember when you got this and followed along when you posted the upgrades.
  15. Moles. The few times I had that problem it involved putting a garden hose or two in their holes and stand by with a shovel and wait for them to stick their heads out. They'll be partially blinded by the sun when they first come out. I aim the shovel just below where they are coming out. It all ends very quickly from there. Should you notice little rises running thru your gardens especially I'll just step in them so that you collapse the tunnels and this will give them fewer escape routes. I had to fill in my neighbor about them since that's the way they moved.
  16. Just goes to show you can't fix stupid . I'm still laughing on both counts.
  17. That would make more sense than a soft drink maker.
  18. Great looking build. I like the style and it's nice to see something other than a small block engine. Thanks to you and randyc for mentioning the fitment issue. I have one of the original issues of this kit and I may even get around to it someday.
  19. Nice to see that you're back on this one. I like how you did the grill it looks great and the headlights look more realistic done this way.
  20. Check any local HL, Michel's, or any where else that sells Jewelry making supplies. They have all kinds of wire, chains, Think pick up tail gate chains and much more.
  21. This kit was reissued a year or two ago as the Ed Roth '57 Chevy Bel Air. The kit number is 65-4306. The kit can be built stock but offers a decal set representing Ed Roth's personal car with an extensive set of flames and a stripped roof. The build options include a straight axle to build a gasser. The engine can be built stock or a 6x2 Carb setup or a Super Charger. The box art has a black Bel Air with the flames on it on the cover.
  22. I would either paint the black parts white, or the white parts black. Or just paint the whole thing some other color. This also looks like it may have been a city PD car since they seem to get the most abuse around here anyway.
  23. I have noticed many of the Automotive magazines are hard to find in the usual places. I'm under the impression that there is a distribution step between the publishers and the retailers and I wonder if the availability problems my be at that level ?
  24. I clean all of the resin bodies and parts I work with now using Dawn dish soap. I had a resin body turn to mush on me using Purple Power. In fairness the body was not from Jimmy Flintstone so I'm thinking a different resin compound must have been used as I have enjoyed a couple of his resin bodies before without issues. I fill a sink, any container that will hold water should work, and add the Dawn dish soap with the water at room temperature and allow the body to soak for a good 15 minuets. This may be longer than needed but it works for me. I will swish the body around in the dish water after that time and then rinse with cold water. I use an air brush to dry but again that would be optional. After this you will feel the difference to the touch after cleaning and the Dawn seems to get into all of the crevices and leaves no residue.
  25. I'll have to give this product a try if they return in the future. I think this could be a lot easier to apply. I see that ugly little white colored Grubb on the label.
