  1. That whole front end looks like it has been rearranged a little. Besides the left front fender being a little bent, look at the driver's head light. The front bumper looks like it has been pushed back some and the grill area is cockeyed also. The mean streets of New York I guess.
  2. Thanx for the heads up. I'll have to go to HL next week, that Tractor looks interesting because it's different.
  3. I share your pain. The trees here are dropping pollen in what can sometimes look like a cloud. I have to go to an Allergist once a week for shots plus take Antihistamines daily. My only relief is a hard freeze or a swim in the Pacific Ocean as the salt water seems to clear my senses.
  4. Great looking slant back.
  5. In the picture your Bel Air looks great. I know what you are saying about Gold and most any color with a lot of metallic in them. There is so much metallic that it's hard to keep it in suspension when you're spraying. I have had somewhat better luck with several very light coats as the thicker coats of paint tend to have the metallic particles tend to clump up or form a pattern in the paint.
  6. Your rebuild looks great. These were not considered the best Plymouth design at the time, but this model looks very nice.
  7. Nice recovery. I see in the earlier pictures it is sitting at rest.
  8. That looks like a natural family set up.
  9. I followed your build on this and it turned out great. Besides being a very clean build that color is just so special.
  10. That would clog up the whole forum.
  11. I like the Gulf livery paint job. The attention to the engine detail is amazing. I remember seeing an amateur sports club race years ago and one of these 7's was leading the way. The driver would come out of a turn on the infield with one front tire in the air on almost every turn.
  12. Beautiful looking build. Very realistic looking finishes and the wheels really add to the look.
  13. I agree with misterNNL, that's about as creative as it gets. I like how you have duel tires on the drive wheels. Great looking ground effects.
  14. This begs the question: how many here own a 427 cu. in. anything today ?? .
  15. Testors offeres a clear Canopy glue and that my be a good option. I have been using a clear glue for my windshield installations from Gallery Glass that I got at a JoAnn's Fabrics.
  16. The color of most , and most being the key word, Chevrolet v-8's in '67 was a little redder than the photo. That time frame seems to be when Chevrolet was transforming the shade of red used on their engines. My personal '67 El Camino purchased new had a 396 engine and the color was somewhat darker than your photo of what looks like a nicely restored engine. BY the '68 year model run the engines started to get a little brighter and just a touch more Orange to the color. The finish also transitioned from an almost flat finish to not quite a semi gloss finish not as shinny as the photo. This is based on the vehicles I have owned and it is possible that others had a different experience with theirs. The Big Block engines, 396, 402, 427, were built in the same engine plant and should in theory be all the same color. Most people would never call you on your engine if you wanted to paint it to match the photo. I think it all depends on if you're going for a 100 % showroom stock or a day two type build. I would only suggest you maybe knock down the shine a little when painting a rough iron casting like an engine.

Great color and very smooth paint work.
  18. I was thinking the Dodge or Plymouth equivalent. The Diplomat name comes to mind.
  19. Great looking "Street GT40". The paint color and finish is perfect. What color and brand is that Red ? Lots of great details thru out and I like the Gurney Bump on the Roof.
  20. Beautiful looking build. Great looking paint and finish. The detailing of the chassis gives it a lot of depth. Perfect engine detailing. What's up with the driver's windshield wiper ?
  21. Great looking color combination. Nicely detailed dash and engine.
  22. You have to admire the paint work that these 1:1 builders put into their cars. I have seen several builders here on the forum displaying similar builds with some paint work that could rival many of these 1:1 cars. I never get tired of looking at them.
  23. The deep offset on the rear wheels might even suggest a narrowed rear end. Again this would be easily done if that is the case. As for the Chevrolet Dog Dish Hub Caps look inside the Revell '56 Chevy 210 sedan kit.
  24. I remember seeing a few of the dark red or marron Impalas with this colored interior. Black seemed to be a norm when the person ordering the cars for inventory had little or no imagination. There are a few web sights that have information on OEM colors for the bodies as well the interiors. This was at a time when they would build cars with just about any color combination you wanted. That was fine if you were ordering a car but most were biught off the lot and what ever the dealer ordered is what you got.
  25. If you have any left over mufflers from other builds you could use them for a basis. I have used the mufflers from the Revell '56 and '57 Chevy kits by cutting then to the desired length and then capping them to make the ends match. I then drill holes or mounting pins to attach the exhaust pipes.
