I remember a couple of years ago there was a TV program that followed the build of this car. Amazing what you can have built when money isn't a limiting factor. A normal Moal build, done impeccably.

I can see how at first glance this would look like a Moebius ad. Now that I realize it isn't I'm very disappointed since I'd enjoy a build of such a kit of this subject. Just think of all the possibilities. In addition to a stock build, these were raced in NASCAR, as well as the Mexican Road Race. Many Customs were based on this car as well as Low Ridders and everything in between. Makes you hope someone at Moebius is seeing this. Or Revell.

Very cleanly done. They front end seems to fit perfectly. Great color and the stripes look just right here. That color on the 1:1 Camaros could almost cost you your license. I had a '69 Camaro in Hugger Orange and I got tickets from the CHP even when I wasn't doing anything wrong. Nicely detailed interior and engine compartment.

Beautiful looking car. As I mentioned in your build, looking at it now you would never know what all went into making the roof work here. The Pearl Green with the Black fenders look great. Nicely detailed stock Flat Head.

The engine is a marvel in it's self. -
A lot of outsourcing for parts and it looks great the way you're building this.

Great looking build. Adding the moldings can really change the overall look after they're foiled. That is one of my favorite colors and I have to use restraint not to paint everything Fiery Orange. Your carpet treatment is also interesting since you even gives you some of the color texture you would see in a 1:1 car. Nice interior colors and they go well with the exterior.

I like how you do your Vinyl Roof seams, after seeing how you did your Nova. I'm with you and the painted lower valance. You could always use Bare - Metal Foil there but I think the body color looks better. You mentioned thinking about a body stripe and I would think a color match to the Vinyl Roof color would blend well if that's the way you go.

I have enjoyed looking in from time to time at your build. I like seeing a main stream car like this get some attention. The color shows the body lines well and with just a little suspension work and the wheels and tires you have a great looking car. Very cleanly built by the way.

Great looking little '37. As alan barton mentioned, you got the little bits of trim done correctly and that makes a big difference in the appearance to anyone that really knows the subject.

Beautiful looking build and the engineering to get everything inside the body is amazing. I like the picture of the engine that also shows part of the front suspension and the front tires.

In reference to the term "Pink Slips" they are talking about the Title of ownership of the vehicle. At that time the state of California issued titles that were printed on paper that was a pinkish color. They were the same size as the registration slips that were required to be in the car. I never knew anyone who won or lost a car Drag Racing, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

What did you see on the road today?

This morning was maybe the one time I didn't have my phone to take a picture. We were having breakfast at our favorite breakfast place and my wife spotted a Mustang pulling into the parking lot. We walk around it when we were leaving. I think it was a "65 or '66 in black with the off white pony interior and a nicest of chrome wheels on it. The paint just short of show car and the interior was much the same. I wouldn't have parked it in a regular parking lot were everyone parks on top of each other. -
Don't forget the Galaxie kits of the Chevrolet for '46 thru '48 year models. They offer a 2 door coupe, a Sedan Delivery, and an Aerosedan also. Very accurate chassis, body and interiors. They even have some speed equipment for the 6 cyl. engine.

Who made this 60 El Camino
espo replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The original '60 El Camino was an SMP/AMT product. As ZTony8 suggested, any body parts and maybe even interior also could come from Revell's '60 Impala kit. The chassis under the AMT '59 El Camino would be very basic compared to the Revell Impala's chassis. I have thought about redoing the one I have so I would be interested in seeing what all you can do with yours. -
This in my mind is one of the best looking BMWs ever.

I think the poor service on the shipping was because of the USPO. As I mentioned I don't think anyone is home in their so called Customer Service Line.

I like the second line on the tag. AMT ? -
Thank you for the info. I have used some of his fine decals in the past, just never thought of him having a set for the Edsel. I think I'll order a set since I plan to build at least one of my Edsel kits in the future.

It can't, even in the best of circumstances. This is a great kit until it comes to this. never understood what they were thinking here. rcomstanses

I had one of those in high school that I used in the cafeteria during lunch. I put it by the trash can that you were supposed to scrape your plate off at. The only consolation to the three day suspension was watching the principal try and keep a straight face while he told my step mother why she needed to come pick my up at school.

Great looking redo. Interesting tail panel treatment. I like how you were able to fit the Ford Boot Cover for the top.
-
Now that's a proper looking BMW.

A good clean in some regular dish soap would be a good start. The mold release used on many castings can be a problem. The ones I have used I try to do any clean up and sanding away from my normal work station. Resin doesn't always like to stick to our normal model paints and the dust from any sanding can get on other parts you're working with and may cause a problem when you get to paint. I have had the best luck using regular automotive primer on the resin parts instead of regular primer. Beyond that the normal sanding of the primer prior to any color coats seem to work fine. I'm sure others will also have some additional advice in this area.
