Great looking setup. I like how you extended the rear making it a carrier. This looks like something a Citroen Dealer may use for a shop truck.

AMT 1949/1950 Ford sedan/ convertible .
espo replied to Ballroad's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To make the '49 Club Coupe into a '50 model all you need is the grill from the convertible kit and create the rear license plate cover. I have done the rear license plate cover on a few builds since I like the looks of it better. The '49 year model Trunk handle was little more than that, a handle. On the 1:1 the key lock is on the right side of the handle. When unlocked the right side handle lifts up to open the trunk. On the '50 year model Ford replaced the handle setup with a body part that contained the light for the license plate and the chrome strip on the edge has the key lock in it. After unlocking the trunk the latch handle is just to the right of center underneath. The reason for the additional information is only to help you know what all this was for. I have found that working on a model of a 1:1 car that I'm not familiar some of these details are hard to understand. IF you're really going for the dead on stock look there are a few easily missed details. The '50 had a Ford crest instead of the FORD lettering at the center of the hood. The hood ornament has the clear plastic at the top ending just before the 90 degree angle to the hood while the '49 extends further and is angled forward. The '50 kit has the correct shape so that would be the solution on that. I hope this will help you with your '50 Ford build. -
Panther Pink is a bold color for any Mopar. They wear it well. Nice save on this, I have never seen a Charger Promos before.

Very nice, any additional pictures ?

D-100 Reissued -- C-10 Next ?
espo replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have to agree with the other fans of the Square C-10 Chevy's. I admit a personal preference since I have owned both a '74 and a '79 short step side. I realize there are those that prefer the Fleetside so maybe they could issue one of each. The grills and some exterior trim are the only real differences between the year models. The interiors, depending on trim level, are almost the same except for the Dash. I'd buy a few of each thank you. -
Now that is racing. With some of the Turbo 4's and 6's we see today and front wheel or even AWD systems that could be very interesting and far more relevant than what passes for "Stock Car" racing today.

AMT 1949/1950 Ford sedan/ convertible .

First let me say that the conversion done by Modlbidr has got to be the best home grown conversion I have seen. If you can find one of the Modelhaus resin castings grab it. At one time they even offered a Crestiner with a simulated vinyl roof. An easier way around all this to create a two door Sedan check out Star Models. They have a presents here on the forum under Resin/After Market. There is a list of many different suppliers there and I have one of the Star two door kits to recreate the '51 Ford tudoor I had in my wasted youth. -
Thank you for the information on this kit. For some reason I passed on the purchase during the last reissue. Based on your build I'm inclined to pick one up the next time I see one.

There is an outside chance that they have seen or heard of a pencil, as for the Cassette you just know they would be dumb founded trying to understand how music could be stored on this.

This would be far to complex and undertaking for the average child today. Even with an instruction sheet to go by how would they ever figure out where the different parts go ? Now if there was an APP to explain it then maybe if they could focus long enough on the subject they might get some of it done before they lost interest. The time it takes for glue to dry would be their undoing. Painting would be out because it require some prep work and I just don't see that happening. There would be "selfie" time to share with all the others who care what they are doing. I know that there are many very young builders that are capable of this and more, I have seen some of the builds here and many are inspiring to see. Unfortunately they are far to few and far between.

I don't know how practical something like this would be with a little 4 banger under the hood.

Anyone who does this to any car, let alone a Corvette, should have vehicle ownership revoked for life.

Great detail especially in this scale. In the last couple of years different US TV programs have had this vehicle getting rebuilt mainly for Rallying which I understand they were very popular in. There are several things on YouTube showing these competing in Vintage Rallying and they look like they are very competitive. Your build looks like what a stock one must have looked like.

Beautiful looking Grand Prix, these were some of the best looking body styles for Pontiac. The two tone paint doesn't always work, but you followed the body lines and it works well here. The interior Wood Trim looks perfect, the contrasting color inserts in the rear seat and door panels are close enough in color that they could be mistaken for matching wood finishes. The engine is special. The Super Charger and the Carb. setup in particular look like the old AMT '57 Bel Air kit's unit. I would like to know where all those parts came from.

My next “Bring Out Your Dead” project is going out for a vote.

Put me down for the '58 Impala Convertible. #1 where did you get the Convertible top ? #2 a friend of mine got his mother's '58 Impala Convertible when he turned 18. It was about 4 years old at the time. The Impala was white with the red Interior and a basic 283 and Powerglide but it was a great cruiser. -
These were great looking cars anyway and with the high performance engines they were also very quick in their day. Had a neighbor who had a '60 Starliner in black with the black and yellow interior. Not 100% on which engine, but it was a 3speed on the tree and very fast. I like your color combination with the red interior. I also like how you did the engine and the slicks look wright on this as well.

Great looking build. -
Looks like some great offerings. The Chevy pick-up is something I will enjoy. As a side note on that kit. Looking at the photo of the box the white stripes look just like a Chevrolet option at that time called the "Sport Truck". This was a Scottsdale level trim with the addition of the white stripes. The option was limited to just a few colors and one of them being a bright Orange color that could only be had with this option. The original was offered on both 2wd and 4wd chassis. I shouldn't be hard to convert one of these to a 2wd. Now you will not have to rob the Gasser parts from a wagon model to build a more realistic two door '57 Ford Gasser.

Great looking build. I like the colors .

The Pontiac by it's self is a great looking build, and with the correct Chevrolet drive train it really stands out. Very cool looking Trailer. Is this scratch built or is there a kit this is based on ?
-
I think I remember seeing your original post of this build. Either set of wheels look great on it.

I agree with everyone, your build has an outstanding level of detail through out. I can only remember seeing one Z-28 with this color combination, and I was working in a Chevrolet dealership at the time, that car came in trade when only two years old. Everyone in the dealership had to look it over since the colors were so different from the norms in our area. That car was very striking and resold within the week.

I like the OEM look of your build. The paint turned out very nice. Well detailed engine .

This kit does offer some challenges. The paint and trim look great.
